Model Reviewed: QuadPro 9.5 UST PF65 Stiff

I have recently bought this after trying both the Ping TiSi and Taylor Made 320. I was afraid that I might regret my decision to not grab the TM but this driver has proven to be a great buy. Although the TM is a bit longer (5 yards) on on-center hits, the QP is more forgiving and loses no distance on off-center hits. Being unable to decide, I had picked up the Ping as well with the BiMatrx shaft but I find myself reaching for this more often. I feel the Ping might be better if I played more frequently, but at once a week, the QP is what I reach for more often. Both the Ping and TM are undisputably sexy models of the moment, the TM especially since its introduction, but is it marketing or really superior? TM is certainly spending enough...

The QP head size is quite manageable and attractive. Though I don't quite believe that the Pings and TMs resemble "toasters attached to a shaft", their rather big heads must be at least somewhat excessive to even the most forgiving eye. You can't hide that kind of size, no matter what the shading or coloring. The QP has been described as a more forgiving 975D and I think this description of its attractive dark, classic, pear shaped head is accurate.

The fact that is priced at least $100 less than my reshafted Ping and $220 less than the STOCK TM 320 makes the QP an incredible value. I don't think you can really go wrong. Anyone shooting under 90 should benefit from this driver. We know that Vijay owes his Masters win to it.

One last note on the shaft. The UST shaft is rather unattractive but I liked it. I had heard that Cleveland was thinking of making the BiMatrx as a permanent or maybe even only option but you should try all the shafts. I'm sure the BiMatrx would work well as I like it in my Ping but it is slightly heavier and the specifications indicate slightly more torque than the UST. The UST though has a lower kickpoint and I think that makes it easier to hit. Again try all the shafts. All the specs are listed at Ping's website for side by side comparison. It makes as much difference as picking the actual head.

Customer Service

No reason for it but Golfbargains was very accomodating from a customer's point of view

I bought this driver about a month ago, but I haven't had much time to use it yet (only about 2 1/2 rounds). I read all of the great reviews, so I went and hit one, and liked it. I got a brand new one (with headcover) off eBay for $200. This past Sunday I played the hardest course I've ever played (GlenEagle in Grandville, rating/slope 73.1/143) from the black tees (my friend Bill really likes the challenge), and I used this driver on several holes because you need long drives to get over some of the water/hazards. This driver feels so excellent! I have a great deal of confidence with it. I can pick out a target, do my preshot routine, swing, and watch it rocket out there. I also love the feel at impact - just awesome. When you feel it, you'll know what I mean. I am hitting it longer than my previous driver (Tour Action Ti 8.5* stiff), probably due to a bit more loft. I had some bad drives during the round (I hurt the right side of my chest a few days earlier) and pulled it left, but for the most part my drives were long and straight. If you're wondering why so many people love this driver, go to the pro shop and test it out! I'm so glad I did! I am reshafting my Quadpro 3 and 5 woods with the same shaft also. I hope to drop lower than 87 this year by improving my driving distance and accuracy and short game finesse. This is the driver for me! Oh yeah - it also looks great! Thanks, Cleveland!

Excellent driver. I picked this one up with a Ei70 stiff shaft in it, and felt it had way too much torque. Put in a BiMatrix at 45", one inch longer than recommended. Hits low, long penetrating cannon shots with a tight pattern! The shaft delivers on its promise of good length with less dispersion. If I cut it to the recommended 44" it would be even more consistent, because it was when I experimented choking down on the grip. Maybe five-ten yards shorter carry (if at all) than Mizuno 300S and TM300, but into the wind it's the same lenght or longer due to it's lower trajectory and roll, and it's noticably more accurate. Good solid feel and sound at impact, not tinny. Combination of smaller head and lower trajectory may make it harder to hit for weekend golfers who may want to go to 10.5 loft. I'm told that by a rep that Cleveland may be discontinuing the ProForce, Ei70 and ProLite shafts and concentrating on the BiMatrix. Good plan.

I went to a demo days through an invitation by Talor Made to try out there new 300's. After trying the Talor Mades, Wilson deep red,and tour edge Bazooka; I picked up the Cleveland Quad Pro TI and boy am I glad. I have played the 975D for 2 years now and there is no comparison. The 8.5 Cleveland with the Graffaloy 35 Stiff is the perfect combination for me. My natural ball flight has always been left to right but with Cleveland I am sending boreing bullets down the middle. I have always been long but now it is nice to be in the fairway.

I have played this driver 4 rounds so far and is very straight. Any other drivers I have played always had to contend with a fade and when things went bad a downright slice. I have only missed 1 to 2 fairways a round which is a great improvement. Not quite as long on perfect hits as some others i have played, but playing out of short grass is well worth what little length you give up. Mis-hits are longer and straighter than any club i have played before. One thing i think really helps is the bimatrix shaft it seems to really help keep the clubface stay square on offcenter hits. Demo'd one with the UST 65 and hated it...I had no idea where clubhead was at top of swing seemed to light for this shaft...have UST in my Airmax 3 wood and love it in it, but would recommend demo'ing the different shafts before before i purchased.

OK, why is there no buzz about this club? For some reason, Cleveland products are never perceived as "sexy", but Gee Whiz, this club is tremendous! Straight and long. Hmmm? Not a bad combination. After struggling with a "sexy" TM320 for two months, I'm just incredibly impressed with the QuadPro. The BiMatrix provides great stability and tight shot dispersion. And this titanium head is very hot - the ball jumps off the face significantly hotter than 975D. Head to head there was no comparison. Funny, the 975D and Quadpro look virtually identical at address and I know the 975D is supposed to be the bomb, but sorry, no way. The Cleveland is longer and straighter. My best hits with the TM320 may be a tad longer, but they're are few and far between with nowhere near the control of the Q. Did I mention I love this frickin' club? (Oh, and at $299 retail, I'd give it a 6-star value rating if this site would let me!)

Purchased this club on eBay after reading the reviews at this site. The reviews were right on target. This is a great driver with excellent distance and great forgiveness on off center impacts. I reshafted with a UST Pro Force 65 [R-Flex -- spine pured by Golfsmith]. I really like the appearance and deep face design. I am extremely pleased and plan to keep this one in the bag for a long time. Playing at about 315 grams/D2. I am a 53 year old golfer that has a low to mid 90's driver swing speed.
