Zero Tolerance Crown Jewel Spectra Drivers

Zero Tolerance Crown Jewel Spectra Drivers

DESCRIPTION

From ZT Golf: "Crown Jewel Spectra has 320 cc of size, 2 inch face height and is metallic black in color. It does not look that big in comparison with the actual size. Feeling is very solid and sound is mid to high pitch. It has a boring trajectory with soft landing, resulting in more rolls. It hits straight and easy with a minimum dispersion."

I was finally able to get out and give a playing test to my 10* CJ Spectra.
It is really a nice looking club, more understated than gaudy, but it gave a real feeling of confidence at address. I had previously only had a chance to go to the driving range and
wanted to play an actual round before submitting my review.
So far what I previewed on the range is really coming true on the course!!
This club does 3 things REALLY well,,,Long, Straight and Consistant. First time out I hit 100% of fairways,,,,yahoo! One hole was playing really slow so after the others teed off, I hit a second ball, a "frozen rope" instant replay of my first. When I got to the balls they were only about 5 yards apart! It got me the "Mr Consistant" nickname for the rest of the round :> IMO and having owned both, it is more forgiving and accurate than my Ping TiSI and just as long or longer, with a slightly lower trajectory. The HP200 regular flex shaft fits my 90 mph swing perfectly with this head, but what I really like abput the HP-200 most is it's super steady feel. I have tried very lightweight shafts of 50-60 grams, but they give me inconsistant performance. I also have had reduced distance with very lightweight shafts.
I thougt the 3* torque spec for this shaft was a misprint, but it feels definitely below my precision composites PC50 at 4*. The HP-200 is in a very good weight range for me, lighter than steel but still with very solid feel. On off-center hits I can tell, but there is not a big wobble like can be felt with some lower cost high torque shaft like Aldila VX, the feeling was more like Apollo steel. The flex point appears and feels higher than Cushin 350 in my Tisi, and I think this contributes to overall lower ball flight and better accuracy than Ping, even though they are a dead on match at 332 gr, D5, 45". I think the HP-200 shaft is a real sleeper. I dont know if ZT does spining of shafts on assembly, but the head tracking is like its "on rails".
In Summary....This is a great club bar none! Its definitely in my bag. If you are in the market for a new driver, don't buy anything before you give the CJ Spectra a try, you may be missing out on the best drive of your life!

This club is longer than my current driver a Snake Eyes Maraging Steel 9*.
I got my Spectra with the Zero Tolerance Pro 2.5 shaft in stiff flex at 45". The ball just jumps off this club. My first trip to the range I was hitting balls to the 240 marker with ease. It was easily 10 to 15 yards longer than my current driver. I wish this was the same color as the new maxima that is out, but it is a good looking club in its own right. The trajectory is very good for me. The ball takes off and then runs after it lands. I was hitting some drives in the 270 range which is longer than I was hitting before. It looks similar to the Ping. I found this club to be very forgiving at 320 cc. It provides alot of confidence. I think that this club can be used by a variety of golfers from low to high handicaps. I highly recommend this driver.

This club is a keeper. Very soild feeling at impact and a great sound to the ears. Unlike most models out today that have the high pitch ring to them. I hit this Driver just as far or futher than a long list of others I could name....(Titleist,Callaway,KZG,ect.) But The best thing is the amount of roll I get afterwards. While other fly take a short hop and stop this thing land with some heat left behind it for another 15yds or more. About Control? My Spectra came with their ZT 2.5pro shaft a very good shaft. the ball never wants to baloon on me and at only 2.5* torque I can pick out my target and rip it right at it. All being said if your even thinking about this driver and are undecided. Go ahead and get it. For the money (shop around) you can't beat it. It has the best parts of all other top name drivers rolled into one. It's in the bag because it works.

The only thing I wish was I could get the same results from a 230-260cc head/ I don't like larger head trend going on in golf today. But you have to go with what works.

I shafted up a 10 degree Spectra on a UST 65 Gold shaft. The performance of this club was awesome. So awesome that I decided to let my Ping stand by and watch. The distance and especially the forgiveness of this club was unmatched by any other club that I have. And for the price you can buy one for it's definitely worth it. Even on off center hits my balls seemed to go long and straight. I was able to work the club very easily, and it felt very solid at impact. This driver will stay in my bag, and I will sell my Ping and Titleist 975D.

The Spectra compared very favorably to my current driver the Ping TiSi with similar specs and shaft. Nearly equal in distance with a tad more roll (crucial in windy conditions). Equally forgiving and extremely user friendly.

Considering the Spectra retails for nearly half the price of the Ping I wished I would have tried the Spectra first!

For buyers wanting premium driver performance but only have the budget for mid level clubs like the Callaway Steelhead Plus Driver or the Ping i3 Driver THIS IS YOUR STICK!

