This is a great driver - it sits "square", has a smallish head compared with many of today's drivers but is forgiving. I used to play off 4, but my handicap has crept up to 10 - much of it due to poor driving. I have played a variety of drivers in the past few years from Cobra, Ping and Taylor Made but always had 2 or 3 drives per round which got me into big trouble. Lofts were from 7.5 degrees up to 9 as I was seeking a penetrating flight. My 905R is 10.5 BUT with a low torque stiff Proforce V2 shaft. What a revelation! No more snap hooks - and whilst the flight is higher than I have been used to, it still gets good run and bores through the wind well. It is slightly longer than other drivers I have used and far more accurate. It has already helped my handicap to come down. I highly recommend this shaft / head combination to anyone seeking good length with more accuracy.

Everything old is new again. Just went back to this club after trying various tileist models in the past few years. Cant get over how easy and straight this club is. Probably one of the prettiest Titleists made. Had the 909 in every version as well as the 907 series. They are all gone as I cant find anything that performs as well as this. Just a great club all around. Too bad companies have to keep coming up with a new product to get people to buy their game. If you dont mind being out of date you wont regret this club. At a fraction of the cost you will be very happy. The technology in the past 3 years is all about changing lofts and lies and weighting. ONce you have found the settings you want no need to tinker. Get one of these that works and just keep pounding them down the fairway..................................

As I only shoot in the 80s I don't hit this thing 300 yards easily, you need to be a 90s shooter chopper to do that. But this is without doubt the best all round driver I've ever hit. Long, sweet feeling and reliable. It ust gives you confidence that you know where the ball will go standing over it. Very consistent ball flight and distance. Got it cheap on ebay too, bargain as I don't think I could find a better driver than this one.

Awesome driver, oldie but goodie. I have this and the brand new Adams 9604 something, it's all Black, just got it yesterday. The Adams might be a tad longer by like 5 - 10 yards, but keep in mind my Adams is brand spanking new. Both clubs set up the same, smaller head, I HATE the new giant head drivers. They both also have open faces, not this closed by 1 degree crap for slicers. If you want bang for your buck get this old Titleist 905R, I got it used for $65 compared to the brand new 2010 Adams for $379......... both are awesome drivers and very similar in head size, and set up........

I just tried this driver today, 11-05-09. It is on consignment from a golf store. I'm 61, was driving the ball 235 into a 25 to 30 mile wind, using skycaddie reference, two drives of 278 and 301 with wind. I've been using a Ping G2, with adilia NVSA reg shaft. Never hit my Ping like this. Great Driver.

had this driver for about 2 years now and still love it. i hit about 220-240 off the tee with it normally. when you hit this out of the middle it really flies i get about 50yards more!!! tried all the other new drivers out there with a pro not long ago and he told me to keep the one i had. guess it must still be a top driver with pro's like ross fisher and robert karlsson still using it.

Model Reviewed: Titleist 905R 9.5* Speeder Stiff

After playing this club for a month I can only say I don't see why anyone would play another driver. When you pick up a Titleist club it doesn't take long to see why their equipment is more expensive than most. You can just feel the quality. The 905R has the solid feel that translates to quality. It almost feels like one of the old persimmon drivers it's so solid. The Fujikura Speeder stiff shaft and 9.5 degree loft are perfect for me ( age 51 ). I'll settle for 240-250 in the fairway every time....... I'd think twice about purchasing a more recent model before trying this one.

Used a Titleist 975D 10.5 that I won in a Tournament years ago, and had very good results. Compared to the new largers drivers, I have been loosing distance on my drives, compared to playing partners, deciding it was time to get a new driver. I had tried a number of the new drivers, but found that I seemed to hit everything too high, almost balooning my shots. I sensed that I needed lower loft because of this, so I bought a 905R in 8.5 degree and a stiff shaft. Its great. Ball flight is lower, and the ball is very workable. More forgiving that my 975D despite the reduction in loft. Don't tell my swing coach, as he always tended to take the lower lofted drivers out of my hands. Well, I'm not tell him this time around. Love the club. Got it on EBay, so it was very reasonable.

I've used a Callaway Great Big Bertha Hawkeye for what seems like forever now. I have never been a big fan of the 400cc - 460cc driver because it looked too bulky to hit; however, the Titleist 905R hides its bulk extremely well at address and doesn't feel like you're swinging a "turtle on a stick."

I would highly recommend this club. After testing drivers for about a month at local stores, I stumbled across a used 905R with a regular flex shaft. Since I normally used a stiff flex, this presented a problem. I've always been a huge proponent of the UST Proforce shafts. Fortunately, I found my driver on Ebay for a very reasonable price.

I would even go as far as to rate this club over the newer 909D-series of drivers available - especially if you are trying to save a buck or two.
