This is probably the worst club Callaway has ever made. I was looking for a good 3wood and I heard that callaway had a good set. (i usually play Nike or Cleveland) I decided to diverge a little and i bought these clubs. They are terrible. They feel like a rock on the club face and they are way too heavy. If you're looking for a fairway wood go buy the T-40 (tour) or the Launchers. Don't waste your time here.

This is an ok fairway wood. It isn't bad. I can hit it 180 yards relatively straight, at best. With other fairway woods from Taylor-made, Nike, or Cleveland I can easily hit it 240 yards straight down the middle. I would definitely look to other fairway woods for better distance, control, and accuracy. I shouldn't have bought it before looking at other much better models and manufacturers.

If you want a fairway wood that will make you yell "fore" to the group on the green on the par 5's, then this is it. A nice smooth swing, a crisp click, and you have a rocket launched. I hit 245 from the light rough the other day. I can't wait to play the par 5's now....anything under 550 yards is suddenly reachable. Love this club!!!

Awesome stick on the tee or fairway. Off the tee easy 250 and 230-240 of the fairway. 4+ gives the 3 wood loft with a shorter shaft for control. I have not had to deal with the draw bias, but it is not supposed occur with the + models. Mis hits still fly pretty straight. One heck of a fairway wood and the price is right now that they can be found at reduced prices. Good for all handicap levels and pros still carry this club. It is a great club for tight courses.

These are very forgiving fairway woods and even on mis hits the ball carries very well. The smaller head and low center of gravity help get the ball in the air and keep it there. I would recommend these woods to beginners or scratch golfers. These are great!

Model Reviewed: callaway Steelhead 5-wood

These woods are very long & extremely forgiving. Even with a miss hit the ball will carry at least 200 yards. It does not require a great deal of feel, a plus for beginning to novice golfers, since a well struck shot gives that solid ala Callaway sound. If you’re in the market for fairway woods this is all you need. My 5-wood average distance on my 5-wood is from 220-250! Look no further these are the woods!

Model Reviewed: Callaway Steelhead III 4+ uniflex steel

Picked up the Steelhead III 4+ w/uniflex steel shaft early this fall. I was looking for one club between my 7 wood and driver. I hit every 3 wood on the market at multiple demo days. I realized that most 3 woods are a little hard to control with any kind of consistency unless I choked up a little. The 4+, with the slightly shorter shaft and 15 degrees of loft was the ticket. The head is slightly smaller than that of the 3 wood and 4 wood which shouldn't bother most low and mid handicappers. This thing is a missle launcher off the tee (tee it low) or off the deck. Draw bias seems less in the plus series as well. Great stick! I love the weight, the feel, the look, and most importantly the performance.

Model Reviewed: Steelhead III 3 Wood

I did a great deal of searching for a 3 wood that has the ease of solid contact of my driver, but the accuracy of my mid irons. This club is as close as any I've tried. I went to Nevada Bobs, and I hit about 5 or 6 3 woods, including ping si3, Nike, and Steelhead III. Of all of the clubs I hit, this one was, by far, the longest. I hit this club about 255 yards (swing speed 118 mph). The trajectory is mid-high, and boring (not rising). The size of the club head is perfect for a 3 wood. It's not too big that you can't hit if effectively off the turf, but it's large enought so that when you tee it up, you just know you're going to make solid contact. The stiff steel shaft that came with it is absolutely perfect for my game. It's a bit heavy, but that acts as a limiting device on how hard you swing. It will help you develop perfect timing and tempo for this club. My only complaint is that it seems to have a definate draw bias. That, in itself, isn't a problem, but if you put a bad swing on it, you'll pull it dead left (at least, that's what I do). I suspect that this issue will be resolved as I get more comfortable with it, so it's not fair to criticize it for what may be an issue with my swing. In general, this club is easily the farthest 3 wood I've ever hit. It is unbelievably easy to hit, both off the turf and teed up.
