PAY ATTENTION TO THIS REVIEW! I consider myself to be quite the equipment afficionado because I pay attention and I am unbiased. Anyway, this journeystarts via a Nike 350 with the Stiff Nike Fijukura. This driver has been the absolute longest driver I have ever his by FAR. Want to know why? The shaft...It's a piece of garbage. There seems to be such an emphasis on distance that all these "knowledgeable club fitters" encourage everyone to play a softer flex. This is where the problems start in my opinion. I have traditionally played a strong stiff or an x. The reference shaft I have always used are the Tour EI-70's (Tour S and Tour X). Anyhow...I was getting much length but steadily started loosing accuracy and beleive me when I tell you I shoot in the 80's constistenly instead of the 70's because of the binds I get myself off the Tee. Decided it would be cheaper to sell my 350 and go to a 400 with a custom shaft. Everywhere I asked I would get the same response...use an S-Flex because the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. No so when you can't hit it remotely close to where you intend to hit it. Finally I got in touch with the guys at Grafalloy and the encouraged me to go to a 44 1/2" set up with their Graffaloy Blue which tend to play quite a bit stiffer than traditional S-flex's. NOW PAY ATTENTION...Incredible is the difference. The stock Nike shaft is so spongy and mutes the feedback from the clubhead. This single change of shaft has turned this into a super driver that sounds better and you can actually feel what you are doing. The best part is you hit it much straighter. The purpose of this review is to emphasize how GREAT these Nike drivers are IF YOU PUT THE RIGHT SHAFT AND FLEX IN IT! Better than the Titleist J's and the Taylor Mades. I have hit the 983E and it feels like an oversized 275D which is quite a compliment as the Titleist 275D is by far the best driver ever to some out. Just the facts...my swing speed averages between 110 and 115 so you can adjust accordingly. If you swing over 100 the you should be playing a very strong stiff if not an X in most shafts. Be honest with yourself when it comes to how far you actually hit the ball because that is all a club fitter or a sales rep has to go on whenever he suggests your clubs. All in all this 400 will stay in the bag for quite some time until the New Ignites start selling cheap. I am truely amazed at how many bad reviews I see about the Nike Driver...FOLKS...It's not the club that will makes the swing its vice versa....it is simple physics...your swing path dictates it all. Get fitted right and please find the right shaft flex options so you can accurately assess equipment. If you cut the ball the solutionis simple...go to a club whos set up is a couple of degrees closed (Callway VFT's in the higher lofts) or one that is heel weights and draw biased like the Titleist 983K and 975J and JVS! I would suggest a more rationmal approach....learn to swing the club correctly to begin with and you can play anything you want.

This club is awesome! I gave up my 280cc Hawkeye for this and boy-o-boy.... it is sooooo easy to use and to add the icing on the cake, adds about 30-40 yards off the tee for me! It's worth every penny!

Used the Nike 400cc for the first time yesterday. I hit all but one fairway w/ lots of distance off the tee. I was able to work the ball left and right w/ ease; and the forgivness was excellent. I did make one change to the driver by using a TX-90 steel stiff shaft instead of the stock Nike graphite. Driver is good, but w/ the right shaft change could be considered very very good.

I THINK I HAVE READ JUST ABOUT EVERY REVIEW HERE ON NIKE DRIVERS. I'VE GOT TO TELL YOU THAT WITH ALL THE BASHING THEY GOT I DECIDED TO PURCHASE THE NICKLAUS AIR-MAX 430 INSTEAD. NOT A BAD DECISION, BUT NO MAJOR CHANGE IN DRIVER PERFORMANCE FROM THE $40 RAM 420 DRIVER I WAS HITTING. SO AFTER MUCH DEBATE I DECIDED TO TRY THE NIKE 400CC DRIVER, 9 DEGREE LOFT WITH A CUSTOM GRAFALLOY PROLITE 35-STIFF.WOW! WHAT A DIFFERENCE THIS CLUB MAKES. I AM NOW CONSISTANTLY HITTING 300 YARD DRIVES. THIS IS ABOUT 30 YARDS BETTER THAN THE AIR-MAX 430. I DON'T KNOW WHY THIS CLUB GETS BASHED ALL THE TIME BUT I CAN TELL YOU ITS THE BEST DRIVER I HAVE EVER HIT BY FAR! GIVE IT A TRY IF YOU ARE A SERIOUS GOLFER. THANKS.

I received this club as a gift in April and had only hit it on the range as I have been very pleased with my Titleist 975J (Pro Force 65 stiff) for the last two years. About three weeks ago I began to struggle with the 975 and decided to put the Nike in the bag for a test. It's a great looking club and feels so light that the extra 1" of shaft isn't noticeable. Mine is a 10 degree with the stock stiff shaft. (According to Nike you should use a higher loft than your are used to and I had been using an 8.5 degree and hit the ball fairly high.) The Nike appears to be slightly closed at address and I found it very easy to draw (which is my normal ball flight). My attempts to fade the ball seem to end up straight rather than left to right. The trajectory is almost identical to my old driver and the distance may be slightly longer. The club is very loud, so it sounds longer anyway! You do have to tee the ball quite high to make solid contact on a consistent basis. The more I have used this club the more I like it. The big head makes it seem almost impossible to mis-hit and my control so far is quite good. I do find the stock headcover to be annoying, having to use a zipper and "work" the head back into the cover after use. (If this club stays in my bag I'll probably replace the headcover anyway.) I know that Nike clubs have gotten bad press, and I was prepared to find fault with this club. However, overall this club seems to be quite a solid performer and the Titleist will have to live in the garage for a while! (I also notice that most shops have greatly reduced the prices on the Nike clubs, so they may be a real bargain now.)

After several years of playing with a Titleist Driver, I decided to make the switch to a larger head driver with less loft. I have always played a 9.5 but purchased the 8.0. To be honest, I have has a difficult time hitting this club consistently. It probably gives me 10-15 yards extra off the tee, but out of 10 shots, maybe 5 will end up where I want it to. (compared to 8-9 with my Titleist.) I had it reshafted to steel shaft, and that didn't seem to help at all. I love the feel, and response of the club, but it still has a ways to go to get my 100% trust.

Well, EXCELLENT comes to mind. I demoed every club out there and it down to this and the cobra SS350. I chose the Nike finally and could not be happier. I am playing the stock stiff shaft and it works very well. My driving consistency has imporoved tremendously... and my distance... I have hit at least ten drives over 315 yards with this club. And I'm 5'10" tall, 140lbs. Basically a miracle. I would not reccomend this club to a high handicapper though, its definitely not the easiest thing in the world to hit, but if you're good, then by all means, GET THIS CLUB.

WOW, I used to play with the original big bertha and hit the ball low and would hardly ever hit it solid. My driving was terrible and I could only average about 200 - 210 from a drive (I dont suck I still shot 77 with it!) After I've gotten my Nike, I average 230 - 240 CARRY! with a nice high drawing arch. My drives are averaging 260- 270 and is making golf a lot more fun. The face of the club is like a big trampoline and is amazing. You have to get the big tees with this club. Best club in my bag!
