Nice Nice Nice!!! This is one mean Titanium Cannon, which spits venom like a snake gone crazy!!! I had theeeeee most awful super slice in the world!!! I just couldn't get a ball straight!!! I went to a demo centre because I were drooling for a TaylorMade R7 Quad... Needless to say I hit that R7 like a dog... None of the weight shifting thingies helped... And then ladies and gents... The Cobra 440 SZ... What a total beast... Powerless effort is greatly rewarded with it! I have a 10.5 loft and a regular shaft. 250 - 280 yards? No problem... Straight as the road to hell and a deafening ping sound!!! I use an earplug in my left ear... The other players on the driving range come to stand behind me to see how it goes... All the attention...Whew... Go out and get the thing!!! Be careful for too much loft though... I personally think the 9 degree would have been better for me. Very high ball flight on the 10.5 degree.

Model Reviewed: Cobra SZ 440 Driver Stiff

Before buying my Cobra 440 2 weeks ago (used on eBay for $150) I read most of the reviews here on golfreview.com and I now feel compelled to share my initial experiences with the driver. First some background. I'm 6.4, 205 lbs with a swing speed, according to Golfsmith, of 100-105 mph. My previous driver was a Ping Tisi 10 degree driver with which I typically hit 240-260 yards off the tee - when I hit it flush. I typically faded/sliced my drives when I missed. I knew that I should be able to hit well over 250 yards with my swing speed and I was not satisfied with the (lack of) consistency off the tee. I therefore decided to look into a more forgiving big head...you know, the 430-460 heads. I tested the Cleveland Launchers, Titliest 983K, Ping G2, Callaways and Cobra 440 and 454 both indoors and on the range. In the end, it was clear that the Cobras were the most straight and long for me. I measurably hit more straigher shots and many over the net on the range (which I almost never did with my old driver). The 983K was long too but simply not as consistent. The question was should I buy the 454 or the 440, 9.5 degrees or 10.5 degrees? I tried all combos and finally decided that I liked the slightly higher launch of the 10.5 (read longer hang time) and I was definitely longer with the 440, go figure. The 10.5 was also more forgiving. And I can definitely put away my ego at times... I played my first round two days ago. I didn't even practice with the new club once before hitting it 265 yards straight off the first tee. The rest of the round was just like that. I hit almost all drives straight 250-280 yards true (with very little roll due to a wet course) and in cold temps. And I was swinging easy because I'm not used to the club. I feel that the stiff shaft is a little whippy compared with my old Proforce Gold 65 so I may re-shaft one day. There it is. Cobra has done a terrific job with the SZ series. I didn't hit all shots flush and I got well over 200 yards on miss-hits. With practice, I know my new driver average is over 270 yards, or 30 yards more than with the Ping. But most importantly - predictably straight! Now, if I could only putt...

I have had a Cobra SS380, actualy still do, but purchased a 440 last summer. I demoed so many different clubs I lost count. I absolutely love this club. It's long and straight all day long. I've seen comments about the sound but havn't experienced anything annoying. This is a solid driver. I also bought a SZ+4 and the performance is also outstanding.

Usually my drives go high and straight, and after purchasing a nike driver, my golf game has greatly improved. Lately, my drives have been out of wack. My swing coach doesn't know whats wrong and my next round the ball went through the face. Shortly afterwards I went to a demo day and tried the king cobra sz 440, and I don't have enough good things to say about it...THIS THING IS A CANNON!!! I hit 275 yds average, always dead straight or a slight draw, being that the face is closed slightly. I hit three drives 330+yds, and im only 15!I bought it. The stock shaft is stiff enough, and the sound the ball makes coming off the face is like that of an alluminum baseball bat. It can be loud at times but it draws attention from the other golfers. I played amazing, being able to crush it, and hit 15 out of 18 fairways with it, 15 only because their was three par-3's. The ball does go a little high, even with 9 degrees, however the ball just rocketed off the clubface. BUY IT! (its also less than its competitors)

Bought this club with an Aldila NV85S. Was fit to it on the Cobra launch monitor. My swing speed is around 119. I hit this club 380 the other day! There was a tail wind mind you, but I've never seen another club come CLOSE to Cobra's distance.

KING COBRA 400SZ, 10.5 degrees, regular shaft. Has taken five strokes off an average round. Requires a good swing tempo, but even mis-hits are usually good. The "bad" shots are big hooks, but those are rare. My 16-year-old son, based on my results, just got the 9 degree with a stiff flex. He's killing the ball. This club is fantastic.

As this forum is built to aid you in your club selection I will try to describe my swing with a Driver. One might describe it as a simple flowing swing with no extra motion but I have never met that One. Most would say I look a bit like a batter swinging at a changeup when expecting a fastball. I swing too fast with very little rhythm and my left knee tends to break down. The hands advance, the body stays behind or lurches forward, I block, I hook, in all reality I can produce almost any ball flight I would not want. The size of the head on the club seems to freak me out. My average ball flight with other drivers has been high and fading (BIG SLICE OUT OF BOUNDS). There are days when I can introduce another aspect to my game and push it a bit (DUCK HOOK INTO THE GROUND). In short, my long game has produced no consistency and the ability to hit a Driver has been beyond me for the last four years. I have used a Cleveland Launcher 3 wood (13) to get me off the tee with some moderate success but always a bit short of what I would like. I purchased this Cobra after trying almost every other club on the market. I owned most of them. The club is very hot off the face and produces a very high trajectory that tends to draw. The sound works for me since I want everyone to know I smashed it when I am on the course. My drives are now very long, more times than not straight and most times playable. This is by far the best driver I have found for forgiveness and distance. My swing still needs improvement but this driver lets me worry about that later.

Model Reviewed: King Cobra SZ 440 10.5 degree

Four months ago I decided to trade my big bertha driver in because of its inconsistency. The same day I purchased the 3 and 7 sz fairway woods after trying them on the range. I would recommend these just as much as the sz 440 I just purchased. ACTUALLY, the entire SZ family of products is GREAT!! I just used my new 440sz today for a round of golf and a majority of my drives were straight or had a slight draw. Plus they went a consistent 245-250 yards. I do want to point out that I tried the nike ignite, cleveland launcher, Ping G2, and McGregor V-foil drivers and none compared to the forgiveness of the King Cobra. King Cobra definitely has a winner with the SZ family. I highly recommend anyone reading these reviews to try it. Especially since it is over $100 less than most competitors. I got mine off of e-bay new for $235 (included shipping). The 400 SZ is not as controllable or forgiving so I would recommend it for players in the low 80s or better. Overall, I give the 440 SZ an A+ and I look forward to using it for many years to come!

Model Reviewed: Cobra 440 SZ

I'm not one to listen to hype about golf equipment. However, this is the only club where I've found the hype to actually be true. This spring I purchased a TMR540 which I was never really able to hit consistently. The sweet spot of the clubface is very small and it is not at all forgiving on mis-hits. During a golf equipment demo I hit the Cobra 440 SZ and was immediately hooked. This driver is by far the easiest to hit driver. I have battled a fade all my life but the first time I swung the club I hit a huge draw. Even my friends are amazed that I now draw the ball. My drives are now 250+ every time. I absolutely can't say enough about this club. By far the longest, most forgiving, easiest to hit driver that I have ever played with. I can't imagine finding a better driver.

A stunning piece of golf engineering! This has got to be the friendliest Driver I have ever hit, and is the only club yet to bring my persistent heavy fade under control. I have gained 50 yards on my drives, but consistency is the main point where the SZ440 scores - its almost impossible to hit it badly. Highly recommended, and good prices are available on the net if you look hard enough.
