Strength:

I put a couple 2" strips of lead tape on the sole towards the hosel to slightly increase it's swing weight and promote a slight draw. It works perfectly. I've gained at least ten yards and much better control of my trajectory. - Milwaukee Mobile Truck Repair

Just picked this up on ebay for $40....a little skeptical of the 39 gram 46 inch shaft as I am a fast swinger and load quickly. However to my surprise launched nicely with little spin. Bombed it...may be the longer shaft slowed me down, but worth twice what I paid for it....i also play Cleveland mashie 3 wood and hybrids which also have lighter shafts and these all launch like champs...Cleveland is on to something.

Model Reviewed: Cleveland Launcher XL270

Switched this spring from a 2009 Launcher to the XL270. This is the lightest of the new Cleveland Launcher series (the 270XL, the 290 and 310 going from lightest to heaviest. As advertised, it feels lighter than other drivers I have tried but it also is easy to feel the clubhead during the swing. I was recovering from surgery when I got the club but as I got stronger I did pick up some clubhead speed and distance. The Miyazaki shaft is excellent and while very light (in the 40 gram range)stands up well to harder swings. I believe I picked up distance by switching to this driver--all my playing partners estimate about a 10 yard gain--with only a minimal of accuracy (perhaps due to 46 1/2" shaft and softer flex than my old driver). Some players who struggle with accuracy may have wider dispersion due to the long shaft but I am still hitting 10-11 fairways a round. (Distance is more my problem than accuracy.) All in all, an excellent driver that because of its light weight is easy to swing and may especially help seniors like me pick up some lost yards. Faster swingers --say over 90mph--might want to also try the heavier 290 version of this club and compare. Again, the shaft alone makes this a top driver.

Customer Service

Always helpful in the past. Haven't had to use with this club.
