Model Reviewed: Callaway Hyper X 9.5 degree Tour

I have to admit, the large driver head does create confidence. The tour models have an 0.5 degree open face. The non tour are 1 degree closed. At address the Tour model looks square. As long as you stay down, the balls go pretty much where you aim and it seems to have a pretty hot face, balls screams off of it. The trajectory isn't as high as previous callaway models. For example my 9 degree ft-i seems like a 10 degree when you see the trajectory. The sound is a pleasant muffled plunk, not a loud crack like most newer high moi clubs. I did hit some mild fades with it in my round, and when you really come out of it you can fade it bad. I drew a shot with it too, so it's workable. Other then that, most of the shots went straight where i aimed, so i'm liking this purchase. Shaft feels a little stiffer maybe because it's a .350 tip, but overall feels pretty good. Distance is longer then my TM 425. I'm giving this a 4/5 as it's a good driver and the price isn't as high as most highter moi drivers. Better players will like the tour as it's more workable. Average players will probably like the non tour model better, but give both a try, you might like the tour model better like i do.

Customer Service

Purchased this because my ft-i shaft snapped. So far it's been 2 weeks, so i'm not that impressed with callaway's repair time since i'm in cali too. A big company like that should be able to replace the shaft in a day.
