Best driver I have owned. Much better than my older R7 Superquad driver that I've had for about 3 years.

Love the way it sets up and very easy to hit!

I purchased this club and found that it did indeed eliminate my slice. I adjusted the head to give a slight draw and it worked just as advertised. I tried a Cleveland before this with no good results.

I've tried 'em all, R1 through 9. I like to fiddle with things so this one pretty much keeps me busy all the time. Some of my screws are loose now, but that's okay.

After a half dozeb round with my new r9 I'm very pleased with the results. It took about two and half rounds to find the setting that suited me. And when I did it was like "yeah, that's what I've been loking for!" It was obvious to my golfing buddies too. They, nor I, can not get over the accuracy and distance I'm getting. TM has really done a great job with this model as far as I'm concerned.

To top it off, I got it on eBay for a great price. I plan to get the 3 wood asap.

I am reviewing the R9 460 with a Motore shaft, regular flex. I swing the driver between 90 and 95 mph.

As with some of the other reviewers, I found the club to be pleasant to look at. I don't like monster heads or square headed drivers. The first time I played with this club I was hitting nothing but low hooks, nearly smothering the ball (my timing may have been off since it was very early in the season. Then I switched the head to neutral position mid round and got the ball up somewhat better but I was still not satisfied. Put it back on ebay?? It did cross my mind. Then the next day my buddy suggested changing the position to open, but I tried between neutral and open first, and voila, there it was....sanity. I started hitting it straight and for me long. Even though the trajectory was lower than usual for me with the 9.5 degree head and Motore shaft, it was still nice because of how straight it was going.

Bottom line...a great club for me with the Motore shaft upgrade and the correct head position. Once I got used to the setup I really felt more confident than ever with my driving.

If you have less than 85 mph swing speed, I would not recommend the Motore regular shaft because you probably won't load it very well. If you do have the swing speed, try a Motore shaft...you can really feel the difference with this clubhead/shaft combo.

Model Reviewed: R9 460 TP w/Matrix HD6

First of all, this R9 460 TP only has 40yds of adjustability. no weights. it's all done by taking the shaft out and reinserting in a different position which are marked. The head is 460cc, the face is deep, not that wide, the back is huge and shaped like a triangle. It has a good look, not distracting at all. The shaft is red metallic and the top near the grip is white. It's easy to adjust by removing and reinstalling the shaft. Now for the review. I left it in neutral and tried a few hits. At the range i knocked all my shots straight as an arrow. Mine was 10.5 degree and the shots do go high and long, face feels really springy. On the course i had a more difficult time. Hitting mainly slight fades which were off the fairway a good 5yds but nothing too bad. I nailed a few drives straight as an arrow. Just need to get used to it. One thing i noticed is the matrix hd6 shaft feels great, nice and smooth, not boardy. I thought it would feel stiffer with that attachment on the tip, but nope, feels great. I'm going to try the half/left position to see if i can straighten out my fade a little. But like i said the face looks maybe 1 degree closed at the neutral position and does go straight when hit well. Even when hit on heel and toe, distance was decent. Sound wasn't distracting either. All in all a great club, can't wait to hit the range and try the different settings.

Model Reviewed: R9 Driver

I was having a few pops with the boys after I shot a nice little 67 on the links. Looked up, saw the TM Demo Van on our range and decided to take a peek. Told the rep what shaft I wanted and took it to the range. Teed up 4 balls in a row and hit four 300 yard drives right down the pike. I'm solid.

The rep said he'd never seen anyone hit the ball that good. I told him to get used to it and give me a stiffer shaft. Proceeded to launch 2 drives out 320 yards and left the rep with his mouth open. Rep said "you should go on tour" and I replied "I prefer a challenge".

You may not hit this driver as good as I did, in fact I'm sure you won't. However, give it a poke.

Rep gave me the driver for free and said that he could use guys like me for free advertising. If people see me hitting this driver they'll go out and buy it.

See you on the links gents.

I am a photographer so I have been reading the reviews on photographyreview.com for years. Now that I have been reading the driver reviews on this site I am seeing a big discrepancy. It seems obvious to me that most people can test out a camera lens and see if it's good or not. Testing a golf driver doesn't seem to cut and dried. It appears that people are deciding if drivers are good or not based on their own swings which may or may not fit the driver. Considering this may be the case, I'll do what I can to be objective and accurate.

I was hitting a Cobra 440 SZ with a 10.5 loft. I could hit it pretty well at times but I wasn't real consistent. I haven't golfed consistently until this year either. On a flat fairway with no wind I could hit it about 260 yards. I kept reading that the new drivers were more forgiving and better consistency was the rule. After much shopping I purchased an 09 Burner which I thought would really help my game. I was wrong. I was hitting it all over, but the most aggravating part was that my old slice returned after years of not being a problem. I did hit it very long and straight a couple of times but that was it. I also had an opportunity to hit an R7 CGB which was much more consistent but unavailable to me.

I asked a club pro what current driver was close to the CGB and he suggested the R9 460. I returned the Burner after finding out the face was caving in and bought the R9 460. The head is set on L and my drives are much straighter and much more consistent. I have the 9.5 loft and the trajectory is as far as I'm concerned, perfect. My swing speed as 104 mph and my good drives are over 270 yards. I am no expert but so far I really like this driver.

This is a pretty good club for players that can't get the ball in the air. It just wasn't good for my swing. I would hit the ball extremely high and if you are in windy conditions; it will be a struggle to get a consistent outcome. It is an okay club other then the fact that the ball goes straight up in the air. I play a lot of courses in the area of Lake Michigan so I have to be careful how high I hit it due to the wind. I sold the R9 460 and bought a 909D3 8.5* and it is easy to hit the ball high if needed and is just as easy to keep the ball down in the wind.

I won this club on Taylormade night at Golf Galaxy. The 460 is OK but I got no increase in distance, until I tried the TP with the Motore F1 shaft. WOW!! I am getting 20+ more yards with this shaft and straight. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra 100 to upgrade to the TP version.
