Model Reviewed: Callaway GBB II 3+ wood

Wow!! I just picked up this GBB II Strong 3 wood with the Firm Shaft off of Ebay. I was surprised by how hot the face is on this club. I previously had the ERC Strong 3, so I was afraid that this Callaway simply repainted the head and called it the GBB II. But from this first round with this club, I think not. This club was at least 15-20 yards longer than my Cobra SS strong 3 and my TM 200 Strong 3. Now granted these are steel vs. the GBB Titanium. I can recommend this club if you can swing a deal on it. Paying full retail is a shame with Ebay around and the fact that these have been out for a couple of years now. Very Nice Strong 3 wood.

Model Reviewed: GBB II 7 Wood Firm

The most forgiving fairway wood I have ever played. I always hit Callaway Steelheads and have tried a Hawkeye VFT, but the GBB II is the most forgiving. The ball flight is a nice draw. I don't get any further distance than my Steelhead III 7 wood, but it is much more forgiving. Excellent fairway wood.

Callaway Service is always top notch.

Well I was shooting in the 90's until I put this club in my bag. I too had read all the positive reviews here. A friend had one on demo for a round and we all had a tee shot with it. The ball flew off the face compared to my usual Taylor Made 200, going about 30 yards further (but couldn't find the ball). I thought whooah! got to get one of these. I hit my Taylor Made reasonably straight, fade and slice a bit with the odd push left. 260 yards with a good shoot. All the reviews below seem to suggest you can't slice the Big Bertha. Well I can assure you you can! Have had this club in my bag for 4 rounds, can't hit a ball straight! All slice big time. On a particularly tight course (Ashdown Forest West) lost about 12 balls in to the woods of the tee. My scores went from low 90's to 110's. Took the Taylor Made out at weekend and was back to low 90's again. Not a club for me alas.

Model Reviewed: Calloway Great Big Bertha II

I've been hitting the Calloway Steel Head woods for several years and to be honest, I have always been very happy with the clubs. My first reaction when I saw the new Great Big Bertha II woods was, wow these are really good looking clubs. After reading some of the reviews on the new BB II's, I decided to go out and test them. At first, I had mixed feelings about the club. I eventually bought the three wood and was absolutely blown away. This club is very long and straight. I recently hit it out of the rough about 265 yards right to the middle of a green. No matter how much I loved my Steel Heads, I had never done this before. Off the tee, I consistently out drive my friends who are hitting driver's. I'm so happy with the three that I've gone out and picked up the five wood as well. This is definately a club everyone should atleast test. You will not be disappointed.

Model Reviewed: GBB II 4 Wood Strong Flex

Nice size, large enough to inspire confidence off the deck and from the tee but small enough to play out of the semi-rough. Not the most efficient out of shaggy stuff, but that's why I carry a Louisville Persimmon Niblick 7 wood for those types of shots. Solid feel and ball flight, off the tee I can get about 270 yards with roll with good contact. Pricey, there are fairway woods out there that are just as good for less money like the Steelhead III. But if these catch your eye like they did mine and you can find a decent price for them they are still a very solid investment. Used to play the firm shaft in the Cally's, but like the feel of the strong shaft just a touch better. Not quite as whippy, but not so stiff that I lose the feel of the clubhead. Demo one if you get the chance!

Model Reviewed: Great Big Bertha II 3 Wood Reg

Took this out to the range with a few other models and was without a doubt the longest 3 wood I have ever hit. It looks great, good feedback and nice shaft (major improvement for Callaway). I usually hit the ball with a slight fade but with this club I was actually hitting a controlled draw. The only minus for this club is that the face marks very easily being a titanium "hot-face" club. I have played with a titanium faced driver for some time but did not get the same marking, probably because the driver is always used off a tee. However the markings are more evident with a 3 wood particularly when used a lot from the fairway and light rough. Otherwise a great club.

I can really trust this club to keep the ball in play. It is a breeze to hit off of the tee, and out of the rough. I just purchased the GBBII 7 wood and am looking forward to hitting it. Great job Callaway

Customer Service

I have always had excellent service and quick action from Callaway's service Dept.

Model Reviewed: Callaway Great Big Bertha II 3 & 5 Wood

To date this has to be my favorite woods to hit of the Callaway lineup. Both 3-wood and 5-wood provided better shot trajectory and distance over my Hawkeye VFT woods. Off-center shots also seemed to hold up better than other woods I've used. Overall, these woods are solid and consistent compared to the various woods I've used in the 1 1/2 years I've played.

Unbelievable distance with this 5-wood. I am hitting off the turf over 220 yards on a very consistent basis, and now am using it off the tee for short par 4s (actually drove the green two weeks ago on a 259 yard par 4). I am so pleased that I am ordering the 10* driver, and was originally thinking about the 3-wood but don't see a need for it with the performance I'm getting from this 5-wood. I was initially put off by the high price of these woods, but due to the fact that they are titanium, have great distance and versatility on the turf and off the tee, I see this as a great value as I plan to carry just the driver and 5-wood going forward.

Customer Service

Not used in this instance but in the past I have found Callaway customer service to be excellent.

Has to be the best fairway wood I've ever played. I've used the Ping Tisi Tec and before that the Ping Tisi for the past few years. A friend of mine bought the Great Big Bertha II Driver and 3 Wood and let me try them out. Just amazing, really. Both of them swing easier than the Pings and also travel farther. I use my same swing with them both and the new Berthas jus go farther and straighter. I went out and bought myself the driver and 3 wood the next week. I recommend you try it out if you can, and would be suprised if you don't love em. Definitely worth at least a trip to test them out. You'll likely leave knowing you have to have one or both.
