I've been playing golf for 32 years and always preferred the traditional look in my irons...I played Hogan apex blades for years but thought i needed more forgiveness as my knees gave out and my strength started to leave me ...am 61 yrs old...after playing ping i3+ blades for a year...I decided to try at our local golf store a demo set of the beautiful Adams idea pro forged irons ...after hitting them pure into a net I took them to the course...They far exceeded my expectations...I loved the forged feel..the look at address and hit them dead straight and 1/2 a club longer than my Pings...The black gold rifle shafts are a perfect fit !!!! and I had the stiff shafts!!! I thought stiff wouldn't work....WRONG...and I don't feel I need to swing them hard...Even thought they are considered a blade...they are very forgiving with a solid feel...I bought a gap wedge as pitching wedge was a bit too long on my course and lob wedge to use in sand and lobs...This comes as a combo set but I just bought the P to 5 with the optional 4 tritech iron on order... as good as the hybrids are...I was happy with my Nickent hybrids but missed my 4 iron...these are great clubs...I shot a 79 at a very tough course the first round I used them...my partner thought I was a 5-6 handicap...not the 11 I am lol..had I used my new Nike sumo squared driver..might have gone a lot lower :) its loud and proud and oh so straight !! If you are looking for new irons..give Adams a try...they are not old mans clubs..you can work the ball..and very forgiving...

good solid feeling sticks, don't care much for the 3&4 hybrids for me the older idea A2 hybrids are better and longer and more playable. do like the black gold shafts more than dgs300's. seem to be more stable through impact.

was playing the 755's but hitting them way HIGH, higher than I desired too. guess the tri-spec shaft in them was not for me.

pro heads seem to me to be more of a players club than the 755's. they for sure have less offset than the titleist heads.

the feel of the pro's is tuff to put into words other than sweeeeeeeet and pure. distance is above average and short irons for sure drop and stop on the greens, back spin is good also.

great set of clubs adams thanks............

The previous post was done before Adams Golf replied to me, and I thought I had it cancelled, didn't know why it was posted; my apologies to Marc from Adams.

it turns out that it was my local retailer who was giving me issues and witholding info. It has since been resolved and I thank Adams for rectifying the situation.

The clubs, as I mentioned, is top-notch, and after a few rounds, they will stay firmly in the bag. Striking the ball has been fun, and the clubs are workable while being fairly forgiving. It still punishes for less-than-committed strikes, but you're unlikely to be in the doghouse unless it was a swing that no one can save. The build quality is great, and with the Black Golds, these clubs beat other name brands flat. Great price, great clubs, what more can I ask for?

Customer Service

The clubs arrived really fast, and they've been trying their best to offer me solutions. It's unfortunate that the brand is working with a retailer who's indifferent.

Model Reviewed: Adams Idea Pro irons

Ordered a set of Adams idea Pro combos from an authorized Singaporean retailer about 2 weeks ago, after deliberating between Mizunos, Titleist and PINGs. I've played S59 Tours for the last 2 years, and felt I can handle something stronger, the True Temper Black Gold shafts in R-flex felt excellent when I tested it, and I ordered the set, even though Adams is not the most-recognized brand here.

I requested to omit the 3 hybrid (set comes with 3 and 4 hybrids with Aldila VS Proto), as I've already bought it seperately, and also, wanted the Tri-tech 4-iron instead of the hybrid. Minus 2 hybrids, even adding on a 4-iron with the Black Gold, you'd assume that the cost of the set will be lower. No sir, not a chance.

I wanted Golf Pride Decade Multi-Compounds with them, and did not mind paying extra for them. The retailer ordered the clubs with all my requests specified, and I was never told what's the new price of the set, but waited excitedly for them anyway.

When I received them 2 weeks later (which, for a custom set, was amazingly fast), I was not only disappointed at the cost (the retailer claims they were charged at EXACTLY the same price of the normal set) , but ultimately, the quality and service is appalling (this word will appear quite a fair bit).

The clubs came at the EXACT same price, the lie angles on at least 4 clubs were not to specs, the GRIPS WERE NOT CHANGED AT ALL, but CAME WITH THE STOCK ADAMS GRIPS, and most appalling, was the fact that CLAMP MARKS were found on the hosel, cavity, and sole of almost all the clubs.

I was told that the Tour Dept probably built these clubs, and they're probably used to quick assemblies, presumedly finesse is not a top-priority, but for a paying customer's clubs, this sort of "quality" is unacceptable.

I have bought from so many manufacturers (much bigger names), and have never been disregarded to this extent. For a brand such as Adams to act this way, it is appalling and unacceptable.

The sad thing was, the clubs were fantastic! The feel was great, the shafts feel brilliant, and it's a really smart-looking set.

I've emailed th US "Customer Service" Dept for an explanation. It's been 2 days and nary a reply; I guess they were busy with something else other than servicing their customers.

