Hippo Hex 2 Drivers

Hippo Hex 2 Drivers

DESCRIPTION

The HEX2 featured a unique hexagonal shape that allows optimum weight distribution to reduce the effect of side spin and provide more energy transfer from club face to ball resulting in the straightest and longest driver ever designed. The aerodynamically shaped 460cc club head is designed to reduce drag on the backswing and generate higher head speed at impact.

Well I took the plung, and spent a whole $130. (ebay) for a driver, ha! After reading Golf mag reviews I had to try this very inexpensive and accurate as well as long driver, and I have to say WOW!! My friends and all hit it and they were suprised, straight and as long if not longer! Much more accurate than my T/Made Burner Draw is, flies lower and the shaft (reg) isn't as whippy as the T/Made.
Upon close inspection the quality isn't to par w/ the high end clubs but you can't ignore results. This thing hits like a hammer and the shape does not bother me, it's kinda neat.
I tend to fade the ball, and the Hippo helps in reduceing the side spin, compared to the many other drivers I have owned, and the price, can't go wrong!

Don't buy this club if you're looking to make a fashion statement. It's a Hippo after all so people will look down their nose at it. Until you hit it that is. Then their jaws may drop a little. I have played against players with the big name drivers and this is as long as any of them, for a lot less money.
The head shape is quirky but I like that. I find it less distracting to look down on than other square clubs like the Callaway FTi. It also makes a nicer sound. The hex does what I need of a driver, it flys straight and long.

Purchased before Christmas and just now playing with better weather. I have found at my level it provides a nice fade which is good for me. I have been 250-270 a bit further than the Cleveland Launcher I was using. I paid $145 after a $25 discount. I'm adjusting to hitting a fade, and seeing and end to my slice. Very pleased with results for the money.

Out of the 3 drivers I have tried and used the hippo hex has got to be the best for it's money. I got it for just over £70 or $145 and it's been a fabulistic experience. This is my first driver since my starter set (DUNLOP) and my first graphite club so it's certanly done it's job. I hit my furthest ever drive today - 302ish yards on a downhill par 5. MY driving average has gone to about 270 and mainly straighter with a slight fade on most shots because it's not easy to draw it that much. The Mitsubishi Rayon shaft is very well flexed and the grip is very comfortable in my hands. Overall it is very brilliantish especially for the price.

FACT ABOUT THIS DRIVER - (Told to me my my course's assistant pro)

Ernie Els is sponsored by Callaway and he used to play the FT-i - Square - (He now plays the FT-5)- Hippo gave him the HEX to test seeing as it is based on the FT-i. He tried it and on average was 30 yards further and straighter than his FT-i but is not allowed to play it. The FT-i is £300 and the HEX £70 so that is cheap quality.

Customer Service

Tried out at NevadaBobs before buying online from golfonline.co.uk. NevadaBobs were really good with telling me what would be best for my swing and golfonline were really great as well.

It's a long long hitter. When I pure it, it's about 5 yard further than a similar swing with my Superquad. Also, when I DON'T pure it, it's still almost as long.

The down side is that I can't get it to draw to save my life, but it'll fade/slice no problem. Not my swing, as I can draw all my other clubs.

All it all, super-long, looks fierce, sounds great, but not easily workable to the left and seems set up to fade.

Customer Service

I got it from rockbottomgolf.com. Forget trying to talk to a real person, but that's not Hippo.
