I tried this club at a demo day and was suprised at the distance and ball flight. It seemed as long as my Titleist 980 and Callaway VFT 3 woods. Since buying one I've only hit balls at the range and am happy with the results. Club has the Exsar 60 stiff shaft.

Model Reviewed: MP-001 Fairway wood

After an extensive search for the fairway wood to put in my bag, I opted for the Mizuno MP-001. The first time I got to hit it at the driving range I couldn´t believe how long and straight I was hitting it. I was always a believer that all 3 woods were devil possesed, but this one sure isn´t. You can tell there is something different about this club the moment you hold it. It is a little heavier than any fairway wood I have tried, and they have been quite a few. At address the club looks really neat, and when properly hit it makes a nice sound. After my first round with this club I knew it was a keeper. I would definitely recommend this club to anyone looking for a solid, dependable fairway wood of the tee box or from the rough. The weight might be problematic for slow swing speeds and golfers with back trouble, but if you have a chance give it a try and you just might end up buying it.

A very solid club. Clean setup and a makes a great sound when struck. Beware, this club does not play right to left ball flight very well. This club plays straight to slight fade which for me is what I like. I don't want to miss left. Definitely think about reshafting if you are more advanced player. The steel is nice but the graphite sucks.

Great solid feel club, very balanced set-up - many of the other fairway woods I have tried seem too light. I have only used this club for one round but i managed 250 yards when I hit it clean off of the tee on a tight par 4, with a slight fade. Hit it out of the rough from about 230 to the green on a par five and put it over the green. Beautiful looking club. Paid less then $100 on Ebay.

Worth every cent of its $179. price at Golf Galaxy. What a great feeling club!Sweet, long and beautiful. The steel and graphite composite head makes the sound of persimmon. I bought the 4 wood (stiff steel shaft)and it outdistances my old 3 wood with graphite by 10 yards. With such a small clubhead there's not a lot of face area to forgive substantial mis-hits, but anything remotely near the center is better than anything I've tried. This club rocks!
