Titleist 975J Drivers

Titleist 975J Drivers

DESCRIPTION

A new 300cc Prototype Driver... the 975J has been seen in many Tour bags early in '01. Very similar look to its wildly popular predecessor the 975D. Just slightly larger and with a different look to the face... scoreing lines are placed in an "insert" look a'la the Callaway GBB. ~CB

This is the best driver in golf. What a magnificient piece of equipment. Thump, thump, thump. That is the sound of balls going deep. Very deep. I can do anything I want to with this driver except hit a hard low hook. But thats okay. It loves a big juicy fade that goes forever. Second favorite is the nid height draw that hits red hot and rolls and rolls and rolls. I have hit extremely long balls with this driver. A huge asset is that you can hit this thing anywhere out on the toe and still get tremendous distance. Oddly those toe shots feel weak but you look up and it's still going. I have played a GBB, Mizuno, and 975D. I really liked all those drivers but this is in another league entirely. Amazing.

i had a ping tisi and thought i had found my club. then i tried the 975j. the difference is amazing. the head feels alot smaller(even though its only an 11cc difference) and the club just seems to swing easier. distances are equal to the taylor made and ping drivers i've tried. the flight path seems a bit high but not ballooning. i am thinking of switching to a proforce shaft to lower the trajectory. the stock titleist ultralight 60 stiff plays like a regular flex. very forgiving but still offering great feedback. mishits go straight and far but you definately know how you mishit. right now, this is my favorite club in my bag.

I have been playing around with some of the current drivers and had settled on the Mizuno 300S as the best fit. First off the 300S ( with the proper shaft for you) is just stupid long. I tend to prefer the smaller to midsize and more classic looking heads, i.e. 975D, Precpt 260LS, Mizuno 300S, rather than the rather massive Taylor 360, & Ping Look. I have a software program that I keep all of my stats on and I checked my Sunday round using the 975J against my regular stats (Non 300'S). Results were a gain of 12.4 yards on average. Measured on the 12 holes where I used driver off the tee. This is with a Titleist Professional ball, not a Pro V1. With the Mizuno 300S (10 deg)I had a gain of 19.3 Yards on average. So while it ins't the longest, I did find it to be very accurate, a breeze to hit, plenty long, and very good trajectory control. The sound isn't the same as a 975D but really not that far off of it either. It certainly isn't a Callaway "Whink" at impact. This is a very solid offering from Titleist and while expensive ( That is why the 4* on the value) it does deliver the goods. Having the confidence to nail a tee shot not only long but right where you want it is of greater importance to me v.s. the extra length that I am getting from the Mizuno. Feel free to email me if you have further questions.

This driver is awesome. I didnt see much loss of distance on off center hits. It carried real dfar and rolled a long ways too. If you want to get one make sure to get fitted to maximize distance and accuracy. I did and the results are amazing. I really like this driver.

A total disapointment, felt hollow. Very forgiving, but had nothing to forgive. Ball didn't go anywhere and was very hard to work. Stay with the d, a much better club.

I've used Callaway drivers for over ten years. I recently purchased the VFT 8.5* pro series. I thought it was the best club available until I hit the new 975J. I had the opportunity to be fitted by Titleist reprsentatives at a demo day. They measured ball speed, launch angle and spin rate using specially marked balls and a strobe camera. Then recommended a 975J w/ 6.5* loft and a Pro force 75 stiff shaft. The combination is awesome. My carry yardage has remained the same but my total distance including roll has increased by 10-20 yards. The club is also very forgiving and easy to control. I highly recommend it to anyone.

Absolutely the best complete driver i've ever teed it up with. Other drivers have been longer, but none as accurate at this length off the tee. the Harrison shaft is a great complement to a forgiving clubhead like this one. If you have the money get this one.

Customer Service

Outstanding customer service. Sent custom built model w/ Harrison shaft for my personal use.

This club is longer than the 975D, but all the extra distance is in the air, fine for firm fairways but not so good for soft ones. The increidible feature for me is the distance on mis-hits, espically toe shots, I get 90-95% of normal distance. Overall the club is more playable than the D, fairly easy to work either way and good trajectory. This is a solid club, longer that the D and more forgiving. I highly reccommend to all levels.

Anyone who ever wanted to hit a 975d but couldn't handle it BUY THIS CLUB. Own 8.5 ei-70, definite left tendency. Long long long, People actual stopped and watched me hit balls with this thing. I hit a low ball naturally I could probably handle a 7.5 but went with 8.5 to limit sidespin. GET THE RIGHT SHAFT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ADVICE.
Good luck

This club is just great. I previously had the Titleist 976R 9* driver in my bag and loved it. I've hit the 975D also, and it is a little bit nicer than the R, but not much of a distance change but more of a feel change. After playing the 975J 8.5* driver for about a week, I have added 15-20 off the tee and am hitting them straighter. The best thing about the club though, is mis-hits are hit just as far as a flush perfect shot. It's tough to mess up with this club. If you've got some money laying around, GET ONE OF THESE!
