Cleveland Launcher Steel Fairway Woods

Cleveland Launcher Steel Fairway Woods

DESCRIPTION

Cleveland Launcher Steel Fairway Woods Graphite Shafts. The maraging steel faces of the Cleveland Launcher Fairway Woods have a higher strength-to-weight ratio than clubs that feature standard 17-4 stainless steel. This high-strength characteristic creates a face that is thin and lightweight, making it "hotter" to provide maximum distance.

I had a hard time getting the Cleveland 15 degree titanium club very far into the air of the deck, so picked up Cleveland's latest version of the 17 degree fairway wood. I am really happy with this club, no problem getting the ball into the air with this club, an easy club to hit and it works pretty nicely off the tee as long as the ball is not teed up very high of course. The 17 degree has worked so well that I will try hitting a 15 degree just to see how it does.

Model Reviewed: 2006 launcher steel 15* stiff shaft

Played a Callaway Steelhead 15* since they first came out close to a decade ago. Loved the club but after almost 10 years it was time to update the 3 wood. Tried a few others first, callaway X, big bertha, cobra speed, r7 ti(no way a fairway wood is worth that kind of money). Then I hit this club and fell in love. No need to go for the titanium here either. This club is long!!!! I also find it easy to get airborn off the turf as well. I have the stock shaft in stiff flex (swing about 105-108 mph with it)and it seems to be pretty good for me. I'm not good enough to tell if an aftermarket shaft would improve the performance of this club for someone with my skill level, stock is fine. My only gripe, and its not really a gripe, I find the club to be a little more finicky on mis-hits than what other reviewers have stated. Seems when i make a bad slice or hook swing, the ball flight is more exagerrated than with my old callaway. Distance is still respectable on mis-hits though. Like I said though, not really a gripe as a "bad slice or hook" for me is still playable. Did I mention this thing is crazy long off the tee if you put a good swing on it!!! Shallow face may be a little intimidating for some.

I just bought the 13 degree version. Have never had much luck with previous strong 3's but am able to hit this club long, high and straight. Got the UST V2 stiff shaft. Strongly recommend both head and shaft.

Switched from the Cobra SZ to Callaway BB to this. By far is this the easiest one to use on the fairway, in the rough and off the tee. The extra 2 degrees compared to a 3 wood really helps me out when hitting the club off the deck. The great thing about this club is the forgiveness. I hit all over the clubface and the ball will still shoot relatively straight. If I am fortunate to hit the sweetspot the ball has a mid-high trajectory and it soars. Compared to other fairway woods that I have tried this one keeps the ball going down it intended target lane. I am very happy with this club and got it on ebay for $132 (retail $199). For the money this is a recreational golfer's dream.

I originally tried the 17 degree version of this club. The local Pro recommended a higher lofted club as I can hit the 3 wood a little lean at times. There's no danger of this with this club. It flies high and strong from the face and this is from a golfer who hits with a slight fade. My original set of 12 year old Howsons are finding a new home as the Launcher has the feel, the distance and the good looks I have craved for a while now. The feel definately isn't soft or sloppy, it feels wonderfully weighted on the sole too, giving you the confidence you're going to lift the ball away clean. When you do, you are rewarded with a nice clean 'tink' sound. This club has added quite a few yards to my fairway shots and I am going to be nailing Par 5 greens in 2 soon!

Customer Service

Bought from my local professional, Paul O'Reilly Golf. Based at my home club. His customer service and expertise is awesome and nothing is a problem for Paul. He and his colleague, Andy, give all the time you need.

Wow, what a great club. Cleveland is right on the mark with this one (again). Ball jumps off the face and flies long, true, and holds greens nicely. Feel is excelent, and a nice crisp "crack" is heard on impact. Off-center hits fly long and straight as well. Fuji shaft feels nice as well. Plus the whole club looks really sexy. Club is well worth the $200 I spent on it.
