Description We have been working on this head for the past 4 months, it took 9 re-designs to get the head to pass the stringent testing we put each and every head through, to get it to this stage.

Summary: Terrific!!! All reviews seem to be from the long ball hitters. I am a senior and told not to use this driver. Not only did I use it but broke all the rules and used a metal shaft. (too stiff for the seniors) I have added 10/15 yards to my drive. I played nine holes the other day and hit 8 fairways.

Summary: Have a Titleist 905r, 7.5*, still hit it higher than I want. Just got a 455db, 6* built with Aldila VS proto 70g built. Will be in California tomorrow with it, will try it then, stay tuned.

Summary: Got this driver and haven't been disappointed. I'm hitting the ball better, futher and am pleased. *I* still need to work on my slice, but this club is much more forgiving than my last driver. I plan on making my next driver an SMT as well. If you're looking for a driver that can hit the ball DEEP... and be relatively forgiving... this may be your ticket. It's a great driver... 'nough said.

Model Reviewed: SMT 455 Deep Bore 11* Driver w/ Diamana 63g Stiff Flex Graphite Shaft
Summary: My how things have changed. I tried a SMT 455DB about a year and a half ago and hated it with a passion. I now have a little bit of a differing opinion after getting the right set-up.
Don't get me wrong, I love my Titleist 905R w/ UST V2 shaft, but I'm always wandering around on the internet to find good deals on golf equipment so I can try them and if I don't like, I simply resale it and usually come out in the positive.
I ran across a SMT 455 Deep Bore Driver 11* with Diamana 63g Stiff Graphite Shaft that was brand new for $70. I thought I could at least get my money back plus considering the shaft was worth more than that alone. So I purchased the club and have taken it to the range 4 times and played twice with it. All I have to say is WOW. This puppy is long, long, long and suprisingly forgiving. When I tried a 455DB before, I had a low degree driver (5 or 6 degree) with a long shaft (47-48) and I couldn't hit it at all. This one has 11* of loft and a standard 45" Diamana 63g Stiff Shaft. The red head is still weird, but it looks good with the all silver Diamana shaft.
OK, on to preformance. You don't have to overswing to get preformance out of this club. I just tempo my drives (just like the 905R) and the results are fantastic. A slight draw 90% of the time and anywhere from 275 to 320 on drives. Yeah, I said 320 which is absolutely killing the ball. I've played golf with hundreds upon hundreds of guys before and very few hit the ball over 300 on a consistent basis. Anyone that claims to do so belongs on TV, its just not normal. OK, back to the review. My average distance in the 2 rounds out of 18 drives (9 per 18 holes at my home course) was about 285 to 290 and right down broadway. I hit 17 of 18 fairways and the other was my fault for overswinging on a long par 5.
Ball flight isn't as high as you would think with an 11* driver. It has nice, boring trajectory and doesn't ballon at all and usually gives me 15-25 yards of roll and more when I spank it. Swing weight is between a D2 and D3 but I usually put a piece of lead tape on the very back and push it up to a D3.
I just can't say enough about this club. Its just the perfect shaft and head combo for my swing and it will be in my bag a long time before I depart with it (or my 905R for that matter).
The Golf Gods have finally smiled upon me. I've looked for a consistent driver for years and now I've found 2 within 1 1/2 months. If I were pressed to choose just one, it would have to be the SMT 455 Deep Bore just because its a tad bit longer than the 905R and a touch more consistent.
Reviews don't lie and both of these clubs are highly rated. See my review for the 905R.

Model Reviewed: SMT 455 Deep Bore
Summary: I am got the Deep Bore last year. I got a 10.5 degree with a stiff Grafloy shaft. All I can say is that this is the greatest Driver ever made. I average about 300-320 drives. I have hit it 360 and 370 a few times when i went after it. Not only is it long it is also in the middle of the farway. No grooves on the face must work becuase this driver has fixed my slice. I still slice it everyonce and awhile but not as often and it doesnt slice as much. Must have driver.
