Model Reviewed: King Cobra 427 SS

Purchased the King Cobra 427 SS from a local shop - not a discount store. Probably overpaid a bit but kept the revenue in the hood. I do like this club. I hit several Wilson Big Red (which I wanted and was suggested to buy) but settled on th KC. I just couldn't get the Wilson where I wanted it despite two buckets. 240-260 yds off of the tee w/Cobra. Not bad for an old man (47). Shared w/a older friend who hit it 285. Should have broken 80 except for the few putts I was not given (85). I believe that you have to get off of the tee to score. This club helped me, no !@#$%. Anybody have a putter suggestion? I really like this club. While I would love to afford a Hommas (which I hit in Asia and into'd me to the super sized sticks), I'm going to ride this club for awhile. Basics are that this club is really forgiving. I like it. Used the R flex even though I typically hit a stiffer shaft. I think it is good, has improved my game but make sure you use the tall tees. Keep it in the fairway

Model Reviewed: Cobra SZ430 9# stiff

I have had this driver 6 months and I am now offically binning it. I have tried everything I can to get this driver to work but with no results whatsoever, and am going back to my old faithful Big Bertha 8.5# x-stiff. I don't know why The Cobra for me is so hard to hit but I have sprayed dozens of balls in all directions with this club with no accuracy consistencey at all. I am a reasonable driver of the ball usually around the 250yd mark and normally quite accurate but this club is just terrible. I read a lot of good reviews about this club but for me it is just awful. It doeas look good and is reasonably priced so I'm not just rubbishing it for the sake of it it's just not the driver for me.

Model Reviewed: Cobra King Cobra 440 SZ Driver

My current driver a Cobra 427 and average driving distance of 220-230 yds. This review for a Cobra 440, 10.5 reg with Graphite Design YS-5.1 shaft. Very similar to Cobra 427 but some noteable differences. Cosmetically, the 440 more professional looking with Titleist styling soleplate and visual dual weighting system. The 427 is D1 swing weight with 61 gram UST Proforce high kick shaft & 440 is D2 swingweight with 55 gram YS-5.1 mid kick shaft. The 427 has a lightweight feel thruout the swing as opposed to confidently knowing where the 440's head at all times. The high kick UST Proforce shaft of the 427 provides a lower boring trajectory but the 440 is longer by 10-15 yards with higher trajectory, but no ballooning shots to speak of. The more squarish face of the 440 seems to scream forgiveness and promote harder swings, so this may account for the additional yardage. Whatever, the combination seems to work. The 440 is more forgiving and consistently produces slight fades whereas the 427 is prone to slicing at times. Both clubs are advertised as 2.5 degrees closed, so perhaps strategic placement of the backweights on 440 responsible. Only negative is the fun to hit factor -- the UST Proforce Shaft seems more vibrant at impact but I'll take additional distance anyday. Definitely worth a look!

i love this driver i got it reshafted with a graffaloy blue x stiff because my swing speed is 110 i cant wait to use it when high school matches roll around, its big so its forgiving but it will slice and hook if you swing like that its a big club but i cant take it out 280 consistently and in the fairway so find the right shaft for you because the stock was promoting a slice and i stiffened it up and straight drives i played 18 holes with my dad a week after i got it reshafted and i hit all but 2 of the fairways and i was in the light rough and i shot 75 not bad, but it was my two ball putter and cleveland and titlest wedges getting that 75 the driver juss made it a little easier good luck

I love Cobra so I gave this one a shot - hated it - it's not so much this club so much as I hate the oversize Titanium drivers - I have to slow my swing speed down so much to hit it right that it doesn't feel natural. Back to my old school Cobra SS290 Steel - old reliable.

Model Reviewed: Cobra 427 10.5* stiff graphite shaft

I demoed this club for about 5 rounds at a local golf club. The driver came with a stiff shaft UST Proforce 60, standard length. The found the driver to be longer that the Taylor Made 300 that I was hitting at the time, and much more accurate. The club has a huge sweet spot and the feeling off the face is great. This club really gave me a lot of confidence standing on the tee box. The 10.5* loft was good for me (driver swing speed 117mph), however, the shaft was just not stiff enough. I would have bought this club if the shaft was better, so I opted to get fitted at a local clubfitter. I would still recommend this club to people who like the Cobra drivers, I feel it is a good product.

What a surprise, better than expected, drives are 10 yards longer. Tried Callaway's GBBII and Taylor Made's R580 before buying, Cobra gave me more for my money. Also easy to control, good confidence builder on the tee. I would recommend for 5+ handicap

Model Reviewed: Cobra 427cc stiff Shaft

Got back into golf after a few years layoff and needed to check out the new technology. I have a grip it and rip it type swing and love this club. I used to have a big slice but this 9 degree has almost no sidespin and only goes off line when I pull or push it. This club has a very tall face so one key is to buy the oversized 2-3/4" tees to hit the sweet spot. Now that I'm comfortable with this club I'm not afraid to take it out anywhere unless there is a hazard about 260+ yards out and I need to lay up.

Model Reviewed: King Cobra SS 430cc Driver

I have been using the forgiving drivers like Fat Shaft, Hawkeye and Biggest Big Bertha and have a swing speed of approx. 95-100. A friend recommended me to this King Cobra SS 430cc. Tried the demo at the range and I knew this must be it coz most of the balls drop beyond 200 metres marker. In Malaysia, most of the courses use metres instead of yards. Bought THE driver (Like new second hand) 9 degree with Aldila HM Tour stiff shaft for (Malaysin Ringgit RM800 equivalent USD180 approx) and went to course a day after. WOW, hit 240-270 metres and that is like 270-300 yards approximately. Never dreamt of hitting that far esp when I'm only 169cm tall with not so fast swing speed. Fat Shaft, Hawkeye and Biggest Big Bertha are forgiving no doubt but they lost on distance. Highly recommended, no joke - used to think that all reviews in this column are nonsense but no doubt that everybody is telling the truth about the King Cobra SS driver.

I bought this driver on ebay it was sold as a 9* but when it arived it was a 10.5* with a different ust xl shaft. I contacted the seller about sending it back, they said no-problem but go ahead and try it. I'd demoed a 7.5 and still hit it high so I was afraid this would ballon them.Sur glad I tryed it my normal fade some times slice is now straight or a small draw I;ve played two rounds with this driver and I,ve never hit so many fairways. The new ust xl shaft is really the difference it feels great. Glade I tryed this out.
