Over a year ago I purchased an 8.5° RUD stock stiff shaft. It really worked for me at that stage - playing off a handicap of 14. I found that the closed set-up helped to reduce my slice and I felt very confident with it. As my swing improved and my handicap dropped, I found that I was producing an incredibly high ball flight which was costing me significant yardage (I was hitting my Hawkeye 3+ just as far). Snap hooks started to be a problem too. I wanted to stick with the Ping, so I looked into reshafting. The Ping factory here in Sydney is fairly close by, so I went there to discuss my options. They were extremely helpful (great service); but to cut a long story short, reshafting was going to be expensive. Luckily I found a pro shop that had a 2nd hand (good as new) Ping driver made by the WRX division. 7° RSS with a 46 inch UST Proforce 75 x-stiff. Unbelievable difference! I'm 6'4" tall and the extra length/stiffness combo and lower loft have cured all my problems with ballooning ball flight. Had the round of my life yesterday (76) and would have been better if it wasn't for a few putts that refused to drop! This club is perfect for me; I get a great trajectory, long carry and substantial roll. I'm extremely happy with the extra distance (30 yards+ literally). Love this club! Customer Service Extremely friendly and approachable; willing to spend time to advise me. Similar Products Used: Orlimar, Taylor Made Firesole, Callaway GBB Hawkeye VFT ERCII |

Ping TiSI Driver 8.5* Stiff stock shaft, RUH Hosel
This is the driver to get. Many of the reviews say that the head is too big, and it is too hard to hit. I agreed AT FIRST! I spent a while on the range, and worked hard at it. I was hitting duck hooks off the toe around 230, and would roll to the center of the fairway. The last time I played I found my driver swing! I was hitting it around 270 on average, with a long of 300! With my old driver, I hit it about 255 on average with longs of around 280. The driver keeps the ball out of the wind, and won't stop rolling. It rolls forever. I was even using the Nike Tour Accuracy ball in this round, which is a good 15 yards shorter than the Pro-V1, or the Wilson iWound, or the Strata Tour Ultimate(superb ball). I could only imagine the distance and control with one of those balls. I was hitting it dead straight, or with a slight, desireble fade. The guy I played with outdrove me by 40 yards on the 1st tee ( I used a 3 wood(not ping)), and the rest of the day I outdrove him by 5 to 10 yards, and he was using Top Flight Super Titanium balls! I hit 10 out of 14 fairways, but 2 of them was where my alighnment was off, and the other two were because I tried to hit a draw, and it didn't draw. Not easy to work a draw, but not impossible either. This is easily the greatest driver I have ever hit. Go out and buy one now, but you will have to work with it for about 2 to 3 weeks, but is well worth it. The head size "shrinks" and you feel much more relaxed, determined, and aggressive off of the tee. Ping Tisi 8.5* and 10*
I know this is a good club. I have a couple buddies that love it but it never worked for me. I first tried the 8.5* stock stiff shaft. Sliced every thing. Couldn't control it. Just never felt comfortable so I traded it for the 10* with a graffaloy prolite reg shaft with a draw enhancing set up. A little improvement but still it never felt comfortable swinging. Couldn't control it very much. Always a guessing game where it was heading. Maybe the swing weight was off for me but after 3 months I was tired and fustrated. Recently traded it for the taylor made 320 and love that club (see my review for it) So I can't recommend the ping. I don't know if it was to big, swing weight off or shaped just awkwardly enough to make a difference but this was not the club for me. Similar Products Used: Taylor Made 320, Hawkeye |

Do not invest in this club. I spent $400 of my hard earned cash, which is hard to come buy since i'm only 16 and summer jobs don't pay much. Any how i got it thinking i would hit a nice solid drive every time. When i made contact with the ball it sounded like a dun went off, that was cool. But when i would look up to see the ball i wasn't getting much distance, or the ball flight i like. so i took it back and had some of the custom things changed. still no luck. with my 9.5 975d i can work the ball any way i can think of and hit it long a stright every time. i would say this club would b best put to use with a player just starting. it does have a large sweet spot, but is a bit to big for my liking. Customer Service it took about 6 week to get it back when i sent it in to get the shaft changed. Similar Products Used: 975 d(buy this) taylor made(not very pleased) |

