Ping I3 Stainless Steel Drivers

Ping I3 Stainless Steel Drivers

DESCRIPTION

From Ping: "Applying the proven technology of the TiSI driver- including a nearly parallel top and sole, variable face thickness and custom-fit hosels- PING engineers designed the i3 Driver for golfers who prefer the size and feel of a stainless steel driver. At 198 cc, the clubhead offers workability off the tee, yet is extremely forgiving. As with all PING golf clubs, the i3 Driver is available with a wide range of fitting options."

I hit this club pretty well but i think it is crappy. I am 14 years old and i snapped the shaft near the hossel on the driving range. It cost about $50 in repairs. Then before Christmas the elliptical weight popped out. ( I lost it). I still hit it well near 200 yards on my best drive but again im only 14. it is not the most forgiving club. I am trying to find a better club for my age

I was looking for a strong 3 wood or a driver I could hit off the deck. I never had a problem hitting my 10 degree Warbird off the deck, and I figured this club would suit me well off the deck and off the tee on tight par 4's. Well I took it out to the range the day after I bought it. I never hit a fairway with it off the tee. Either an apparent push or a moderate hook. The distance was adequate, but not what I expected. I hit it fine off the fairway, but the direction wasn't too good. I took it to the range the next evening and though I got it dialed in at bit, but it seemed like I had to work hard to do it. The next day to my disbelief I had the same results. Not accurate or long. My 8.5 degree driver killed it in accuracy and distance. This club didn't hit much further than my 5 wood off the tee or fairway come to think of it. I took the club back to Edwin Watt's and I exchanged it for the Cobra SS 13 degree strong 3, which I'm happy with. This club was no better than the worst of my drivers including the cheapies on distance or accuracy. It just didn't work for me. I have played the Ping TiSI and that is another story.

i think that the Titilest 975D driver is the best driver ever made and that Titelest should not have taking off the market. I hit farther then anything else i have ever hit. It feels so good when you hit it.

Model Reviewed: Ping I3 Stainless Steel Driver, stiff, 9o loft

I first acquired the 14o steel I3 wood early last season. I like its size, the way it set up, the clean steel ''clink'', and the manipulatable ball flight. When I read that Ping was coming out with the steel driver I tried it, too, and liked it immediately. I have never liked the ''cowpie-on-a-stick'' feel of the new big titanium drivers, and the smaller head of the I3 seems more like real golf and less like techno-assisted ''cheating''. I have plenty of length, but really prize the confidence I have in this driver''s accuracy. Maybe I could squeeze some more yardage with less accuracy from some other products, but that''s not what I''m looking for in a driver right now -- maybe when I''m an old fart.

Best driver I have tried, I have never been more accurate than now. Doesn''t loose much in distance compared to the Titanium heads but you gain in accuracy. I am currently playing the 9 degree with stock 350 S shaft and can now consistently shoot scores in the mid to hih seventies (helps when you find those fairways!)

I have tried every big titanium headed driver on the market and after all of this time I found that I prefer the feel of a steel head. I have tried clones, those 400CC jobies, Titlest 975, ISI, Taylor made 300-360, Olimar Hipti, and about a dozen more looking for the perfect driver. One of the guys at Nevada Bob''s recomended that I try the I3. I thought, this thing is way too small but I tried it anyway. I think the length and size are perfect and here is why. Why I have a huge head on a long stick I can''t help but try to crush it. If I slow down then I slice it or hook it. With this driver you feel like you just need to make good contact because it is the size of a 3 wood and just as easy to hit. Then when you make good contact with it you get all the distance of a driver because you made good contact. I get just as much distance from this driver with a good steady swing as I do with a wild swing from my Taylor Made that happens to make pretty good contact. I easily hit it 250-280. I could not be happier. Especialy since I bought it off of Ebay for less than $100.

Customer Service

I broke the shaft in a i3 3 wood and they replaced the shaft and regriped it free, no questions asked. Support is wonderful.

Got this club about 2 weeks ago put it in the bag and went on a golfing vacations played every day and used it alot. One word to describe this club awsome. I have never been a long driver 230 yards is good for me. But with this driver I can knock it around 250 - 275 my longest was a pounder around 310 yards (almost pooped myself after that one). The length is not the amazing thing about this driver but the acurracy out of 16 rounds of golf I only missed the fairway with this driver aproximately 9 times and most of those were not in bad shape. My friend plays with a larger titanium driver and after 2 weeks of thouroughly thrashing him with my i3 he chose to go get one.