All in, a great set, if you can deal with the appalling service. I cannot recommend the clubs to my buddies wholeheartedly, after such a disappointing experience. I guess this is the reason why Adams can never get to the big leagues; they operate like a minor-league brand.

Customer Service

Terrible. Shipped really fast (2 weeks from order to delivery to Singapore is FAST), but the clubs were not priced properly, and I did not get what I paid for, and no one bothered to reply. So much for customer "service".

I absolutely love these clubs! I have always played with the cavity back more forgiving type cast irons (played TaylorMade 200 Steel for past 5 years). I played well with the 200s, but wanted to take my game to the next level (single digit hncp) and I believe these irons will pave the way. All the reviews I've read about these irons were from scratch golfers or 1-9 hncp'ers...as such, I thought they may be too much of a player's irons for me as a mid hncp'er. However, I love the look at address, the small cavity back still gives some forgiveness and my launch angle is high and straight(S flex) with no significant loss is distance over my 200's...and I'm finally able to work the ball. I now know what "feels like butter" truly means...hitting these solid is buttery soft! As for the hybrids...they are awesome. I'd prviously used the TM Rescue Dual and I like these much better. The hybrids have a solid feel with a sleeker look...great confidence booster.

These irons aren't only for the low hncp'er....mid cappers take notice and give these a try!

After trying the r7 TP irons and the X-20 tour irons I felt frustrated that I might not find a new set of irons to replace my existing staff ultra 45's that are at the end of their 13 year run.

After walking into my local golf shop I was excited to see a used mint left handed set. I loved the look and thought I would head outside to the on-site range.

In the rain and cold of an August Sunday I hit shot after shot where I was looking finally with the penetrating ball flight I had been searching for. Not sure if I just got lucky but the True Temper black gold stiff shaft is incredible compared to the SD300 or the Precision ProjectX 6.0.

Didn't hit any balls with the hybrids because I fell so in love with the irons I thought I'll worry about those later.

Just waiting for the rain to clear and going to head out to the range. Adams does have a perception of being the old guy irons. Forget about that perception and give them a try I don't think you will be disappointed.

I love these clubs! My ability to play has been diminished with the addition of children so I thought I might go with a "easy to hit club" and I bought Callaway Fusions on a whim to replace my Ping I3's. Absolutely hated the Fusions so I went to the golf shop looking to try the Titleist 755's or Mizuno MP60's. Well I saw the Adams Pro Forged set and licked them up. They looked gorgeous. Took them out to hit them and fell in love immediately. The irons have a wonderful feel but aren't too hard to hit. Luscious when hit well and good feedback when not hit in the center. The 3 and 4 hybrids are just too east to hit. It's like cheating with these. I ordered them with +3/4" stiff shafts and 3 degrees upright and i got them in 8 days. I highly recommend these clubs.

this is one sweet players club. i love the lack of offset. the club sets up beautifully. if you are an old blade traditionalist, like i was, this is the answer. the feel is soft yet gives excellent feedback. i have tried quite a few hybrids and these are the easiest to hit. i have regular shafts and play to a 2. swing speed is between 95 - 100. i highly recommend these if you want to get the ball in the air and have the thin top line look.

Bought a set of these irons when they first came out in Novemmer 2006. I immediately liked the feel and the accuracy in which I hit these irons. I demo'd them 3 different days at the range and liked the feel each time.
I demo'd them with a Black Gold stiff shaft, which I can hit very nicely, but ended up ordering them in a regular shaft. I don't have a swing speed in the 100 mile range, so the regular shaft is well suited for me. I don't notice a lot of differnece in accuracy between the regular and stiff shaft. I would recommend the regular shaft for anyone under 96 mph, not much difference in control and you can add a few extra yards on your carry with the regular shaft. The heads are a very soft feel but you can still feel the ball come off the clubface and get feedback. Super shaft performance, especially for a bit lighter than normal iron shaft. I would hit the shaft at least 2-3 differnt days to get used to the feel of the lighter shaft. But well worth the effort.
Recieved them to my spec's in a very timely manner.
Very courteous and responsive customer service

I can't believe it, I actually love this set of clubs. I always thought Adams were for the "old guys", but there not. Distance is great, feel is outstanding, excellent look at set-up. The Black-Gold shafts, for me, hae a much better feel than the rifles. My only question is, why aren't more people talking about this set of clubs? The hybrid replacing the 3 iron is genious, I strike the ball pretty well (5 hndcp), but the hybrid pro-3 is significantly easier to hit than every "players" three iron I've tried. The 4-Hybrid is also great, although I've ordered the traditional 4-iron to replace it. I still think I have enough of a swing to hit an actual 4-iron, at least in my mind I do. Has any one else tried these clubs? Let me know if I've lost my mind or are these really as solid of a set as I think! Used to be a Callaway guy, tried the X20-Tour, really wanted to love them, but the Adams just flat-out out performed them.

Customer Service

Excellent. Special order arrived 6 days after I ordered them. 1/2 degree up, one extra wrap.
