My family gave me the 3 and 5 for Christmas back when they were first introduced. Although I have tried most of the newer offerings, I keep going back to these. In fact I just ordered the 7 wood from Callaway Preowned to replace my 3 iron. I realize the technology of fairway metals have changed drastically in eight years, but I hit these straight and I'm sticking with them.

Model Reviewed: Callaway 2004 - 3 Wood

An oldie but a goodie! I bought this Callaway stainless 3 wood (2004 model)on a whim to match my Callaway driver & couldn't be more surprised!

This wood delivers a great ball flight and averages about 230-250 on the driving range for me. I generally fade or slice my drivers, and this fairway 3 wood is straight 8 times out of 10 (when I swing correctly). It is not a cosmetically fancy metal wood by any means, but MAN does it do the job. Considering I bought it for $16 bucks with a stiff graphite shaft, it was a good purchase in my opinion.

I have used Wilson ProStaff, Cleveland HiBore, and Sonartec fairway woods in the past and this Callaway is every bit as good as the Cleveland and Sonartec. I would say my old Sonartec (which I am keeping by the way) is still my favorite fairway wood because I can shape shots with it better....but it is not as long as this Callaway. The Callaway has a pure feel to it, like the ball is jumping off the face. My old HiBore was just as good as this wood, but it was a little 'softer' feeling and had higher ball flight, and slightly more forgiveness. Doesn't compare to the old ProStaff wood (that was a basic fairway wood with shorter distance).

If you have the chance to pick this Callaway up, check them out. Definitely a money club in the bag. Easy to find on Ebay & CallawayPreOwned.com

Model Reviewed: 3 & 5 wood

These are the only clubs that just continue to stay in my bag. I haven't found anything that is any better than these. I like steel shafts so I replaced the uniflex stock shaft with dynamic gold stiff shafts and I can hit them just as far and much straighter than any fairway wood out including graphite shafts. I'm a fairly long hitter not PGA long but I can hit my 3 wood around 260 so maybe thats why the steel shaft doesn't really effect my distance, I don't know. Bottom line though, there is no use spending a ton of money on fairway woods when you can find these really cheap and they are gonna perform just as good as anything else and save you a good bit of money at the same time. Very easy to hit and still IMHO the best fairway woods Callaway has ever made.

Customer Service

never used but Callaway golf preowned is an excellent place to pick up used clubs that are in better condition than they rate them plus you get a waranty.

Bought an ex-demo 3 wood with stock RCH 75w graphite shaft. I like the forgiveness, ease of use, balance and the hitting sound. I was able to immediately get used to the club and I didn't have to go through a familarization process like many other club. Distance and accuracy were good. The graphite shaft feels a bit "lumpy" at times and is not as responsive as other high quality shaft I've come across. Then again, the technology applied to this shaft is 4 years old. Nonetheless, I'm happy with the purchase and I regret not having bought it earlier.

I bought a set of these off eBay as a starter set of fairway woods. They look nice but I have never been able to hit them with any degree of consistency. I know that my swing needs a lot of help, and I am working on that, but I picked up an Adams Tight Lies strong-3 wood and bombed it straight over the 150 yard marker at the range on my first stroke. Sorry, but the Callaways just came to end of their usefulness in my bag.

Probably a good club for a better golfer, but for a rookie like me there are much easier clubs to hit that are available at much better prices.

Model Reviewed: 2004 callaway big bertha 5+, 7 fairway wood

I wanted to give a review of the 2004 callaway big bertha 5+ and 7 fairway woods. These clubs are AMAZING! I recently purchased them for a very affordable price and the performance you get out of them is a steal! The look and feel of them alone is worth it. But then you hit them and you can't believe how far and true they fly. I highly, highly recommend any golfer to purchase these clubs and add them to your bag immediately. They are great from the tee, fairway, and rough. I wanted to share this with all golfers out there to help their game.

Nice club. Easy to pick the ball from the fairway. I have the RCH 75 regular graphite shaft and it's a little too whippy so I need to swing smoothly. If you have a fast swing, go for the firm shaft ...

Customer Service

Didnt use it, but I know that Callaway stands behind their product like no other.

Model Reviewed: 15-degree 2004 Callaway 3-wood

My last review was in Sept.2006, I've been playing with this club since then (after reshafting with Grafalloy Blue ProLaunch) and I am really enjoying this club (I have to admit that Callaway stock shaft did not work for me). Off the Tee I could hit 200-210 yds with very good ball dispersion. I am not a long hitter so I have to reply on playing smart and accuracy. This Callaway club is as good as any 3-wood club out there, IMO, if not better... I also bent my X-16 Callaway irons to 2-degree upright and they make a HUGE difference in my game. I am consistently shooting in the 87-92 now, so hopefully I will be playing much better by the end of this season

Customer Service

No one is better than Callaway in terms of customer service... Period !!!

Model Reviewed: Callaway BB 2004 15-degree 3-wood

I am not a very long hitter, shooting in the 87-95 range which is Ok with me. I have a 15-degree 3-wood that came with the Callaway R-flex stock graphite shaft. I liked it but I had to compensate too much when I used it (it's not the club, it's my swing), i.e. I had to slightly close the club face with a strong grip and aimed left with the hope that the ball will land on the fairway (it works 75% of the time). I had it reshafted with the R-flex Grafalloy ProLaunch Blue and it sure made a big difference, I hit it at least as long as before , but more importantly now I have a "square" set up and "neutral" grip which I feel a lot more comfortable with... The ball now has a much better flight because I don't have to close the club face... With time, I am pretty sure that I would enjoy this club a lot more. In fact, I like the Grafalloy ProLaunch Blue shaft so much I am going to reshaft my Callaway Titanium 2004 360cc driver with it, hopefully my game would be more consistent... I think the Grafalloy Prolaunch has a 2.8 low torque

Customer Service

Callaway customer service department is the best. I would rate it A+++++ . I buy Callaway golf clubs due to its customer service department. Callaway will bend backward to work with customers. This is the model that other companies should use as benchmark

Model Reviewed: big bertha 2004 7wood

bought it from callaway preowned in very good condition(it was). Know that it's in reality a 5wood. Played it in rough, in fairway, off the tee, and with uneven lies. I found it easy to hit, which is a bit surprising since fairway woods have always given me inconsistent results. The key, I believe, is the very high trajectory. My big bertha 2004 3 iron is 20 degrees vs. this one at 21 but the difference in initial ball flight elevation is huge.

The club is a regular graphite shaft and is a keeper.
