Adams Golf GT Irons

Adams Golf GT Irons

DESCRIPTION

From Adams Golf: "The Tight Lies GT Irons offer a revolutionary design bringing together the best of both worlds - the first ever irons that offer the combination of steel and graphite in one shaft. Adams' patented multi-material GT Shaft uses a high-strength, graphite tip that is 50% stronger than steel. This means optimal stability at impact for consistently straighter shots." ...More graphite in the long irons promotes a higher ball flight and greater forgiveness, less in the short irons promotes a lower more controlled trajectory.

I bought these irons because I previously owned a set of the Adams Idea irons and loved the Steel Shafts with Graphite Tips. I liked the set up of these irons the first time I stood over them. I found them to be very forgiving and so easy to hit. I have been through so many sets of irons there's not room enough to list them all. These clubs inspire confidence. These babies rank right up there with all of the rest of the $600+ game improvement irons. In fact, everything I've hit by Adams ranks up there with the best.

I have been golfing for about 7 months now and decided to start trading in my wal-mart clubs for something decent. After lots of research I decided on the GT Ultimate. I absolutely love them. They are easy to hit and they go far. I am hitting my PW 125 yards consistently, where my old wedge would go about 100 yards. I nearly holed a 152 yard par 3 with my 8 iron and no wind. They set up well and are pretty stylish. I couldn't afford anything more expensive but comparing them at the shop I actually liked the Adams better than those expensive clubs. I got mine used for $85 shipped but they didn't even have any scrapes on them (basically new). You can get these for around $100 -$125 brand new on ebay very regularly. They are definitely the best value I have come across. I went ahead and bought the GT Driver and Fairway woods (363, Strong 3, 4, and 7)and they are awesome as well. As a tribute to the Adams GT line, before I bought them, I was shooting about a 104, with a best of 99. Since I have played 3 times on new courses and have shot a 97, 96, 94.

If you have sons that play golf you may sympathize with my past experiences with missing golf clubs.I came home to find my Wilson Deep Reds in the back of #1 sons pickup during a thunderstorm.Thats it!! It is time to find them a set of clubs! During a recent bussiness trip with time on my hands,I tried every known club at a local sporting good store.Spent about two hours hitting them, then again time on my hands.I like the Adams for feel and price but was told to search the internet and try Rockbottom Golf for prices. Well for $600.00 and change I got the GT Irons,Lobe/Sand Wedges,3Wood,5 Wood and Bag.I tried the 363 Driver and have yet to choose between it or rounding off the set with a 7 Wood. You quess by now that the Adams are mine!I need to find a gun vault to lock them up in .Thank you Mr Adams.

Model Reviewed: GT Performance, graphite tip shaft S-flex

I am club junkie without a doubt and I normally don't write reviews, but I feel compelled to write this one. I bought the Adams GT Performance irons with the graphite tip shafts two days ago. I have hit them on the range twice and played once with them. In two trips to the range I have been very impressed with there feel, forgiveness, and distance. The kicker is that today I played my first round with them and I hit 15 of 18 greens (2 of the missed greens were on the fringe and the other was a result of a bad drive). I made 4 birdies, 3 of which were from less than 5 feet and the other was a 10 footer. I had numerous other good looks at birdie, but alas I am not a great putter. It all added up to a 71 which is my best score ever at my home course and it should have been better because all of my 4 bogeys came from 3 putts. Now was I just having a good day? Yes. I had to be swinging pretty well, but I also know that I currently own Ping I3's and Callaway x-12's and I haven't been hitting them like I hit these. No one club suits everyone but if you are looking for a new set of irons give these a try and get the graphite tip shafts, they really do make a difference. The best part is that you can get a brand new set off ebay for well under $300.00. I got mine for $299.00 at Pro Golf Discount and got a new Adams original Tight Lies 16 degree fairway wood. This is not a push for Adams products as I have never been fond of their woods, but I really think these are great irons. Try some!

These are by far the best irons I have ever hit. I've been playing them for the better part of two years now and as a habitual club ho its killing me that I can't find a reason to move on. In the past I've struggled with clubs that look chunky at set up and/or have a lot of offset. These clubs look great, inspire confidence and deliver with fine results. I'm using a regulat flex steel/graphite bimatrix shaft and find it works well for me. The clubs minimize hooks and slices, play a bit longer than other sets, and just want to hit the ball straight.

