DESCRIPTION

• 350CC Optimal Launch Driver The 350cc V-FOIL Driver with Optimal Launch amplifies your performance on all levels. Combined with the inherent increases in stability and power gained from V-FOIL technology, the Optimal Launch design maximizes performance by minimizing ball spin and providing a distance-maximizing power arc off the tee. • 410CC High Launch Driver The 410cc High Launch driver also offers the optimal stability, power, and spin characteristics as our 350cc, but greater face surface for increased forgiveness on off-center hits and a higher initial trajectory for players who want a little more lift off the tee.

Out of every driver I've ever played, this one is by far the best. The ball comes off the face incredibly hot, it's very straight, and it has the best feeling when a shot is hit with complete solidity. I've tried a ton of drivers (as listed below), and this one second to none. All of the new drivers coming out have heads the size of basketballs, sweetspots the size of baseballs, and MOI's that are off the wall-- but this driver has FEEL! Any golfer could benefit from this club, especially low-handicappers!

THE CLUB HAS WHAT IT SAYS IT DOES IT HIT'S LONG AND STRIGHT I GOT MINE AT DICKS LAST WEEK THURSDAY MAY 11 2006 FOR 80 DOLLARS DEFFINTLY WORTH THE MONEY I GAIND OVER 20 YARDS A SHOT. IT TOOK LITTLE TIME TO FIGURE THE DRICTION THAT I SLICED WITH IT, BUT ONCE I DID IT'S STRIGHT EVER TIME. I WAS TOLD WIN I BOUGHT IT THAT IT WASNT A VERY FORGIVING CLUB BUT I DISAGREE IM ALOT STRIGHTER THAN I HAVE BEEN WITH, ANY OTHER DRIVER IN A WHILE.

This is a huge driver...hits long and straight. But why didn't any of the previous reviews mention the sound this driver makes at impact ? It sounds like a "thud", similar to the god-awful Callaway C4 (kind of ironic, since the vfoil fairway woods sound like titanium at impact). I kept thinking I was mis-hitting, but the results were awesome. Consistantly long and straight.

I stumbled upon this driver by accident and I'm glad I did. A few months back, I broke the face of my Taylor Made 200 steel driver at the driving range. I incorrectly assumed since I purchased that driver on ebay, I would have some difficulty with a warranty claim. So I purchased this driver based on reviews I'd read and liking the looks from pictures on the web. I was surprised to find out days later that Taylor Made would replace the driver with the R360XD and walked out of Nevada Bobs with one that day! Now I have two new drivers. It didn't take long to realize I was keeping the MacGregor and selling the Taylor Made. This is the first graphite length driver that I could hit without consistenly ballooning balls right. My preferred draw ball flight is nearly gone, but that's fine with me since my spray pattern is much tighter. I can't swing as hard (appx. 115 mph) as with the shorter steel shaft but I don't need to. Once I adjusted, my scores started dropping as a result of keeping the ball in play much better. I was getting into all kinds of trouble off the tee, averaging a couple of penalty strokes per round. That's down to a total of two for the last nine rounds, six of those rounds being in the 70's. As a result my index is at 6.2 now and going down. I'm not sure if this driver is any longer than what I've used previously. On the drives that are flushed, it seems pretty similar. Due to the larger face, marginally struck drives produce much better results. Distance was never my problem, consistency and direction was. I used to joke that the strength of my game was punching out of the trees, which I got quite good at. Gladly, it looks like that part of my game will suffer. Absolutely no regrets. Very solid driver, great trajectory, responds well to a long smooth swing and cost only $76 on ebay.

Model Reviewed: Macgregor V-foil 410 cc

In the past four years I (at the behest of my wife!) after several knee surgeries I have been re-bitten by the golfing bug. After trying a number of drivers and still struggling off of the tee I had been reduced to using a 3-wood or 3-iron so that I could find the ball. WELL, I NO LONGER WORRY ABOUT THIS! I had made the decision to purchase the 410cc model with a stiff graphite shaft and found the combination I was looking for online. I now stay in the fairway, usually in the middle and have a consistent carry of 250 plus with another 15 to 20 yards of roll. I have just finished my fifth round with this club and my carry is longer than the total yardage of my current driver. A push will stay to the right but not slice, a pull will stay left but not hook. With an easy swing the ball just explodes off of the club face and in each of the five rounds so far, my comment at least three times has been "I've never hit a ball that far", and am finding myself 2-3 clubs closer on my approach shots! At this point in the Canadian golf season I'm just hoping to find out what the limits of this beast are, at least I'll have positive dreams rather than nightmares throughout the winter about my performance off the tee. If you want an accurate, forgiving and unbelievably long driver try one of these dark green beauties! I can't say enough positive about this club, even my golf partner who is a two or three handicap has taken about six swings with it has decided that he is asking for one of these for christmas. I'm lucky, Santa must have visited my house early this year!I can see this driver helping break 80 on a regular basis simply because it is so accurate and long that I'm using a much shorter iron into the green on my approach shots. If you try one of these drivers you will be amazed. This driver is both straighter and longer than any of the three you see below and I paid a lot less for my Macgregor. If the titanium in the head wasn't so cold I'd sleep with the club! (my wife may reconsider this golfing thing after the last comment)As the ad say's "it's nice to hit last from the fairway", accuracy and distance are combination I've never had before and it does feel great.

The club itself is a wonderfully constructed club that delivers the goods. Distance is not an issue, the sound is loud and metallic but no worse than an Adams Redline. The face remains hot. All in all, I enjoyed the driver and felt confident with it. The drawback of this club is not so much the product but the customer service. A product is only as good as the service behind it. You never think that you need them but when you have just shattered the shaft on a 42 day old club and you are a player who plays 5 rounds a week, you expect the company to stand behind both their product as well as remain dedicated to the people who keep their company afloat (the buying public). I appreciate that Lee Janzen and the like are paid to play their clubs. I remain certain that they would not have to wait 4 weeks for a replacement club. U.S. Customer service never returned my calls. I had left messages stating that I wished to complain to the head of customer service and also wished to write a letter to the VP. Ask yourself the following question? Would you wait 4 weeks and 4 days to have your club returned to you when they promised 10 days and would you still feel confident about the company? MacGregor went the way of WalMart for awhile and have come back with a nice product. If they wish to climb up Callaway Mountain they had best look at how Callaway treats their customers and how they retain such customer loyalty. This proves once again why Callaway and the like remain #1 to the buying public. They stand behind their product and apply the principles that Ely Callaway stood behind, that being that the loyal customer remains your most valuable asset. I am disappointed to have to offer such a horrible review as I did enjoy the club. During those 4 weeks of limbo I was forced to get used to another driver and went threough many until I fell upon the C4 and amnow back to Callaway where I will stay. MacGregor finally sent me a new club. It remains a case of too little too late.

Customer Service

MacGregor's customer service is the absolute worst in the industry. A complete waste of time. 4 weeks is way too long to wait for a waranteed shaft replacement. Extremely disappointed. They never even returned my call so that I could complain about the service.
