If you want big drives and more accuracy this is the club you want. I drove the ball more than 15-20yds longer when i switched to this driver. I used it for the first time last Saturday, March 15 2003 because thats when i got it. I hit it extremely well. Im only 13 years old and on a par 4 255 yards on #15 at Loma Linda I hit parallel with the green and i dont usually hit the ball that far until i switched to my new driver. You should really try out this club if you want distance and accuracy. If i can do it you can to. And im no mocho kid. Im 5'2 and 90 pound. So if i can hit the ball 255yds so can you.Believe me its the perfect club

Model Reviewed: Gravity Back Bi-Metal Offset

I purchased the Cobra Gravity Back Bi-Metal Offset, 10.5 degree with "Regular" flex graphite shaft. I switched from an orginal Callaway Steelhead 9.5 degree "Stiff". I hoped to find a driver with as much control for me as the Callaway but more distance. I certainly found the control plus some. Although I wasn't having problems with the Callaway, the Cobra is noticeably easier for me to control off the tee, regardless of my swing speed. And with the offset, you can cut loose on it without worrying about the occassional slice. Where I gained control, I lost distance. In fact, I believe I have lost 15-25 yds on average with the Cobra. With the Callaway, I averaged 270 to 290 when hit correctly with a controlled but firm swing. Now, I'm getting about 245 to 270 on average with the same swing. I'm convinced that most of the difference is due to the 10.5 degree loft with the Cobra as compared to the 9.5 Callaway. When driving the Cobra, at impact it feels as solid and satisfying as all the new drivers I tried (Callaway VFT, Taylor Made SuperSteel, Ping TSi, Mizuno Blue Rage). Immediately after impact, the ball looks and sounds like a scud launch. The problem is that it just keeps going up and, when it lands, there is zero roll. Again, I get anywhere from about 245 to 265 in the air with little to no roll. Playing from the White Tees, I can live with the distance. But playing from the tips really pushes this club. For instance, on a 410 yd par 4 from the whites, this club is perfect. Your laying there with a comfortable feeling 7 or 8 iron, 145 - 155 yd "scoring zone" shot to the green. However, that same hole becomes a 430 yarder from the tips, and that same drive becomes a 165 - 175 yard 5 or 6 iron shot, just outside the scoring zone. Because I love the control and forgiveness with this club, I am searching for the same club with a "stiff" shaft and either an 8.5 or 9.5 loft. I think this will solve the distance issue. I highly recommend this club for the mid-handicapper (like myself). I've hit many drivers lately, especially the new "super-sized" heads. I cannot get used to setting up with such a large club-head. Although a little larger than my old Steelhead, the Cobra feels and looks very comfortable at address.

I purchased this driver going on the cobra gravity back woods that i own.Since the new cobra ss range is out it was drastically reduced in price from $650. down to $200 aust. All i can say is that it's a great club, the driver is 8.5 deg with stiff graphite shaft, the shaft seems softer than a stiff flex but i'm used to the feel after a bit of practise with it,swing smoothly and watch your ball go very accurate and distance is as good as any other driver out there. I'm glad that i purchased the whole set because all the fairway woods and driver have a similar feel,so there's no real adjustments when it comes to using one or the other. If you get the chance to use one have a go,and you can pick these drivers up for an excellent price off the shelf.

I bought the 8.5 degree zero offset, titanium ''bi-metal'', graphite shaft "stiff", driver after demoing it last year. I also hit that huge Ping, Titleist 975, Great Big Bertha. I liked the Titleist, hated the other two, but the Cobra was the clear winner for me. Very forgiving, long, workable. Offset model would be better for higher cappers of course. A year later I am still very satisfied with this club. Super solid feel at impact and nice sound too. This is the only Cobra club I''ve ever owned, and I don''t even like the cosmetics that much - I actually had expected to buy the Titleist but the shop guy had me try this one - so believe me this is not a case of brand loyalty or wanting to hit what some pro or other hits, but is based only its performance for me. A note: I bought THE SAME club I demoed and had to pay retail for a "used" club to get it, which ticked me off some, but when I hit another with the "same" shaft it didn''t feel exactly the same. Graphite shafts are NOT necessarily interchangeable. If you find a driver that feels perfect to you, get THAT ONE, not another that looks like it. This is much less an issue with steel shafts. I''m rating "value" a three since I think $300 bucks for a golf club is absurd - but I paid it, didn''t I?

I have tried some 20 other drivers (e.g. Callaway, Titleist 975, TM 320, etc). The Cobra Gravity Back was equal to or better than all, and I have been using it for over a year. Distance is excellent and it does correct inadvertent fades.=

Have had this club 21/2 years in general I believe it to be a moderate club. Distance is only generated when hit right on the dot. Club offset didn’t have that much effect for me, in fact my Cleveland QuadPro Titanium Driver is easier to control which isn’t offset? One word of caution, I read some reviews about having the Cobra re-shafted. I had mine re-shafted with the Pro Force 65 stiff flex and .350 stiff tip, it was done by a reputable club maker, the head came loose four times where the head would twist on the shaft. As I said this was repaired four separate times until finally the store gave me an option of swapping for a new Gravity Back or getting store credit for another driver. I opted for another driver as noted above. I am happy with my decision.

Customer Service

Never used Cobra direct, club repair service was first class giving me the options that they did after fourth time.

Model Reviewed: 9.5 Degree Offset Stiff

This club is great for the slicer/fader because it allows you to go at it hard and not worry about losing the ball right. I have a tendency to take too big a swing and my hands get caught behind, resulting in a bit push. The Gravity Back cured that problem (actually "masked" it) but giving me 2 degrees of closed face at address, turning a push into a draw.

After using many different drivers, I found this one to be the most consistenly in the fairway.

However . . .

After purchasing the 3 wood (love it!), I found my driver isn't much longer. I hit the gravity back 3 wood 225 yards, and the driver 240ish. On a 460 yard par 4, a 240 yard drive just won't do!

I just switched to the TM360 and it I BOMBING it 270+. The 360 just works with my swing, allowing me to get the head closed and cure my push.

Bottom line - for $150 on Ebay, the Gravity Back is a solid choice.

If your problem is PUSHING rather than slicing, consider the TM360 (worth the $400 price tag).

The Juries still out.
While having a custom fit session for a new set of Irons, (ended up with Cobra CXI) decided I might as well push the boat out and by a new driver. Tried the Adams, Titleist 975D, Ping and Callaway steelhead. The one big factor with the Cobra was the look and feel at address , immediately felt comfortable and at ease. Turned my long fade into a longish higher straight hit with plenty of run.
Hitting through the 250 fence on the range with every ball. Liked it so bought it. Have only played one round so far on a very windy day, first couple of drives I was very disappointed, lost all my distance, but by the back 9 I was consistently down the middle and around the 280-290 region which was a little shorter than normal but to be on the fairway every shot , especially with the wind blowing was tremendous. Looks good I can’t wait until my next round.

I recently demoed this club about a month ago at a pro shop. My usual swing results in a wild slice to the right. I have to say this club fixed most of the problem but I didn't get alot of distance. Maybe about 210. But I give this club two thumbs up.
