Srixon W-403AD Drivers

DESCRIPTION

The New Srixon W-403 Driver represents a new level of achievement in driver technology. The 420cc W-403 feature the proprietary Impact Power Body construction - where not only the face but the sole and backwall of the driver have varying thicknesses. This unique technology keeps the golf ball on the clubface just that fraction of a second longer which helps reduce distance-robbing backspin. The thin, forged titanium face helps provide maximum allowable energy transfer for high velocity.

I purchased the 403 AD 9.5 degree Aldila NV65S shaft last year and used it 3 times a week for the past year. I was not in the market for a Srixon driver but was attending a demo day looking for a Cleveland Launcher driver. The Srixon rep who I had to walk by twice offered me a sleeve of balls to try his driver. Following a very satisfying, but not loud and annoying like some new drivers, crack the ball rocketed down the range with a very high trajectory. I hit several more balls with this club with the same results. I then went back to the Cleveland club which I found much shorter, then back to the Srixon rep. After a second series of drives gave similar results the Srixon went in the bag.
This is a very forgiving easy to play driver. Very stable with the NV65 shaft. Very little twisting except on the worst contact. Ball flight is high, higher than some, but no ballooning except in the worst headwind. With the current low prices this would be an attractive, high quality club for anyone looking for consistentcy and distance. Everyone who hits this driver is impressed with the trajectory and distance.

I just purchased a Srixon 506 to test so the 403 may be going to back up status.

Give Srixon a try.

The accuracy and forgiveness on this club is awesome! Prior to purchasing this i just borrowed my friends Launcher at the tee. Fine the Launcher goes further but i have never hit the fairway as often. Even my miss hits are landing slap-bang in the centre of the short grass :)

Great value for money.

Model Reviewed: Srixon W-403 AD 10.5* w/ Stiff Stock Shaft

Although I really enjoy playing my 10.5* Cleveland Launcher 460 with a Grafalloy Blue shaft, I am quite impressed with my 10.5* Srixon W-403AD with a stock shaft.

Without any high expectations prior to purchasing, I now believe that this club is more forgiving and easier to hit consistently straight than my Launcher (the Launcher is longer though). The ball trajectory of the Srixon is high with normal carry distances between 250 to 260 yards.

Currently, the stiff stock shaft in the Srixon seems to be OK. My plan is to replace the stock shaft with a GD Purple Ice. I hope the added overall weight of the new shaft will provide me with a better swing tempo and as much carry as my Launcher.

In closing, this club should be good for golfers of all levels. The club is worth every dollar. Given the opportunity, I would buy a second one in a heartbeat for a spare.

After much deliberation I decided to trade in the my old Callaway Big Bertha driver. But what to choose? Everyone I spoke to listed the well known brands. After a bit of research (thanx golfreview.com) I chose the Srixon W-403 AD, mainly due to the price. I managed to pick up a shop soiled 10.5 degree with stock shaft for $130AU. (it helps to be left handed) What a difference it has made to my game. Not just the confidence to stand over the driver with a head that size, but also with the consistent contact I am getting it sends the ball flying off the club face 230m straight down the fairway. I must admit I did not try out any of the other big name brand drivers, but I am not going to bother now. This driver will be in my bag for some time to come.

I have had this club about a month now after trying a friend's on the range. I had the W-302 for 2 seasons and it helped my tee game immensely. I bought the 302 after sampling Taylor Made and the Srixon felt significantly better. The 403 has more of the feel of hitting a marble with a tennis racket. I was tending to go too hard at it on the course I think due to the illusion of the huge head signaling me to swing harder, but in the last couple weeks I've eased it up and the ball really goes great off this club. I continue to be pleasantly surprised by misses going 250 down the fairway.

I like most golfers, have tried many different drivers. I have tried Cleveland Launcher 400, Callaway GBBII, and even the Callaway ERC Fusion (both Callaways had the Aldila NV Stiff shaft) And I have hit them real well, with occasional leaking (slice). I read some reviews of the Srixon model, and tried one out (from ebay $149.00) I must admit, this is the most forgiving driver of all of them, I have hit this thing 316+ yards, and the slice is almost gone, maybe due to the headsize being larger...? When I do mis-hit I am still in the fairway, way out there, and that is a great plus! After a trip to golfgalaxy, they told me people don't hear much about this brand, so look on the interent about them. I can give this one 100% confidence, and would suggest you try one and see, even slower swing speeds are rewarded with this driver. And for $150.00 it's the steal of the lot that I've tried..

H ave owned Yones Rekin, Golf Gear Tsunami and Srixon drivers. I have most recently been playing with the Srixon DW-302 with reasonable satisfaction, but I wanted to give the larger Srixon 420cc W-403 model a try. I am really impressed. This is an easy to hit club, that is more forgiving than any other driver I have owned. It retains a similar look and balance to the smaller Srixon W-302, but it seems more explosive and easier to hit. My driving is much more consistant, and even an off-center heel and toe hit ends up with decent yardage. My son, who is a big hitter and has been just started playing a Titleist 905 seems to get similar yardage, if not a bit more, with my Srixon W-403 too!

I will begin by stating that if you haven't heard of Srixon (pioneers in C.O.R. technology), it's products, reputation, & the countless number of patents in groundbreaking golf ball development, you soon will. All the major golf manufacturers will claim unbelievable performance and results from their products in order to market their models; I can assure your the Srixon w-403ad does everything the company claims and then some. I was hesistant to post a review of this product (please see Srixon i-403ad review as well) in the hopes that the masses wouldn't catch on to the golf industries 'best kept secret' company. As the prior reviewer's have indicated, Srixon is indeed, one of, if not the most significant golf entity in Japan. I have always been a die hard Mizuno guy since circa' 1989. Mizuno's forgings are second to none. However, with the emergence of Srixon's undeniable technological advancements in ball development (personally use UR-Xs), their dedication to advancements in club design, it will be very interesting to see when these products begin to inundate the U.S. market. I can assure you I am not on Srixon's payroll. Prior to this driver I was using the 983k w/ aldila NV S-65. The w-403ad is hands down a superior driver in both *golf catch phrases to follow: 'distance and accuracy'. This is an extremely solid club. The ball dispersion for heel and toe mis-hits is anywhere from 10 to 20 yards from center cut. The feedback and feel of this driver when hit on the screws is exceptional. A nice tink resonating sound of the w-403 is much more appealing than the less forgiving 983k. Did I mention I bought this thing brand new for $188.00 on ebay. Srixon is here to stay. Funny 'ol Fuzzy Zoeller knew it all along.
