Callaway Big Bertha 460 Drivers

Callaway Big Bertha 460 Drivers

DESCRIPTION

The Big Bertha 460 Driver is designed with a geometry close to the dimensional limit set by the USGA/R&A for length and width. This enables Callaway Golf engineers to incorporate a 460cc head design with a shallower face, flatter shape and the highest Moment of Inertia ever in a Callaway Golf all-titanium head-resulting in longer and straighter off-center shots. In addition, the Stretched Head Design allows the center of gravity (CG) to be positioned deeper within the clubhead to achieve optimum ball flight and maximum forgiveness.

As an 8 handicap I usuallu strike the ball pretty solid (240-250yrds)and am leary of those 280yrd claims. the club has a solid feel and decent distance while being USGA conforming.
The # of nonconforming drivers (Hibore, taylor burner, tayor superquad, taylor quad and others)are tainting the game.

Club hits very straight but not very long. About 20 to 25 yards shorter than other high-end models I have played in the last 2 years. I tried to dial it in after reading other reviews on this height regarding tee height. I occassionally would hit one my usual driver distance (only 240; not a big hitter) but most times it was 220ish even with roll. Although the head appears very large, it was not a distraction at all and the club feels very good throughout the swing.

9 Degree with stiff shaft. Below average distance; good dispersion. Takes awhile to dial in tee height to maximize drives. For me I had to tee it higher than most other drivers this size. Gave it the old college try, but even being in the fairway did not compensate for the loss of distance.

I'm an equipment junkie, so I have tried just about every driver out there. This one may not fly as far as some of higher end drivers, but it does exactly what I need it to do...hit straight and long every time. Before the 460, I was hitting the Cleveland Hibore XL, which hit about 20 yards longer, but was much more inconsistent for my swing. I enjoy bombing the ball off the tee, so I hate to sacrifice distance, but I've learned to keep the testosterone at bay and play for consistency. I can get more distance when needed, but unlike the Hibore XL, I can take a relaxed swing and get great results out of the 460. I feel 100% confident with this driver, and for the courses I play I don't really care about working the driver. Long is straight will work every time. Seems to hit higher than the previous drivers I've owned, but as long as it lands 275+ in the fairway, it can go to the moon and back for all I care.

Definitely would recommend this driver for anyone who is looking for a little more consistency off the tee.

Excellent club. 10 degree with regular shaft. Very easy to hit. Very forgiving. Distance is about the same as with my past drivers but my accuracy is 100% improved. Most shots are right down the middle.

Customer Service

Callaway is excellent to work with. No issues or problems.

After being away from the game for 10 years I started back with a cheap set of clubs. The driver literally exploded on the driving range, so I went for the Callaway BB. It added 30 yards on average to my drives. I have fairly high swing speed and I am hitting 280 to 300, unbelievable!!!!

This club rocks! It is very easy to take the club back on the backswing and when standing over the ball you feel like there is no way you can miss, with that giant Big Bertha Head staring back at you. Makes you feel like Herman Monster on the tee. I usually hit the ball with a power fade but because it so easy to take the club back I have now been hitting a nice draw too. I got a stiff shaft with 10 degree loft.

Customer Service

Callaway is a top notch company and it is reflected in both the product and people who work there.

I hadn't played golf in several years, because I just couldn't hit well off the tee. I got the BB 460 for Father's Day this year, and it has renewed my interest in the game. It's really fun cranking out teeshots now, even though the rest of my game still pretty much sucks. Be careful not to drop it on concrete though, I did it while daydreaming (waiting on slower groups) and chipped the paint up

Have had this club for about three months now and played about 10 rounds with it. I was fitted with a Blue Pro Launch shaft on it at the beginning of the season on a launch monitor. I have been hitting it straight to a slight draw and get acceptable distance (240-245). Nice top line for alignment and price is reasonable. However, I know see I got this fitting too early in the season, as I was six months removed from playing.
The local pro talked me into this club based on how I was hitting it then (lower margin of error with 460).
I went to another retailer to check specs. Based upon how I am swinging now, he said I should be with a shaft that will help produce a lower launch angle. Callaway has the OPTIFIT system so they can put any clubhead on any shaft and test your swing. This time the FT-5 driver head on a Pro Launch Red shaft produced better results by about 20 yards!
Bottom line, 1) make sure you are at your peak playing when getting fitted and 2) the Callaway BB 460 is a consistent club that will get you airbourne and straight - but, as was pointed out to me, it is not necessarily an "advanced" player club (for workability and boring ball flight).