Customer Service

Outstanding. Lots of personal one on one attention not normally found when dealing with the big name manufacturers

I tested the 10 degree Spectra with an Innovative Innolite Regular flex shaft. I tested the club twice at the range and once on the course. The range trips were unproductive since I always got stuck using tees that were too short for this club. Once I got onto the course though I noticed why everyone was raving about this club. It is forgiving and long. This club had a high trajectory for me but not what people would consider as ballooning. I didn't get to see how much roll this club could produce since the fairways were wet. I would hit a booming drive and then see splat. If this club produces any roll at all I would have hit some of my longest drives ever. Great club at a great price.

For the price, this is the best driver out on the market. Is it perfect? No, as no driver is perfect, but for the price this thing is about as good as you can get.

The feeling at impact is great, the head is easy to track, and the forgiveness of the head is outstanding.

Model Reviewed: 9 degree

Had two Spectra drivers made up, one for myself and the other for my dad. Quick background. I am 28 years old, 5'8", with driver swing speed around 100-105 mph. My usual driver is the King Cobra Stainless Deepface with 44.5 inch Aldila UL shaft. My dad is 59 years young, 5'6", driver swing speed around 85-90 mph. His driver is the Honma titanium 10.5 degree, 45 inches.

Me first. I tested the Spectra 9 degree fitted with Proforce 65 S flex, 45.5 inches. Head weight was spot on at 200 grams, and the swing weight came out at D4.

a) Looks - The club sits well behind the ball. Fraction closed, but hardly noticeable. The crown is flattish, not unlike the Ping Tisi. The colour is dark but not black like the Tisi. The aiming mark is a definite plus.

b) Feel - Solid. The sound is a heavy "crack" rather than a loud, resonating "tink". I can definitely feel where the contact was made.

c) Distance - Good. Certainly longer than my Cobra Stainless. On average, about 5 to 10 yards longer. Landing about 250-260 mark and rolling another 15 to 20 yards. I've tried TM Ti2, Cobra Forged Ti, GBB, BBB, 975D, GS 260, and the Cubic Balance Tizirc, and only the Tizirc (with 48 inch shaft) was longer than the Spectra. I have not tried the ERC or other thin faced drivers.

d) Trajectory - Mid to slightly high. Not ballooning though. Flattish trajectory, even into the wind.

e) Forgiveness - This is the strong point of this driver. I was aiming at an area about 20 yards wide at the range which I hit time after time. Played 18 holes and hit 9 out of 11 times I used the Spectra.

I have been using the Cobra Stainless for 4 years now, unable to find a suitable replacement. I have found one now. Spectra is an excellent all round driver ... exactly what I am looking for.

The jury is still out for my dad. He is hitting some beautiful draws with the 10 degree driver. Fitted his with Proforce 55 A flex at 45.5 inches. D3 swingweight.

He thought the sound was a bit "dull" compared to his Honma driver. When hit side by side, he thought the Honma had gone further, but walking up to the balls, the Spectra was further by at least 5 yards each time. He usually struggles to hit a draw, but had no trouble with the Spectra. This puzzled us somewhat, since the Honma sits slightly more closed than the Spectra and has a smaller head (thus easier to roll over). It may have something to do with the shaft-head combination. Or maybe ZT has used some kind of draw favouring system (heel weighting, face curvature, etc) ... what's the secret John?

It will be another couple of weeks before he decides whether he will drop the Honma and carry the Spectra. He probably will, since he is hitting it further and with more control ... his only complaint is that the sound isn't a bit "hotter". I am sure he will get used this heavier sound.

Jono.

Customer Service

Great customer service. The first Spectra I received had a small flaw in the finish. This was replaced straight away. John is very helpful over the phone.

Product specs:
11 Deg., Graffaloy Prolite, Reg. flex, 44"

Personal info:
5'4", 160lbs., shoot in the 80's, driver swingspeed around 90 mph. Am currently streaky with the driver; when I'm on, I'm usually in the fairway averaging 250.

MY THOUGHTS:

Cosmetics/appearance -
I thought it looked fine (not the prettiest girl at the dance, but certainly respectable.) It has a nice & neutral grey paint on top & silver bottom. I especially appreciate the tasteful & attractive verbiage/logo on the sole. At the same size as the Ping Tisi (320cc), it looks smaller. The closed face might throw some off, it did me at first.

Feel -
I thought that it has kind of harsh metallic feel, but it's a relative & personal thing. I was reminded of it every first hit with, but I could live with it as I quickly forgot about it after a few hits.

Performance -
I think it has a great trajectory; not flat & doesnt balloon, but boring with a med height with good roll. Good control & consistent distances (I could draw and probably fade it as well - I could never b4). And I think it's more forgiving than not.

Here's the but. I've been wanting a bigger headed driver (had been hitting a 230cc), but I think 320cc is just too big for me. Given my stature, I had trouble being aggressive with it to get the distance I need to be competitive on the course.

I don't think it's a good fit for me (becuz of its size), but given others' good results, I think it would be worth anyone giving it a shot.
