Titleist 975 J-VS Titanium Drivers

DESCRIPTION

A tour-proven, 312cc cousin of the 975J. The 975J•VS is the most played Titleist driver on the PGA Tour. The head has been weighted to enhance players who prefer a straight to drawing ball flight.

Boy there must be some lousy short games from people on this site. I constantly read about 80's and 90's shooters hitting it 300+, 80%+ of fairways hit. Boys, go and learn how to chip and putt, your driving distance is longer than 90% of tour players and combined distance/accuracy would be ranked first on the PGA tour. I will try to give an honest appraisal of this driver and my game. I got one cheap when 983 came out but had to re-shaft it with a grafalloy blue stiff (the factory shaft was absolute crap). I have hit some of the longest drives of my life with this driver, and have hit 1 drive a genuine 300+ metres. My average however, would be around 220-230 metres as I don't nail every drive I hit. On a good day I might hit 5 or 6 up past 270, but this driver is not forgiving and always has a few 200-220 hits when you miss the sweet spot. It has reasonably low spin and is accurate. In the hands of a tour player or sratch golfer with a grooved swing, this would be one of the best drivers you could get, but for the majority of we mere mortals I would reccomend a larger headed driver (I curently use a N1PRO 400cc) for more consistent, if less spectacular, results.

I recently purchased the Titleist 975 J-VS (8.5 degree) on eBay. I was looking for the driver that would change my game for my swing speed that hovers around 110 mph. Well I found it. It's probably 10-15 yards farther than any of the other models I've tried and very accurate. Today's round posted 12/14 fairways hit (85%) with an average distance off the tee of 285 yards. It doesn't even compare with the others. Like the saying...."Titleist, the #1 name in golf"...holds true. If you want a long and accurate driver I highly recommend this driver for the low to mid handicapper.

I've been searching for a driver which fit my swing for a long time. Last week I bought a 2nd hand 975J-VS with YS-6 stiff shaft, without practice I took it to course and made 90%+ fairway hit...average 280yrds with a nice high draw. The best driver I ever hit. I always thought Titleist drives were difficult to hit as they were deigned for better players, boy I was wrong! It is the first driver I feel extremely comfortable to swing with. The balance is great!

Best Driver I have ever hit. I have been playing now for 5 years, and always hit a 2 iron off of the tee as I could bang that out 250 yards and fairly straight most of the time....my driver always had big banana slices on it and tried other players drivers with same result. When Titleist came out with the 983 the price dropped on the 975 and I broke down and said now is the time to buy a decent driver and if I'm going to take my game to the next level I have to learn to hit the driver....best move I have ever made. The club head is ascetically pleasing as it is not too over-sized, I have the YS-6 shaft on my driver and I kid you not I bang this club out consistently 280-300 yards sometimes more depending on the hole. My shots are either slight draws or straight, with the occasional weak fade if I do not hit through the ball on my swing. I love the club so much it is now my most favourite club in the bag. I see flashes of greatness in my game and even shot a career round of 82 a couple of weeks ago. This club has taught me the importance of swinging through the ball which I am now beginning to transfer through with my irons as well. I just bought the Titleist 980F strong fairway wood today and used it 4 times and just loved it. I can honestly say I believe I will be shooting low 80's next year on a consistent basis, and I owe it to finally learning how to hit a driver.I have tried to hit other drivers since using the 975 JVS and even though I can now hit them with better results nothing still compares to the Titleist.

I was surprised how forgiving this driver is. They always said that 975's are for better players and I'm centainly not one of them. I couldn't believe how many fairwars I've been hitting with this driver with decent distance. It had a Bi-Matrix shaft and I thought it was too heavy for me. So, I had it re-shafted with the Grafaloy Blue which then gave me better distance. This one is staying in my bag.

I have gone through countless drivers in the last year (since the 975D). Tried 2 Nike drivers for about 4 months. Used a Hippo driver. Used a Firesole driver. Absolutely none of those drivers can touch the 975 J-VS. I had it reshafted with the YS-6 shaft with a stiff flex. This club has the best feel I have ever felt with my driver. I am back to hitting fairways a long way down again with accuracy. I am only 5-8 at 215 lbs. and I can smack it out to 300+ with ease with a shaft that measures 44.25". Wow this is the greatest driver. Made me excited hit driver again. Haven't said that since my 975 D broke. If you can get your hands on one DO IT.

I have always liked the Titleist drivers. There is just something about them that gives you that confidence that you are going to hit a good drive. This club is no exception. It is easy to work, quite straight and very long. The head is a great compact 312cc and it very appealing to look at. Unlike the massive 400cc heads going around. A fantastic club for the better player.

Great club. Easy to square up and hit. You must be able to select a shaft that is right for you. I have the speeder. Even though I like it, I could have used a lighter shaft. I am only 5'9" and 155 lbs. But I can still hit 275 when I am on my game. That just goes to show you how far technology has gotten. Unless you have a bad swing, it is pretty difficult to hit a slice with this club. All in all, I beleieve Titlist make the best drivers for my money. Now you be the judge.
