Stock shaft, even S, is way too weak. I put a Fujikura 360 67gr. With the 9.5, this baby flies. Club face a little strong so feedback a little hard. But constantly hitting over 230 yard carry so...Dispersion isn't too bad. But be careful: it's a player's driver and little mistakes in the swing when you want to work the ball can costly. Over all, second best to the Cobra HS9 9.5 with Irod shaft though!

Mizuno stock shafts are to be changed. Lot's of choices if you choose a good pro-shop.

i was able to buy this MX500 for $38 including shipping w/only 20 drives on it w/headcover (ebay), SO HOW COULD I PASS IT UP? I was using a perfectly fine Cobra SS-350 stiff. The MX500 came with a stock Exsar 50 regular shaft that i found to be much to whippy. the club head lagged so far behind that everything would bend to the right. not wanting to dole out big bucks i found a once pulled exsar 50 stiff shaft locally for $30 including insallation and a new grip, again how could i pass that up? so i've invested a whopping $68 into this Mizuno MX500. now i am looking for a deal on a top shelf stiff shaft to have installed, Fugikura, 'cause w/the stock exsar50 stiff i am driving 20yrds further easy. I can drive it low,med or high can also bend it right to left which puts a smile on my face. Believe me when i say that it has been well worth the $68.

This is simply one of the best drivers I've ever owned. It has a great feel, look, and distance is great. I can work the ball with ease. I was hitting a clevland hybore, I hit this 20 yards further.

Bought this beauty from RockBottom for $130 w/free shipping. Tried it on the course today for the first time. In one word:sweeeet! I drover farther and straighter than ever with this baby. I got the 10.5 with Grafalloy ProLaunch blue regular flex. My first time with a 460cc head, and boy does this club instill confidence.

Picked one up for $A165 on ebay. 9.5 loft, std Exsar 50 reg shaft. Love the look of this club, sets up nice and square. Took it to the range (at night, couldnt see the ball flight well), seemed to be hitting it too low. Played the next day, hit 0 fairways :(. Never got one more than 5 meters off the ground, also some wicked low slices and some that carried 80 meters before diving to the ground as if they had topspin.
Everything I've read says low and/or right means the shaft is too stiff. Local pro said he had no idea why it wasn't working for me. Took it to a club tech who measured the shaft and said it was more like ladies flex than std :P (he also said that most stock shafts are way too soft....callaway and taylormade being the worst)....so the clubhead was probably lagging behind my swing, so at impact it was delofted and open, resulting in the low flight and nasty slice. He suggested putting a stiffer, cheap shaft in to see if it was any better. I thought he sounded right so went straight for a ProLaunch blue 65 reg (which the guy trimmed to firm).
Ball flight is now just what I want, distance is fantastic (210 meter carry, 30 meters more than my Ping Si3) accuracy is fantastic unless I really overswing. It is also the first driver that I can reliably work both ways. In short I am thrilled with it.
Never again will I use a stock shaft unless it's been fitted and tested.

Simply the best irons I have ever used period! I have used wilson staff ,695mb,mizuno 33 ,11's all blade clubs as I love the look and feel these clubs give you,but when your game is off a little these clubs will kill you! Not with the hogans, they are the most forgiving softest feeling blades I've used ,not to mention how straight they are.Just aim and fire and you will be on the money!Read some reviews that they are shorter than some clubs, not for me ! On my course that I play every week I am hitting less club than ever before. The shafts in these are the apex 4 which seem to be softer than the s300 I'm use to ,however I am getting more distance and accuracy so I am delighted with these sticks and would definately recommend apex blades to anyone who is a decent ball striker.Dont listen to these pro's who say they are hard to use thats Rubbish! I became a good ball striker because I learned to hit blades first, they are the real game improvement clubs not those ugly shovels they play with today!Got the whole set off ebay 1 iron to E wedge for 150 bucks. The best $150 I have ever spent! The only thing against them is that they are a very soft forged club so you do need to be tender with them a little bit other than that as I said before they are the best! Just need a short game now?

I got this driver on Ebay after trying out the newer, more expensive MX-560. I have the 8.5* stiff flex model. THis is not the most forgiving driver I have ever hit, but it is the longest. When I swing correctly I can hit it 250 easy. That being said, if I am swinging outside in I hit some of the worst slices I have ever seen. The face sets up neutral and the shaft is longer than my old driver so this accounts for some of my troubles. Overall I would recommend this driver to someone who does not have a lot of problems with their swing.

Compared to the Maruman Metabolic driver I was using, it is longer and slightly heavier. However, the accuracy is better and if hit right it gives an extra 20 yards more distance. I got it as a last piece in a sales promotion, so absolutely a satisfying customer.

After forsaking my favorite driver a few years back due to technology changes, I've finally found a driver that I love...the Mizuno mx500. I'm using the ProLaunch Red stiff flex @ 9.5 degrees. This setup creates a mid-low ball flight with a flat trajectory. When hit on the screws, I couldn't even tell there was a ball on the tee (It was THAT smoothe). The sound of the clubhead allows the golfer to know they are in posession of harnessed power, willing to devastate a golf ball. The composite inserts lower the club weight, allowing a tad bit of increased clubhead speed. Even the missed shots found the fairway on most occasions. I fell in love with this driver in the store when I first set the club on the ground. It sets up square, and the traditional shape inspires confidence from the get go.

I bought this driver based on my good luck with the MP-001 400cc 10* driver which had a grafalloy blue regular shaft. For some reason, that shaft played stiff and I could hit the ball hard but not high enough, so I moved on. I was however very impressed with how accurate that driver seemed to play compared to others.

Anyway, based on my previous results and reviews from this site I thought I would try the MX-500 9.5* with the stock stiff Exsar 50 shaft that I got from ebay, figuring the Exsar shaft stiff would probably play less stiff than the grafalloy blue regular. I was right, the stock shaft was just fine for my 90-98 mph swings with the driver.

What I didn't expect was how explosive the club was at the range. Without over swinging I was getting excellent power (for me about a 240 yd carry). This compared favorably with my Cobra SZ 460 9.0 degree driver with the Aldila NV-60 HL that I am currently using. However, after this range session (I was testing the Cobra along with the Mizuno at the range), I am going with the Mizuno to the course next. It did everything the Cobra does only more accurately. Trajectories were similar for the Mizuno and the Cobra with the Cobra trajectories maybe a tad bit higher. Also, I found the Cobra much more difficult to work in both directions compared with the Mizuno MX-500.

All in all I am very happy so far, and I may chime in later after a few rounds to let you know if I still have that "new club euphoria".

Customer Service

Never needed any with Mizuno equipment so far. Well made and beautiful to look at.
