Model Reviewed: Top Flite Tour 420 cc

Bought this driver cheap at SportMart. Paid about $60 for it a year ago. Original list price was about $150. Not a bad driver for the money. A relatively short shaft, 44.5 inches, so easier to hit which the reason I bought it. I was trying to hit an Adam Redline and just had too much trouble controlling the slice. Shaft length of Adams is 46 inches along with 460 cc head size. The combination made it more difficult to control. Drive distance is good when hit properly. Previous post talked about club head breaking. I did not have that problem, but then I am not a big hitter. My swing speed is about 85-88 mph. I also bought the matching 3 wood and this is a real fine 3 wood. Terrific distance. So for a high handicap golfer this driver and 3 wood are fine and I would recommend.

I bought this driver to get a cheap and large-headed club to practice my swing. It comes with UST 75 Tour shaft, which felt very good and the same goes with Winn grip it had. First it felt quite good and forgiving, maybe the regular shaft was a bit too flexible for me because I hit quite hard but anyways I got much longer drives with this than with my old Wilson driver. However, soon I saw the distinct proof of the cheapness... Only after about 100 strokes the head cracked! It was a perfectly good and hard tee shot - the carbon (plastic?) parts just cannot handle the stress caused by big hits. I cannot recommend this club to anyone. Mine may have manufacturing defect but I cannot tell for sure and certainly won't try another one. Maybe senior players and those with very low club head speeds would like it and in their bag it would probably last longer. In hands of hard-hitters it will come to pieces in no time.
