This club is awesome. Can't hit my 3-6 irons to save my life. These are the only clubs in my bag that I can consistently hit well. It is almost hard to mess up with these clubs, not matter what the lie is. They hit way better than my heavenwood 2. Would recommend 100 times over.

Wow. I bought a Baffler 23 degree from a pro shop after placing 2nd in a scramble tourney. Trust me, you want this club. If you can't hit at least 3/5 fairways at 200-220 yards each, you might want to go bowling. I have many swing flaws but after only 2 weeks with this club I can't pull it out confidently and know i'll at least give myself a shot on every hole. Penetrating flight, great distance, good look--- a great club. I used to play with Ping G5 hyprids but they are a little lighter feeling that the Baffler. For me (agressive swinger) this proved to be a very good change.

Hybrids? who, me? Never!!! :) Used to be my usual answer whenever the talk turned to hybrids. I play blades, love classic looks and I've held on to my 2-iron for a long time - not any more. At the outset of my trial of the clubs mentioned below, I was sure that I was going for a stiff shaft and a strong loft (17 degrees or so), since i play DG 300s in my irons and a 9,5 degree stiff driver and love it. Well, that idea had to be dumped also when I found out, that by pretty far the Baffler 23 degree/R flex (!!) was the straithest and longest of the bunch - and ridiculously easy to hit to boot (still retaining a fair degree of workability!). I clocked 5 shots in a row going 220 yards within a 5 yard diameter, I choked down an inch and did the same but at arounnd 208 yards - absolutely brilliant.

The ball flight is about mid and never balooning, and it pretty much lands on the green like a 7-iron - what more can you ask?

Perfect perfomance for me, so watch out short par 4's from the tee, and long par fives from the deck or rough! :) The greens better watch out as well, 'cause now I have room for 4 wedges ;)

On a final note I would like to commend the looks of the baffler - It's just classic and beautiful, the offset appears only ever so slight, and finally it catches my eye as true, solid hybrid (half iron/half fairway wood) and not a fairway wood in disguise like the TM Burner.

Get one - you will not regret it

Finally found a hybid that works gread for me. The Cobra Baffler DWS allowed me to simplify my long game and add scoring punch to my short game with another wedge.

Great head and shaft combo (Aldila) makes this the best hybrid on the market. I have tried most of the major manufacturers. For me it got down to the Cleveland and the Cobra, but I prefer the more compact head of the Cobra and the more traditional look without the scooped back.

The DWS is and excellent resuce club. The deep face it a big advantage, because the ball will not pop up out of deep rough, or if I hit it a little heavy off the tee the shot is still solid and long. The DWS is long and forgiving, but, still provides a degree of workability. This club replaced my 5w (DWS is straighter and more controllable) and my 3i (DWS is longer and more forgiving). It also enabled my to add another wedge. I love it. You will too.

Model Reviewed: cobra baffler hybrid 4/R

I have always used this site when I want to read reviews on a certain club I want to buy,so I guess I'd return the favor. The cobra baffler hybrid 4/r stiff aldila was sold to me for $50 by a friend. It is a solid club,my miss hits tend to hook, but not a duck hook but a long hook-it seems close at address,it is hard to hit a fade with the 4/R-but it always goes straight or with a slight draw. But this club I can hit 230 yards and is the most used club other than my putter.I choke down on it for 190yds or less the ball will be surely kept in play.I just won for $35 a 2/R at golfclubexchange- I plan to replace my 3wood with it.Now all my buddies have a hybrid- replace your long irons and fairway woods with a hybrid and keep the ball in play- you will shoot a few strokes lower.I heard Nick Faldo comment after a Phil Mickelson hybrid shot that he would have played better golf if he had a hybrid during his time.

This is a confidence inspiring club.
I bought a 20* DWS last fall and have been well pleased.
In December I happened across a used 23* (regular Baffler-not DWS)for $49 so I gave it a try. I like it too.
I prefer to hit these like I would hit an iron- not a fairway wood.
If you're sick of your 3 or 4 iron, give one of these a try. I'm glad I did.

Get one! Replaced my 3-iron with a 20 degree stiff steel shaft. The ball flight is high and long. The club is easy to hit out of the rough,on slopes and even out of fairway bunkers. I even took my long trusted heavenwood out of the bag. Looking forward to replacing my 4-iron now.

Though I was generally OK with my 3 iron (Ping i3 O size). I wanted some more consistency and tried a number of hybrids including Taylormade, Hogan, Titleist and Ping.

The Cobra for me was the best of the bunch. The weight of the club felt really good during my swing and the ball launches really well with what seems like a higher than average trajectory. This club is longer than my 3 iron. I can carry 220yrds with this club and though I can - on occasion - do this with my 3 iron it is no where near as consistent. This club is also workable. This is one of the few clubs I have hit where the technology seems to work as advertised.

This club challenges my 3 wood also with its distance and I wonder if I should replace my 3 wood with a 2/R or even 1/R version.

One issue I have with this club is that I seem to struggle with it on tight lies. I seem to make fewer good shots with this club when the lie is tight. If you are considering this club suggest that you try a variety of lies before you commit.

All in all this is a very impressive club.

I have the newer DWS version. I compared this to the earlier version on the range and there is really no real difference that I could see. You can probably save a few dollars by going for the earlier - non DWS - version and pretty much get the same performance

Cobra Baffler 4R (23*) with Aldila NV HY reg. flex shaft

I hesitated writing this review as I struggled with this club for a number of rounds after receiving it. What I was trying to do was hit it like an iron. Wrong move.

Today, on a 170 yd. par 3, I teed it low and hit it with a smooth, sweeping fairway wood swing. It was a high trajectory shot that flew with no hook or slice ... just straight. The ball landed on the right front of the green and rolled about 10 feet before stopping. (I missed the 15 ft. birdie putt.)

Using the same technique, I hit just barely wide right on another par 3 and had a good shot from the fairway, although I hit it fat and left it short.

Now, with limited experience with this club, I'm giving it a 4 rating. Later, this hopefully will shift to a 5.

Also test hit a Cleveland Halo 3 (22*). I hit this almost as well. I would have been just as happy buying the Halo, perhaps happier.

I have some difficulty hitting my long irons, so a friend of mine convinced to purchase this 20 degree hybrid club. Wow! I pulled my 3 iron, 7 wood and 4 wood out of the bag. Depending on my swing speed, I can consistently hit the Baffler 185 to 205 yards. It is a great club and I can hit with tremendous consistency.