Tisi 10 RUD UST 65 reg
This is an update of my experience with TISI. I used the club for about 3 months with a RSS and stock stiff shaft. Good results when hit flush. Ball shot right when hit off the toe. Decided to reshaft with UST (stiff tip). Good driver became great. Shot pattern became tight. Toe hits went straight. No more balloon hits. Sent to Ping to reshaft, came back in 2 weeks. Best $90 I spent upgrading my TISI. Be warned, the UST plays stiffer. Customer Service Came back within 3 weeks quoted. Ping TiSi 10 deg. RUD hosel
I first bought this club after playing for only 10 months or so. I was about a 20 handicap at the time. I bought the 10 degree head because I needed help getting the ball airborne. I orginally had the original Ping shaft (Stiff) 44 inches, which was certainly adequate at the time. As my game improved over the next year, the shaft became a problem. My swing speed increased and I was soon spraying the ball everywhere. I asked a head pro at a course I play at if I could see the Ping shaft specs. He showed me the book his course receives from Ping and the torque on the Cushion Stiff shaft was 17 degrees! The Ping website states that it is MUCH less than this, but they only use the 1 lb. test! The 5 pound test is the accepted industry standard and this is why the stock Ping shaft's reported torque is so inaccurate. I then had it reshafted with a UST ProForce 75 X-stiff and it was like night and day. I was absolutely killing it with a nice low trajectory, and a very solid, Titleist 975Dish feel (NOT sound!). This club has helped me get down to a 2.9 index, and I know it is just going to get better with more practice. This club is great. Customer Service Reshaft took about a week and a half. I cracked the face hitting range balls and Ping replaced the head and through Golf Mart, had it back in my bag in two weeks Similar Products Used: Steelhead Plus, 975D, TaylorMade 300, Hawkeye, (All good clubs) |

10 degree 2* up, draw face
I have used or tried many drivers in my years as a golfer, and the ping is without a doubt, the best driver I have ever tried. With my previous driver (goldwin FL series 10*,) I averaged about 255 to 260 yards and hit about 8 or 9 out of 14 fairways a round, in my first tournament with the Ping, I averaged about 285 off the tee, and hit 11 out of 14 fairways. Quite a marked improvement. I would definitely recommend it to any golfer looking to improve their driving. Once you become adjsted to the aesthetics of it, the driver lines up very well and inspires lots of confidence. Although it is a bit pricey, its right in the market with the Titelist, Callaways, and Taylors, and is well worth it. Customer Service The club fitting program at ping is excellent, the turn around on a new driver is around three days plus delivery, and club fitting is free of charge. Ping TiSi
I went into Golf Galaxy wanting to try the Ping TiSi driver in combination with the True Temper BiMatrx shaft. This combo, as many of you know, won Mark C. the Phoenix Open. Anyways, I tried the RUD model with an s-flex BiMatrx shaft inside the simulator. Hits off the driver were very good, very long, about 245-250 with a slight fade. I loved the driver. The ball came off with a great sound and a great trajectory. The launch conditions were perfect, about a 145 mph ball speed, with a 7 degree launch angle. I was in love and at the end of my demoing session, I bought the driver after hitting other popular drivers (See Other Products I've Tried). The overall price of the driver with the BiMatrx shaft was pretty expensive, about $460, and that's my only complaint, price. However, for those of you who don't want to shell out as much cash, I would reccomend that you demo the Wilson Deep Red Fat Shaft driver, not as good as the Ping, but a close second. For those of you who do want to shell out as much cash, try the Ping with this shaft, or any of the Taylor Made drivers as well. However, the RUD 8.5* Ping TiSi with the BiMatrx shaft is for me. Customer Service No real experience yet, but the driver came with a good warantee and Ping offers so many custom fitting options, I especially love that aspect of their Customer Service.
