Very hard to find the sweet spot, but if you do, you can hit it long. Nice trajectory with lots of roll after it lands. I tend to duck hook it when I make a bad swing so I would say that it is not very corrective, and its the only club I have had this problem with. I purchased this club to upgrade from the Callaway "ballon" bertha because I couldn''t afford any of the $400+ stuff. Now that I can, I will be purchasing a 975J as soon as I decide which shaft is best for my swing. All I really gained from this driver was about 10-20 yds. and a significantly better trajectory with more roll.

I bought this driver because I was so impressed with the 16 degree fairway wood I''''d bought 3 weeks before and because I was looking for a driver that could hit the ball further and lower than my Taylor Made Bubble Burner 10.5 degree driver. This driver came with a Rapport Firm graphite shaft. The 16 degree came with a firm steel shaft. This driver is very good and I will definitely be using it instead of the Bubble which I''''ll keep in reserve as it still a very good club. I wondered whether I might be better off with a 9 or 9.5 degree driver but couldn''''t find one with a firm shaft only regular. Since my swing speed is 95-100mph the shaft has to be firm - my Macgregor PMB irons all have the True Temper S300 shaft in which works fine for me. Anyway the Orlimar driver works very well. To start with first time at the range yesterday my shots were erratic even though well struck. Once I sorted out my alignment I was getting consistent long straight shots with a medium height boring trajectory - exactly what I''''d been looking for - and the average carry must have been 240 to 250 yards using range balls. Although the club has no alignment marks on the top of the head I soon found that the driver would lie naturally on the right line. The 8 degree loft is no problem. Due to the weight being so low in the head getting height is not an issue. It wasn''''t much lower than the Bubble Burner but the ball flight is more direct and on less of a looping trajectory. I also noted very little movement to either the left or right. This driver hits pretty straight unless you abuse it massively. I doubt if a high handicapper would enjoy this club. It has a relatively small head judged by modern standards and the face is also relatively shallow though not as shallow as the original Trimetal driver. I like it because I''''ve always had traditional sized woods and could not get used to a driver the size of say the new Taylor 360. The feel of the face is also great due to the hard steel face. This is a club which encourages you to hit hard. All in all a great driver. The previous weekend I''''d tried a Ping i3 steel headed driver which looked good but which at least for me created a massive slice although the feel off the face was good.

Customer Service

I contacted Orlimar in the US for help in tracking down their UK distributor and they were very good responding to my email by return.

this driver for the money just cant be beat. i know its not oversized or titanium, but it can stack up to any driver out there today. i have owned and hit many of the high priced drivers and it stacks right up there with them all. feel is great, control is awesome( due to 10.5 loft and the shorter shaft) my distance is just as long as some titanium drivers i have owned. the ei-70 shaft compliments this club very well. i think i may also search for the 9.5 also. paid 65.00 for this new. they are being closed out so you can pick on up dirt cheap. but they are far from cheap in quality. orlimar has one of the best customer service''s in the golfing industry.

Bought a Trimetal Plus 9.5 deg last year over many clubs. The Orlimar provided me with the perfect platform to deliver an extra 30+ metres and much better directional control - have hit a few 300+ drives, but average 260 to 280 metres (not whimpy yards). I have been thoroughly impressed, and have found the club to be quite forgiving. Seems to play very true in the wind as well... but that could just be my enthusiasm speaking. Last week the face of the club developed a fine crack around the join - no big deal, problems sometimes happen with drivers. I contacted Orlimar (US) on Thursday who put me in contact with their Australian office. The club was sent to them late on Friday and now early Tuesday, a brand new replacement is in my hot little hand. The whole experience has been excellent and I unreservedly recommend these clubs and the company who truly stands behind their products.

Orlimar''s cust serv could not possibly be improved from my experience. All staff and company policies appear to stand behind the product and their clients. See details in Review Summary.

I''m interested in buying an Orlimar Driver after trying the 9.5* in a store setting/hitting into a net. I liked the feel of the club and I see great reviews on it. If you''re looking to sell, please email me, kapaa_papa@yahoo.com.

This is a good, trustworthy driver without any glaring weaknesses. I beleive this club will improve most people's games by eliminating horrible misses. Most fairways missed with this club are only by a few yards and never were in trouble. What this costs you in occasional big hits with, say, a Ping, it more than makes up for in its ability to make you step up to the tee and know that you are going to put it a respectable distance down the fairway.

Overall, this club has no bad qualities but is also not exceptional in any one area. This is a good driver for a 85-shooter or lower not sure what to go for.

I was so excited when I got this driver. About 400 range balls later it is back for sale. I cant hit this thing for the life of me, and I feel like I can hit a rock tied to a stick when I'm swinging well. I can hit my 16* Trimetal Plus fairway wood just as far, and MUCH more consistantly. Got a root canal today and enjoyed it more than hitting this thing. You think you can hit it, buy mine.

I've been looking for a new driver to replace my aging Callaway Big Bertha Warbird. I tried my brother's Wilson Fat Shaft, but it didn't seem any longer or easier to hit than my Callaway. After reading the reviews on this board, I wanted to get get the Cleveland Quadpro Titanium driver. The salesman at Don Sherwood's Golf and Tennis Solution pushed toward the Orlimar instead. Even though it the price was recently reduced to $200, it still seemed expensive for a steel driver. So I turned to ebay for a lightly used model for $81.

This was the best $81 I ever spent on golf equipment! I played 2-2/3 rounds this weekend and used the Orlimar extensively. It was 20-30 yards longer than my Big Bertha, and while I didn't hit every fairway, I never missed by more than a few yards. Zero OBs, zero duck hooks, just a ton of drives nicely high and 250 yards down the middle. The weights in the sole really seem to make it easy to get the ball airborne. While I'm sure that there are other drivers with more exotic materials and constructions that can hit the ball longer (but probably not straighter!), the Tri Metal Plus is a great value, especially on ebay!

This club does not live up to its reviews. Orlimar makes great fairway woods but bad drivers. Does not hit long enough.

This is the best overall driver I have had. It's as long as any of the others (although the single longest drive I have ever hit was with a TiSI) but more importantly it allows me to find fairways with greater consistency. I can still hit ugly shots with this but they are less ugly than the ones I have hit with other drivers. I think its the sole wieghting that provides this forgiveness. Also I find the average head-size (240cc I think) to be much easier to square which is the real secret of consistently hitting it long (and obviously straight).

I recommend you try this driver esp. now that the HIP-Ti is out and this is cheap. I prefer this to the HIP-Ti due to its consistency. The HIP-Ti has a nice feel but the big head made me slice it more than I liked.
