Best driver I've ever hit. I played today and was hitting 280-290 yd drives consistently. The ball just flies off the clubhead..With the price now down to $199 there isn't a better club for the money out there.I do recommend if you have a high swing speed (>100mph) to re-shaft because the stock stiff shaft isn't that stiff.I re-shafted with a UST Pro Force 65 Gold Stiff and it works much better than stock shaft. Just bought the TaylorMade R580 8.5 degree last weekend. Prior to buying it I was hitting a wore out Taylor Made TiBubble II hitting it about 240 - 250 yds off the tee. I have played two rounds with the 580 and am now hitting the ball between 280 - 310!!! This club is also very forgiving! When I hit the ball off the toe it still travels 230 - 250! The best purchase I have ever made when it comes to golf! Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: Nothing compares! |

just stared using a driver 1 year ago. it was a tm 360 12 degree. it game me a lot of confidence to hit the fairway or close. i got tired of being outdriven so i bought the r580 it has a ys-6 .350 tip. what can i say. i almost drove 4 greens today. i need to move back as my real short game is not that dependable. love the sound and control. hit the new nike ignite and felt like it sent shockwaves thru my whole body compared to the taylor made. TM R580 9.5 Stiff
Amazing. 30-40 yards longer, miss-hits stay in the fairway, but not as long. A lot of the improvement might be due to a move from a reg shaft to a stiff shaft. But regardless, I didn't miss a drive today. Very easy to hit, almost comical. Advice - 1. Tee it up a little higher 2. Set-up off the toe Enjoy! The problem I had with the 580 is typical of previous TM clubs I've had-300, Firesole,- is keeping the ball in the fairway. Generally the 580 was long but not very forgiving. It came with the standard TM shaft in stiff and after a few rounds I put in a Graphite Design 7 and still had problems. I have the same shaft in a Cobra SS 380 and it is more consistent. Customer Service I bought it through ebay. Similar Products Used: Titleist 983K, Mizuno MP001, Cobra SS380 |

AWESOME!!! I just bought a new set of clubs after playing with a terrible set of knock offs. I tried at least ten different drivers before settling on this one. It came down to the NIKE Ignite and this one. I chose this one after playing a round with both clubs. I absolutely love the feel of this club. I have the 10.5 Stiff Flex and couldn't be happier. With my old "knock off" which I swear was about 250cc, I was in the fairway about twice out of 18 holes. With this club I am in the fairway all but twice in a round and when I mis hit and slice, the slice is not nearly as pronounced. This club, along with the Adams IDEA Irons make a great set for the high handicapper. This club provided the distance and forgiveness I was lacking. With my new driver and a new set of irons, I have already lowered my score to between 78 and 85. This is down from 87-92 that I usually shot. The feel and control is great. I know when I hit a bad shot and I know when I hit it on the screws. Excellent club. I would also reccomend the 2004 model the R-580 XD. This is last years model but I thought it felt even better than the R-580 XD. Customer Service N/A |

R580 9.5 stiff
Got tired of my control problems with my Hawkeye driver and decided to try out the r580. It looks monstrous compared to the Hawkeye (400cc vs. 253), but it's very forgiving. I used to hook the ball with the Hawkeye and had to use a super-weak right hand grip to compensate. With the r580, I would slice a little with that same grip. I used a more neutral grip and now I CRUSH the ball. I'm still not as consistent as I would like, but I'm driving it much straighter and further. Whereas I had no margin for error with my old club, the r580 provides plenty. Got a great price too. Was $250 at golfsmith, pricematched (115%) to golf galaxy, used a coupon and traded in my Hawkeye. Including tax, I got it for $133 out the door brand new. Only caveat about this club is the sound. It sounds like glass breaking. The first time I played with my friend, he thought I broke the driver on the 1st hole. Customer Service Not needed. R580 10.5* Grafalloy Blue Stiff
Tried the R580 8.5* with standard stiff shaft and hit everything with a high fade when at the same time I was hitting both the Genex and AirMax with my normal low draw. The main reason for this is the standard Mas shaft in the R500 series is too flexible and of poor quality for a 100mph swing speed. At that stage I was sold on the Nickalus AirMax 430. Saw the R580 10.5* with Grafalloy Blue on Ebay and bought it as I knew this shaft had to be an improvement on the Mas shaft. What a difference a superior quality shaft makes. The Grafalloy Blue is very stiff and has low torque which keeps the blue flight down balancing the 10.5* loft and high launch angle of the R580. Would not have purchased this club with the Mas shaft and high loft but with the Grafalloy Blue shaft it’s an excellent driver. Similar Products Used: Nickent Genex 425 Nickalus AirMax 430 |