Best irons I've ever tried. Definately longer than any other irons - not surprising due to the stronger lofts present throughout the set. The graphite-tip steel shafts are very easy to hit, very forgiving on mis-hits and accurate in terms of direction. The longer distances take a little getting used to, and I've had to order a gap wedge for the under-100 yard shots, but I'll be playing these sticks for quite a while. Incredible values available on Ebay for these clubs!

Customer Service

Lost my 8-iron, and they were VERY helpful in tracking down a replacement for a set that is no longer in production.

Model Reviewed: Adams "Perfromance" Irons

Simply stated, these are the best irons I have used to date, and believe me, I have used many. Including irons that are much more expensive and considered "players" irons. These Adams Tight Lies "Performance" irons won't win any 'most beautiful' awards but they are certainly appropriately named! Accurate, forgiving, and excellent feel set the perameters of an honest decription of the "performance" characteristics of these wonderful irons. I have the stiff flex GT shafts (steel w/graphite tips). They are as close to a forged feel without being forged clubs as I have ever experienced. The overall specs of these irons just really work for me. Adams claims that they are designed for mid to high handicappers. However, I just about a single digit handicap and these babies flat out perform. My approach shots have never been better and my iron play confidence is at an all time high. Even the 3 iron is a breeze to hit. They are a midsize (not OS) club head with progressive offset, but not too much offset. I have been looking a long time for a set of irons that are "just right for me". You know about that seemingly endless search I am referring to, correct? As a matter of fact, I am an active member of the CHOA society (Club 'Hoes' of America). Well, not anymore. I'm confident I will be using these irons a long time.........at least until the end of the month! These irons are highly rated by other club reviewers and for good reason. Give 'em a try!

Love these irons. Wasn't sold on the hybrid shaft, I prefer all steel rifle shafts, but these shafts work great. I though the black tips might throw me off ad address, but I didn't even notice after about the 3 swing. Nice blade style will easily allow me to play these down to a low handicap. Excellent irons, fantastic feel, beautiful looks, nice size, negligle progressive offset is a feature I really wanted (to much offset in most clubs these days), great ball flight, progressive weighting a slight ofset makes the long irons very easy to hit, especially the 3 iron. Easy to line up. Like most of the higher end irons these days, these are excellent, quality, clubs. I was going to buy the Callway X-16 Pro series or the Clevelenad TA7 Tour models in steel. I liked the Callways but they are a bit chunky for my tastes. I liked the Cleveland TA7 very much as well, but liked the looked the looks and feel of the Adams better. At $480 cheaper than either the Callway's or Clevelands, this was a no brainer. Adams may not have the name recognition in irons, but Barney Adams is making some of the best irons in the business. Have to believe these irons will by in my bag for a long time....will probably buy a spare set at this price in case these sticks get stolen like my last 3 sets (I'm getting lo-jack for my golf bag!) Very good irons and I can easily say the best bargain in golf right now.

I am a beginner golfer and shoot around 110-120. I used a set of clubs from the late 1980's. I tried Adams at the store hitting range and they felt really good from the beginning. I found these clubs to hit straighter and are more forgiving than other clubs I was trying. Clubs I tried were Tommy Armour 845, Ram's and Cleveland T5A. The Adams was much easier to hit with. The graphite tip steel shaft are great, give more feel than all graphite shafts with more power than an all steel shaft. The clubs may be heavier than the Clevelands but I hit better with them and got more power. The loft with these clubs was higher than I expected when I first used them on the golf course, but that is ok as I very often need more loft. I highly recommend these clubs to the beginner golfer looking for a game improvement set of irons. I'm very please with these clubs.

These clubs are great,I thought they would be to stiff for my 95-100 mph swing speed and I sold the T.A's I had because I never could get used to the small blade style, but these irons from 3 through pw. set up perfectly. I love the offset change throughout the clubs, 3 iron is offset and then it goes down gradually from there, p.w. has no offset. Very easy to work the ball, draw, fade, low, high, everything on command. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
