Titleist 975J Drivers

Titleist 975J Drivers

DESCRIPTION

A new 300cc Prototype Driver... the 975J has been seen in many Tour bags early in '01. Very similar look to its wildly popular predecessor the 975D. Just slightly larger and with a different look to the face... scoreing lines are placed in an "insert" look a'la the Callaway GBB. ~CB

I have owned all the drivers that I have listed above at one time or another in the short time that I have been playing (1 year)and this driver has instilled the most confidence on the tee than any other driver that I have listed. It is easier to hit for me than the 44" Ping I3. It is also similiar in distance as the Orlimar HipTi. It is balanced kinda head heavy like the 975D, I mean you definitely feel where the head is during your swing. Nothing vague about feel of where the head is or where you hit it on the face. Less solid feeling than the 975D, but still solid compared to the other drivers. It sounds very nice too. Not tinny at all kinda like in between the 975D and the HipTi. It doesn't feel or look like the 314cc's or whatever size it is. Just slightly larger in size than the "D" in feel. I recommend this to any person looking for a driver that wants something solid with weight to it and has forgiveness and distance.

Customer Service

Very easy to get a hold of an Acushnet cust service rep. and get answers and recommendations. Very reasonable prices for things like a reshaft. For example, Callaway charges over $100.OO for a ProForce 65 reshaft. Acushnet only charges $45.00

This club really surprised me from the 1st day I demoed it. It is well balanced, solid and easy to hit. Ive hit some very long drives with this club, but for me the strength of this driver is the quality of miss hits. Just a slight distance loss , and you have to make a very bad swing to hit this club out of play. Easily as forgiving as the Taylor 300 series but not a balloon factor as can happen on a mistimed 320-360 swing.

I currently play the 975 D and love it. Couldnt play w/out it. Just recently demoed the J driver with a proforce shaft in it and wasnt too high on it. Most of my shots were hooked and the distance improvement wasnt overly visible. Also, the sound it makes is little wierd. Nevertheless the feeling is a little better than the D,especially if u pure it.

Great Club. A little over priced but still a solid club. Very forgiving on mishits and always goes down the fairway. When I hit it on the sweet spot, I could easily crush the ball 300+.

Model Reviewed: 975J vs. 975D

While the J no doubt offers more forgiveness than the D, I don't find it to be any longer -- and I've tried 8.5, 9.5 and 10.5 lofts vs. the 9.5D I own. I also don't like the more "pingy" sound, which makes it more like the Callaway and Pings and less like the more muted and distinctive persimmon "crack" of the D. Good club, no doubt, but not any kind of quantam leap over the D, which may be why Tiger still uses the D rather than the J. Why mess with success?

After using a friends 975D I tried to find one but discovered that it had been replaced by the 975J. I did my homework on the "J" and found much good feedback. I am here to add more.

It is the best feeling, longest driver I have ever hit, and very forgiving.

This club has greatly improved my game off the tees. Hitting the ball at least 20 yards further, and control has improved. The larger clubface and the low-torque UST Proforce 75 shaft make this club much more forgiving than my 975D. You should definitely give this club a try.

I had been playing a Lynx Parallax and had been averaging 270 yds/drive, but was unhappy with the inconsistency. Searching for a new driver, I had narrowed to the Titleist 975J and the TM 320. I bought the TM 320, played one round with it and HATED it. It wasn't very forgiving for off-center shots and I lost 30 yds off the tee. Horrible, horrible club. After returning it, I bought the 975J and couldn't be happier. Great club - best driver I've hit with. I have the 9.5 degree loft and a stiff EI 70 shaft. The ball flight isn't as high as some of these other new trampoline clubs. I'm still averaging 270-280 yds with the Titleist and I find it VERY forgiving for off center hits. I had heard it was more difficult to shape shots, but I disagree. I am still able to draw the ball fairly well, or fade as needed. I DO NOT work for any golf companies, and no one paid me to write this review. I just love the club.
