Callaway FT-5 Drivers

Callaway FT-5 Drivers

DESCRIPTION

The new FT-5 and FT-5 Tour Drivers are the latest evolution in clubhead design utilizing our revolutionary Fusion® Technology. A massive 50 grams of discretionary weight has been created using a Carbon Fiber Body — creating the OptiFit™ Weighting System that produces three center of gravity configurations: Draw, Neutral and Fade, enabling golfers to choose a combination to best suit their individual game. The larger, more robust CT/VFT Titanium cup face is designed to the legal limit, as defined by the USGA Characteristic Time test, resulting in increased ball speed, distance and forgiveness — even on miss-hits. The FT-5 Tour Driver has a slightly open face for a look preferred by more accomplished players. The end result is exceptional distance, performance, accuracy and confidence.

Fusion Technology
Proprietary Fusion Technology creates an unprecedented 50 grams of discretionary weight which is strategically positioned for a high Moment of Inertia and precise lateral location of the center of gravity. This provides exceptional stability on off-center hits, while enabling ball flight customization for optimal individual performance. The 25-gram weight located at the rear of the driver lowers the CG for optimal trajectory.

OptiFit Weighting System
Enables golfers to customize their driver by giving them three CG locations to choose from in most lofts: Draw for promoting a draw or reducing a slice/fade; Neutral for maximum workability; or Fade for promoting a fade or reducing a hook/draw.

CT/VFT Titanium Cup Face
Modified version of VFT® Technology in which face thicknesses are designed specifically to maximize performance under the new USGA Characteristic Time test, resulting in a larger, more robust face for increased ball speed on shots hit all over the face.

460cc head design
A 460cc head volume is incorporated with a longer, wider and hotter face for more confidence at address, a higher MOI and increased ball speed for longer, straighter drives.

Carbon Composite Body
The material used to make the body is significantly lighter than titanium, allowing Callaway Golf engineers to move 50 grams of discretionary weight where it is needed most, resulting in better stability and distance.

I have been playing a Cobra Speed M and decided I wanted to try to get a little lower ball flight and get a driver with less sping and more distance. I had read many a rave review about the FT-5 so I decided to give it a try. BIG MISTAKE. For me this driver just did not work. The driver was much too light for my liking. It had no feel to the head and little feedback to the hands. I was not impressed with it at all. I had the 10.5 degree. I tried it for about two weeks and sold it on E-Bay for much less than I paid for it. I went back to my Cobra and it felt so nice. I have since tried a Ping G10. This is a very nice driver and I it will share my bag with the Cobra. It may eventually take the bag all it itself but I need more time to adjust to it. There may be Callaway driver fans out there but I am not one of them. Cobra and Ping both are miles ahead for feel.

FT-5 Draw 11* w/ Prolaunch Platinum Stiff
Hit the various head and shaft combnations. The 11* Draw w/ standard E150 shaft felt very nice but the cobination hit too high/short for me. Tried the E360 stiff and it was too much shaft for me. Conventional wisdom might suggest that the 11* draw would hit too high and hook for a moderate to stronger swing but the head felt so nice I kept trying shafts. The Diamona Blue 63 stiff just didn't work for me (again too much shaft?). The fitter recommended I try a Grafalloy ProLaunch Platinum stiff...bingo...this shaft worked very nicely with the 11* head...the combo still hit a little high but I could relax my grip and just drop into the slot and swing away with power...normally this swing would result in a high fade but with the above combo I was able to swing hard and hit the ball straighter and longer than with any other driver/shaft combination...10 years ago I was fitted by Titleist to an 8.5* w/ EI-70 stiff shaft...I played that combo for a number of years with a power fade...today, I'm probably closer to a regular flex or a firm... the ft-5 11* draw w/ prolaunch platinum stiff is just the ticket...it has a wondeful solid feel, hits straight or with a slight draw and I've kept my distance!

I just got this club today and i already love it! Its not super super easy to hit but if you put a good swing on it it flys! It actually added about 25-30 yards to my driving distance...but my last driver was also a regualr flex srixon driver. I would recomend this driver to anyone even a 20 handicap.

After purchasing my driver, I have played several rounds. My driving distance increased dramatically. I was averaging 290-300 yards per driver. Now I am averaging nearly 320 yards per drive. The club is very forgiving and much more accurate than my previous driver. I love it.

I went to a local golf vendor looking for something that I wouldn't fade every time I hit it. I was hitting the Titleist 905 tour pro and switched to the Callaway FT5 last year. Don't get me wrong, the Titleist was a good driver, but the consistency that I gained with the FT5 is amazing- no effort involved in hitting it where ever I want to. I went with the 9 degree-S and I am able to work the ball where ever I want to or just bomb it right down the middle. I have a club head speed of about 115-120 and average about 290-295.

Very nice. I kick myself for not buying this in the summer. My usual ball flight is a fade or cut but with this driver I am hitting the ball straighter, even a draw once in a while. The sound is a bit much but I can live with it for short grass.

I get a kick out of these guys who claim to get an extra 80 plus yards by buying a new driver. Pure Nuts. I am one of those people who have a penchant for trying and unfortunately buying different drivers. I was using the TM Quad with good results then I went with the Callaway Hyper X Tour (pure crap). It sliced horribly when mis-hit and you had to work real hard to draw it I normally have a slight draw. Then I bought the Draw model of the FT-5 Tour with a 10.5 loft and stiff shaft. What a great driver. straight and long. No not an extra 80 plus yards like some of these yahoos. However you will hit great shots with this driver with little effort. I can work the ball left or right but also can just bomb it down the middle. I picked up about 15 yards over my TM Quad. This is realistic. This club will give you confidence. A poor struck shot will stay in play unless you really shanked one. The driver plays about 1.5 degrees closed. Unless you really draw the ball out of the park this is the driver you want. The neutral and fade models will push the ball right. My clubhead speed is 108 and I hit it around 270. Sometimes more depending on the roll and sometimes less depending on contact. These are real numbers not some made up garbage like some you might read.

Just started getting serious on golf almost 3 months ago and been practicing almost everyday. I started an Iron set on X tour Callaway. Loved it! But every time I starts on a Drivers then I have this big problem. A Big slice! A slice like a ball boomerang. In a good way I can catch the ball then hit it again and again. LOL.
Got some very good advised from a strangers in driving range and correct my swing. Now with the Proper Grip and Swing the FT-i regular flex also made it so easy for me. I like the feel compare to the other drivers. Now I've been hitting 220+ straighter and still improving.

Awesome, Awesome and Awesome. Went to Haggin Oaks. Got on the trackman, and it was telling me that my swing speed was avg 103mph. Well, low and behold. I thought I was a stiff type. I'm not! Regular works well with my NEW FT-5. Can you say FAIRWAY people. You have to try it. I've played...the Burner, Tour Burner, SuperQuad, r7 425, Quad, r5 Draw, Sumo, Ping G2, G5, and Callway Big Bertha/Ft-i. NONE compare, Trust me! The Ft-5 is HOT. And SUPER forgiving!!
