Never could figure this club out. couldn't get it up well from the fairway, couldn't hit it straight off the tee. Big slice every time- I hit my driver WAY, WAY more accurately. Ball would go far, though- but into the rough. Can be had cheaply now, though- work well for many of my golf buddies.

I picked up this club pretty cheap by a friend who works for Orlimar. At first I couldn't hit it very well. Too thin, too fat, never just right. Then after playing with my stance at the driving range I dialed it in, and now I hit almost as far as my driver. On those long par 5's, there's nothing like it. The way the ball shoots off the club face, it must be the material, but it's great.

I've tried with very little success using the club at the tee box though. I know it's a shallow face, but for some reason I can't hit very well off the tee, even if I tee it way low, like the sticker tells you to.
If you're having problems with your current 3 wood or long irons, give this club a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Model Reviewed: Orlimar Trimetal Plus Driver

First off, let me say that I am not a great golfer. In fact, I have recently taken up the game. The big problem is that before I buy anything, I analyze and research things to death. I must have hit a thousand balls with at least 15 different drivers.

Why this one? Well, out of all of the drivers that I tried, two of them launched the ball off of the head like a rocket - the Orlimar and the Taylor Made 320. Most of the others were good - but I didn't get that solid feel and the "crack" when the ball came off of the face. The feel was muted and some of them felt really heavy. The Orlimar and Taylor Made 320 were so easy to swing it was scary.

With the Orlimar, the maraging face combined with an extremely light package make this club a joy to swing. I was having a problem hitting it 200 yards before, but now I hit 250 no problem. And the face is very forgiving. I have got to have the worst slice ever, but the Orlimar helps out a lot.

The Taylor Made 320 was $400, and this was a bargain at $100. But buyer beware: this is the PLUS model, not the regular. The face is bigger and deeper, and this helps alot. You need much more skill than I have to use the non-plus version. However, if you can find a Trimetal Plus for $100 or less, I recommend that YOU BUY THIS CLUB NOW!

Well I can honestly say that this is a beautiful club. I am not a scratch golfer but after hitting this club for 3 months now, I find it hard to miss a fairway. It hits a natural draw or dead straight if I just swing easily through it. And the beauty is that on any tight holes it is so easy to just alter the swing a little and hit a controlled fade that moves away from the trouble and lands nicely in the middle of the fairway...every time. And this club feels wonderful, and hits a long, powerful ball. I have an aldila stiff shaft and it produces a boring flight that builds so much confidence. So tempting to hit off the tee every hole because I know I'll land in the middle and well down there...but it's still a great feeling to be pulling out the driver with visions of boofing it.
This club inspires great confidence from off the fairway also, as it sits so well behind the ball. And what's more...you don't have to hit it hard to get distance, which has got to be good for your swing. Just a magic club.

I've been hitting the 10.5 (steel shaft, regular flex) for more than a year and it's been the longest, most consistent driver I've used. Then, when the price dropped on the steel shaft fairway woods, I bought the 16 degree. Like the driver, it's long and consistent -- the most reliable club in my bag. Then, I added the 14 degree and 20 degree (good bye, 3-iron). The 14 is great on long par 5s and off the tee on short par 4s. The 20 degree is effective on 180-yard shots, and if you really step on it, you can get 5-wood distance. Both the 16 degree and 20 degree perform well from the rough and all are flat-out excellent from tight fairway lies. Great trajectory and distance. You've got to spend some time learning their characteristics, but these clubs can be real confidence builders. Great feel and sound at impact.

I was having problems with my Titleist 975F 14.5 Graffalloy. It was great when my swing was on but when it was off, the club was bad. Not forgiving at all. I tried this and love it. It is much easier to hit and goes further and straighter. Even mishits go well. The ball just keeps going off this club. Great sound and feel. The new EI-70+ shaft is fantastic. When hit square this club is unreal. Great all around club. Very happy and the price is great now on these. I choose this over the Hawkeye because this shaft is so much better then the junk shafts in Callaway's. Best 3 wood for the $ period.

These are sweet feeling clubs. I found them to be longer and easier to hit than any other fairway woods I tried. And I tried them all!
