I have tried many times to replace this driver. I keep telling myself I need to get one of these new drivers. I have tested drivers by the dozen and none have come close to the FT-3. Folks believe me, I have no ties to Callaway but try really out did themselves with this driver. For those who complain about the equipment remember: it's the Indian not the arrow.

Bought this FT-3 8.5 neutral with a NVS 65 stiff shaft on ebay for $109.00 in very good shape. It has changed my golf life. Finally I can keep the ball down and no more shots going left. Played a very difficult driving course this weekend and finished with the same ball I started with. Drive starts out fairly and reaches it's maximum height quickly and just stays there. Then hits and rolls about another 40 yards. It is about as long as my 905R and 905S but much straighter probably due to it's 1/2 degree open face. I can't say enough about this driver. I can now just point and swing even under the duress of having to keep it in play. It has taken a weight off of my shoulders and I can now concentrate on hitting my irons.

Model Reviewed: Callaway Fusion FT-3 Tour - 8.5* Neutral

I bought this club online after playing a Great Big Bertha driver for YEARS which I thought I would never get rid of. I always liked the feel of my old driver and could never find one that performed and sounded the way I wanted it to. After hitting some new drivers and doing some research online I settled on this club based on my brand loyalty and reviews I had read. One thing that frustrated me with newer drivers is the seemingly unavoidable trend towards higher lofted clubs which I assume is meant to launch the ball high and get a good amount of carry. I've always liked a lower ball flight with some run and was hitting a 10.5* Titleist 909D2 extremely high yet always down the middle. The high MOI that the Titleist offered was what got me thinking it might be time to upgrade, I could mis-hit (had to beat the profanity filter, weird) it and still end up in the fairway. I also hit a Nike Sumo SQ which gave me the same results at 10.5* The fact that I could get the FT-3 Tour with a lower loft made it extremely attractive, high MOI was another thing that stuck out as I was reading about it. I chose to go with the Neutral setup in order to maximize my ability to hit different types of shots which ended up working rather well. I'm able to hit a tight running draw or a power fade with relative ease and mis-hits (there's that filter again) are still manageable which is easy to get used to. The sound this thing makes was a bit hard to love at first but it quickly becomes normal and shouldn't dissuade anyone from playing the club. I was able to increase my average driving distance by 15-20 yards, I'm able to hit it in spots that I've never seen anyone reach at my home course. I'd recommend this driver to anyone looking for an affordable way to get a boost in their driving distance and accuracy. I'm now a firm believer in buying used clubs that are a few years old rather than dropping $400-$500 on a brand new driver. I couldn't see myself hitting something brand new much better, maybe I'll look to upgrade again in about ten years like I did this time.

This club is amazing! 16 degrees loft so it's like a big wood 3. For the golfers out there with a handicap 18~23, don't think more loft will mean less distance. This rule only counts for the good golfers out there. Maybe you'll loose a few yards but it will be on the fairway everytime! In November I was a handicap 25 and now i'm 16. I hit around 90% of the fairways with 220-230 yards STRAIGHT drives. On a windy day you'll loose some distance because of the high ball trajectory but you can solve this problem by teeing up low.
I love this club!

Model Reviewed: Callaway FT-3 Draw Driver

This was my first new driver purchase and so far I am very pleased. Most of the drivers I had hit in the past were old drivers that did not have great technology. This club is a blessing, as I find I am hitting the ball much more squarely and straighter. This club will not fix a slice, but I did notice a few times at the range where it was helping bring the ball back some. Distance was phenomenal as well, with almost all of my balls hitting the 200-yard net on the upper region.

This has to be the best driver ever made. Very long high drives every time with this club and extremely forgiving on mis-hits. High launch even pierces thru head-winds...Nice! Draw bias isn't overwhelming by any stretch...just a gentle draw when hit solidly. For those with a normal draw, this driver just makes it a tad stronger. Ball hits the ground running...I assume because of lack of spin. Driver sets up very square to ball; better than any driver I've seen. NVS 55 shaft is perfect for this club.

I was having problems putting my tee ball in play. Once I purchased this driver, my tee shots became much easier to put in play. Distance is very good. Now I can relax and put a smooth swing on the shot. This is an easy club to work with. I'd highly recommend this driver if you're struggling with your driver.

I recently i was playing a taylormade r5 draw driver, i loved it but then i swithed to a callaway fusion ft-3 driver and it has a much better feel than the taylormade drivers do. I think that if you are looking at buying a new driver you should look into the callaway drivers and get your driver fit to your standards. Callaway Rules!!

I play guitar as well as golf. Analogously, if you give a poor guitar to a great player, they can make it sound like an expensive guitar. Give a great guitar to a poor player and it will sound lousy.

Annika & Phil use(d) Fusion drivers on tour.

I won’t bore you with my personal swing analysis; if you hit this club on the screws, you’ll be rewarded. I have a neutral, I’ve duck-hooked it, hit draws I’m proud of, and power fades; not necessarily when the hole warranted such shots.

I imagine, if you’re sucking your own ego and get too stiff a shaft, it’ll go right…a long way.

If you want to hit good drives, know the proper shaft flex for your game. It seems to me that, the people writing rave reviews have done their homework or possibly serendipitously stumbled on the their correct shaft flex.

Regarding its auditory quality, I wholeheartedly concur, it is most whiffle bat sounding. If you can’t live without a metallic ping then, this one is not for you. Strangely, FT3 hybrids are the most metallic sounding clubs I’ve ever heard.

Currently hit the Taylor Made R7 but was looking for a second driver. Just purchased an FT-3 today and took it to the range to hit some balls. Wow! First one ripped right down the middle. I noticed that the club has a muted sound on impact and I liked it. It also has a nice feel on impact - a little softer and less "hard" than some of the other drivers I've hit. The club has an NV-65 shaft in it which is the same as my R7. My guess is that I'm getting a solid 10 yards further than my R7. I also enjoy the look at address. I only hit 5 drives when I had a bucket of 25 to hit. My last drive looked and felt so good, I quit hitting it to savor the moment. Looked at the face on that drive and the ball mark was right on the screws. Just my personal experience but this club is a keeper. Can't wait to play my first round. My R7 will not be in the bag when I do play. Paid $199 for the club on sale.
