Nike OZ T130 Oversized Mallet Putters

Nike OZ T130 Oversized Mallet Putters

DESCRIPTION

The newest edition to the OZ family of putters has the highest Moment of Inertia, or resistance to twisting, in the OZ putter line. This added stability is provided by two 65-gram tungsten weights that are positioned rearward in the extreme heel and toe of the clubhead. Moving weight rearward in the putter reduces skidding for a truer roll while the polarity of the tungsten weights provide the stability on off-center hits that will keep putts on their intended line.

I've used this mallet for one year, after using several Ping Anser style blades (including the real deal) for the last 15. Some reviewers have commented that the putter is big and light. I'd agree that it is big (but not huge), but I think it is only light compared to some mallets; it is pretty heavy compared to a blade putter.

I think the picture at the top of this page shows the best attribute of this putter. It has a bright white sight lines against a dull black body. It is pretty easy to align for short puts. I hit it off my front foot, and on shorter putts I can actually see the hole and confirm the alignment just using peripheral vision. Doing that I sink a lot more short putts with this thing. Visually it the bright white line is a bigger helper for me.

Also, I have learned to like the center-shaft. Since switching from years of using a rear-shafted blade, I've found that I occasionally hit the ball slightly toward the tow side of this center-shafted club. It feels a little odd when this happens, esp. when I miss by more the width of a penny or so. If you hit it dead center, right beneath the shaft it feels really sweet.

I'd recommend this thing, esp. for less than $100. It has definitely improved my short putting, which adds up fast. Also, as others have commented, the shaft is sticky. This goes away after use, once it gets a little dirty it is pretty normal and doesn't pick up grass and sand anymore.

I'm very new to golf. I'm 15 years old i played alot when i was a kid but got bored of the game. I picked up the game again in the spring and played all summer. My brother had this putter and he let me use it. At first i loved it, but as i got better i began to absolutly hate it. It is way to big and wicked light. It does good for a beginer but no good for experiece

When i got the putter i really liked it but know i feel it is to light. The head is so big that it is hard to make those 2-5 footers. And it is to light, ecpesially when you get on to slow greens. i think for the money there are better putters out the like the YES callie putter.

The best putter so far. Better than the cameron, ping, and so on. I like mallet putters and this is the best so far. Great feel, straight roll. Off center hits resist twisting and there fore goes straighter. Slightly heavier which helps in keeping the swing from moving. I have lowered my average scores with this and I have putted under 30 putts per round with this, an improvement of 3 or 4 strokes for me.
Pros: great feel and great results
Cons: I don't care about putter head covers when you have a bag that has a slot just for the putter. A putter clip will also work. No cons.

Pros: Extremely high MOI (highest of all putters measured in a recent Golf Magazine club test) means superior stability through the stroke. Excellent sight lines for lining up putts - the T-shape of the lines guarantees you'll line it up on whatever line you choose. Putts roll smoothly and go straight off the face even on most mis-hits. Lie angle is more upright than other mallet putters, so it is easy to get the eyes above the ball. Unassuming flat matte black color with silver tungsten weights makes the putter less of an eyesore than some other mallet putters. Weight is considerably heavy compared to most other putters, promoting a smooth pendulum stroke; hard to jerk this putter away in the take-away due to this. Grip is sticky and tacky, and feels as if it will be a long time before it gets slick. Face insert is hard enough to allow for feel while still soft enough to avoid a metallic, jarring 'click'. Michelle Wie uses this putter.

Cons: If you are not accustomed to lining up center-shafted putters it will take some time; many putts will wind up out to the right initially. Headcover is cheap nylon with strong velcro which, while keeping the headcover on, is irritating to constantly have to take off and put on during rounds of golf - Ping's magnetic headcovers (i.e. for the Craz-E) are the best and easiest to manage. Heavier weight may lead to some distance control problems initially. Sole has tiny crevasses in which sand from the green can be picked up and get lodged. Grip also attracts grass, dust, etc. as it is so sticky. A little pricey for a Nike putter. Michelle Wie uses this putter.

This is a great putter. If you like strong sight lines at address for set up and like mallet putters, this is one of the best. I have used the 2 ball, 2 ball white steel, and the Nickent pipe, all good putters, but this by far is the best. A bit light for shorter puts but alignment and weight are superb. This is a sleeper in my book. It is very difficult to put a bad stroke on the ball. Worth a try...

I just got this putter for Fathers Day.

Likes: I love the dual site lines. I like to bring the putter straight back and then straight thru the ball, and these lines help me line up the putt. I also like the weight of the putter, it is heavy, but not so heavy as to lose the feel of the ball. Lastly what I like is the milled face and polymer insert. There is no doubt that the ball will roll straight when I putt it. I like that I can run my fingers across the face and not be able to tell the difference between insert and steel, unlike some of the other cheaper mallets with inserts.

Dislikes: While the C-thru grip is nice there is a sticky coating that is on it do if it is set down on the green it collects traces of sand, grass, etc. Nothing major but an un-needed distraction before a putt. Finally, the head cover. For the amount the putter costs, I keep it covered when not in use to avoid dings. The cover is hard to get on/off and I can tell will show signs of wear. It is made of some polyester/nylon material that will get runs in it over time.

Final Analysis: Overall I am pleased. I’ve played 2 rounds with it so far. I can say that it instills confidence during the address, and I absolutely love the sight lines. Short putts are easier because of the milled face they have no place to go except straight. I would say I made several longer putts I normally wouldn’t have made with my previous putter (1 for birdie!), so the potential for being a score lowering club is there. Give it a try!
