Cleveland HiBORE Drivers

Cleveland HiBORE Drivers

DESCRIPTION

Through the history of persimmon woods, drivers have always been round. As time progressed and technology advanced, they've grown bigger and are now made of a variety of metals, but for the most part, they've maintained the round shape. Up until now, form has dictated function... The HiBORE™ Driver has changed all that. For the first time, function is dictating form. HiBORE is truly the new shape of distance. The HiBORE is the ultimate high-launch / low-spin driver. Because of its unique crown geometry, the location of the Center of Gravity (CG)* is lower and deeper than ever before. Consequently, it produces drives that go farther and straighter from a larger portion of the clubface than any other driver in existence.

I didn't really need to "dial" in my hitting of them as I had to with the Edge irons. The forged feel of these irons is very nice. My distance was not much shorter at all given, most likely, that the lofts are probably similar. I'm thinking the radial sole with the extra mass behind striking behind the ball makes them the wonderful clubs they are. Well struck hits are more buttery smooth than the Apex Edge's and FTX's. Strength:

As you swing the weighting does its job to help assure pure contact. And at contact there is a sound like no other. Solid and clean, there is no doubt that contact has been made. Because the sweetspot is so large it is hard to miss and the ball flies off of the face. As the ball lands the effects of the HiBore are not done yet; now the ball releases and rolls another 25 yards or so.

I bought a hibore 10.5 with a V2 regular shaft. I have tried at least seven other drivers. I bought this used at a yard sale for 40 dollars. The first point Id like to make is this shaft is great. In another driver I had the aldila wasabi, too much of a balloon effect. I had a aldila RIP red eyes in another, too low a ball flight. The V2 is just right . I have a swing speed of 98 to 102. The regular flex has given me accuracy and good distance. I like the feel and sound as well. Not like a tin can. I did try a cleveland launcher with a fujikura fit on shaft which I didn't like at all. I have slowed down my backswing, put my hands slightlty in front of the ball at adress and I have been hitting fairways or the short rough most of the time and better than with any other driver I have tried. I have a slice issue but if my tempo is good and I keep some simple reminders in play, I have good straight drives that average 255-270 and hit a long of 280 recently. The shaft and head combination is a good one.No make that an excellent one. You can spend alot more on other drivers, but if you are a mid handicapper with a similiar swing speed this is worth a long look.

I bought this driver with the regular flex Fugikura shaft from 3balls.com for pretty cheap, and in great condition. I got it to replace my Taylormade Burner Bubble 2, which I was having problems straightening out my drives with. This club did the trick! My drives were straighter (hit the fairways about 80% of the time...the other 20% wasn't really far off though either) and longer (I was averaging about 240-260 yards). Although this driver may be "old" technology compared to today's $500 drivers, it still has the large face that offers a high level of forgiveness and a large sweet spot that really hammers the ball out on contact. I've read several reviews on here about this club and how if you tee it low, you'll hit more of the sweet spot, since it is positioned lower on the face, but I've found if you tee it up so the ball is about 1/4 above the crown, it allows you to get under it enough, but not too much, as to allow the ball to soar on a very nice trajectory that is really not too boring. A fairly slow backswing with a fast, steady follow through also helps with accuracy on the fairways.

Overall, I would highly recommend this driver for any player of any skill level!

Great work Cleveland!

Model Reviewed: Cleveland hibore driver

Have been reading a lot of reviews on this website and have to say that too many people seem to think that whatever they are testing is the absolute best. Get real and put it in perspective.

Onto the hibore. Bought the 10.5 fujikura regular shaft from a friend and initially found it a good driver, but no better or worse than most of the other good quality drivers available at the time (TM, ping, callaway, cobra). Even today when I play the latest drivers available I don't find too much difference between say the ping g2 and g15. Yes the latest ones have maybe 10 yards more of distance and 10 percent more forgiveness but it does not justify a price tag of 500 dollars for the latest ones

What I find is that once you get used to the driver it will be better than another one till you use that one for a while and then suddenly that is the best one.

Most importantly get a club and shaft that are suited for your swing and it works well. Get an ill suited one and you will always struggle.

My swing speed is about 105 mph with my driver. Got it tested way after I got the driver and then realized why my driver dispersion pattern was so wide. Tried a friends hibore 9.5 with a stiff shaft and could hit just fine.

So to everybody out there, first get yourself fitted and then buy clubs accordingly. The hibore itself is a nice club. What I would suggest is that you buy a used club at say 100 dollars rather than spend 500 dollars for the latest one. The difference does not make sense for the extra money.

This is my 1st Driver, which i bought it from Golfsmith. Since then, there are tons of new Driver on the market, which always claim to offer better distance and accuracy.

In fact, I broke the shaft during one of the game. So, thought that it's time to moved on. Got the NIKE SUMO. But surprise by the inept performance. Hence, decided to reshaft the Hibore with UST Proforce V2 shaft.

I cannot believe it! For the 1st time in my golf history, I hit 220!!! Strike gold for me! This is a keeper in my bag!Oldie but a goodie : )

This is one hot driver and, since the one I have is actually two year old tech now, it is very affordable.

So long as you remember, that even though this is an oversized driver, it needs to be teed low, you will gain distance. More importantly you should gain accuracy. Most important of all, you will gain confidence.

At address the club looks hitable. Just looking down at how small the ball is compared to that huge face you begin to believe that your next shot is going to be a good one. Between the piercing flight and the end release the result is amazing.

With my old TaylorMade R-5 I averaged about 230 total off of the tee. With my new HiBore I manage to fly it 250 and gain more yardage in roll.

The summary is simple; if you want to have more fun playing you need to hit it better. And the further it goes the better. This is one awesome club!
