Model Reviewed: Cobra SZ 3-Wood

I hit the SZ driver, and I've been looking for a fairway wood to hit so that I challenge a par-5 now and then. My next-longest club has been a Cobra Baffler Pro #3 hybrid, and that wasn't reaching the greens. (I can't hit a #2 confidently; otherwise, I'd be playing it!) Logic told me to try the fairway wood that matches the driver, so I went to Roger Dunn and found a couple of woods, a 3-wood and a 5-wood. Because they felt the same off the mats, I picked the 3-wood. On the range, it felt the same and averaged over 200 yards with a 180-190 carry. I'm very happy with this club, but I have yet to use it as the second shot on a par-5. (I've used it off the tee a few times already.)

Customer Service

Roger Dunn in California has a 30-day return policy on used clubs. I used it before, but not this time.

Orlimar fairway woods, good for their time; Adams fairway woods with the hybrid shaft and deep face, very similar to this club; Cleveland Launcher, but I didn't like the set-up and the feel.

Model Reviewed: cobra sz 3 wood

I find this 3 wood to be very straight and long. It feels much lighter than my previous 3 wood (orlimar tri-metal). I found the Orlimar to be straight off the fairway, however this club has a higher trajectory and, therefore, more distance. The topline view or the club makes aignment easy. It has a very solid feel on contact. The only change I would suggest is a better grip (Winn).

Orlimar 13 degree 3 wood.
