This clue is wonderful. I used to carry an Adams Tight Lies 3W, but found it very inconsistent when it came to both distance and accuracy. I picked up this club used for $20 and have fallen in love with it. Not only can I consistently hit it 240 from the fairway, but I lose little distance from the rough. It is very easy to hit control when it comes to accuracy and very easy to shape shots with.

I am an 8 handicap with a natural draw, and hit the ball high, so I was looking for a club with a lower ball flight without a hook face. I bought a Wilson Deep Red Strong 3-wood 13 degree with the stock X shaft on ebay last year. The clubhead's burgundy red color is really attractive, and the club looks great at setup, which always helps with confidence. I am in between an S and an X shaft at 105 mph average clubhead speed; this makes it hard for me to find equipment. The stock Grafalloy low torque X shaft is great for me. The club feels really good at impact, and I can work it both ways when I have my "A" game, but it does seem to have a slight draw bias. On normal swings this club goes 250 with mis-hits usually 240+, which makes it the perfect choice off the blue tees on the tight par 4's on my home course. I don't understand why these clubs aren't better known. My home course has demo days every year, and I've tried all of the better known brands. The only brand of fairway wood that I like as well as this club is Sonartec (I have a Sonartec 5 wood, which I love). These clubs are now discontinued in favor of Deep Red II, but you can probably still pick one up for about $50 on EBAY. At those prices, there's nothing to lose!

Found this club in a used club bin for $68. Thought that even if it was no good, I could trade it. I was looking for something to replace my 3 iron since I don't it very well. I needed an 195-205 yard club. Is this club the ticket! A nice easy swing produces shots off the deck that take off fast and low, rising nicely to a mid-high trajectory falling almost straight down at the 200 yard mark. Very consistent and easy to hit.

I hadn't ever tried wilson products before but it was setting in the corner of the my local pro shop with a $30 tag on it (without a scratch on it). Hit fifty balls and traded in my beat up old Tight Lies 3 wood for it straight up. Lower, more boring ball flight than the tight lies with more roll. About ten yards longer. Very forgiving, and it is still easy to hit a control fade or straight. Awesome off the tee and feels great. Due to the ball flight I can't hold the greens like the Tight lies but that isnt a big deal. It makes up for it with its consistancy and workability. Great confidence booster on tight par fours. Feels great, you don't feel a thing if you're close to the sweet spot. Looks great at address and easy to line up. A great club for someone who doesn't hit the big stick very, like myself. Smaller head than most which was to my liking as well.

Model Reviewed: Deep Red II - 3 wood and 5 wood

I bought these clubs in the spring of 2003, when they had only been on the market for about 5 days. I needed them because all of my clubs were high quality clubs with the exception of my 3 and 5 wood, which were still from my factory set. I fell in love with these woods after just a few rounds. If you make a semi-good swing, the feel of striking the ball is great! They have a low trajectory (I have 15 and 18 degree stiff graphite shaft) that rolls a long way off the tee, but are controlable enough to stop them on the green when you need them to. If you have a hard time getting the ball of the ground, these are not the clubs for you. If you can get the ball in the air, but need straight shots, these clubs are perfect. I highly recomend them for anyone who can hit a ball in the air. Also standing behind one of them gives you all the confidence in the world that you'll hit it good.

I have trouble hitting drivers off the Tee.I was using a 15 degree Taylor Made Supersteel that I liked quite well.Distance was a little lacking so I wanted to try a strong 3.I bought a Deep Red strong 3 with 13 degree head.WOW.Weight feels and is placed back in head.My shaft is regular flex. The shaft seems to be light,The club has a really nice feel when swung. This club just felt right from the first swing.I went to the driving range and hit a couple of buckets. At first I had a left flight path. After a few balls well then they were straight-or about as straight as I can get them as normal. Its early yet but it appears I picked up about 20 yards over the TM supersteel which is 15 degree vs this Wilson at 13 degree. Overall:Good appearance, nice head cover, very very forgiving, the TM was forgiving but can not compare to the Wilson.Wilson has produced a great quality product here that is world class. Some of my shots were nowhere near the sweetspot and they still go straight. There is sone tendency for high ball flight I must admit but this help distance except on windy days.

i recently purchased a wilson deep red 2 regular graphite shaft 3 wood.this club feels so comfortable at addressing the ball, that you are confident you will hit a good shot.it looks good the softie grip adds that extra bit of class,to this club that not only goes long and straight, but i have got the courage to shape the ball as well.this is a must addition to anyones bag and is areliable substitute to a driver.my scores are in the high 70,s with the eagerly anticipated addition of the 5 wood equivalent and the deep red driver im expecting to threaten level par come next summer

This is an absolutely amazing club for anyone who hates to hit fairway woods because of the difficulty to hit shaped shots. I'm no expert on technology, but something about the weighting on this club lets you line up for a draw or fade and feel confident the ball will come back to target. In addition, if your confidence is high enough, anyone can hit this club easily over 230 yards. Many will doubt this because of the relatively small clubhead, but the lightweight head/fat shaft combination allows for a faster swingspeed without sacrificing control and workability. Overall, Wilson has truly exceeded standards on the Deep Red product line. The price may be a bit steep, but incredible deals can be found with a little effort.

Model Reviewed: Wilson Deep Red Driver 10.5* Stiff fat shaft

I normally don't have problems with distance off the tee, but my short irons I just can't get close. I got this club for my birthday, after hitting 10 different drivers. It just felt better when I hit it right than any other club I hit. SO, when I took it to the course for the first time, I was not expecting much more than a good feel if I hit it right. What I got was about 290 dead straight off the #1 tee, with a nice easy swing. I usually have a pretty bad fade, ok, I will admit it, it is an outright slice, especially when I swing harder. This club allows me to swing easy without sacrificing distance, so I can hit it straighter. I am also hitting wedge into a lot of greens now, instead of 8 iron. It is hard to hit a bad shot with this club, unless you are being an idiot, adn trying to show off like I do on occasion, but then that is not really the club's fault... or is it? can I blame the club anyway? I can't wait to get the fairway woods.
