I bought my EVO V-31s about 2 years ago with stiff, Tri-Gold shafts and must say that the EVO V-31 is truly one of the best combinations of form and functionality on the market today. As my game has improved, I, like most golfers, have been looking for the next great set of clubs to help “catapult” my game to the next level (my handicap is about 20 and has been falling this past year as my swing improves and becomes more consistent). I’ve demo’d all the major brands and must say that NONE OF THEM STAND UP AGAINST MY ARMOURs. These are still some of the best looking clubs on the market. At setup, they feel light and powerful, their profile is classy and they provide great feedback, control and workability, not to mention feeling silky smooth through impact. I bought my set about 2 years ago when Armour introduced the “evolving cavityback-to-blade” design from low to high irons to the golfing world. This concept is great for mid-handicappers and my appreciation for these clubs grows every time I’m on the course. Most major OEMs are now developing these “evolving” sets of clubs but I believe that Armour is still the only manufacturer that offers(ed) a cast model which means that for around $200 on e-bay and other online closeout retailers, EVO V-31s are a golf investment you cannot pass up, especially if you are looking at the Nike Pro Combos, TM RAC Combos or others. As for build quality, after 2 years of 20+ rounds per year, I can still put a TON of bite on the ball. WORD OF ADVICE: No club will magically fix swing flaws. These clubs will not “iron” out mis-hits to make you more consistent. These clubs are “game-improvement” in the sense that they will enable you to improve your swing by giving you great feedback so that you know where the clubface struck the ball. As your swing improves, you REALLY start to appreciate these clubs.

As you have likely read in the other reviews, these clubs are fantastic. While they aren't the most forgiving clubs I have ever hit, they are the most accurate. With a traditional approach and a low center of gravity, they look great and feel great. Unfortunately, these clubs are not for everyone. While they are wonderful if you hit the ball cleanly (and I CANNOT stress "wonderful" enough), if you do not hit the ball cleanly they will not simply "make up" for your errors as some clubs (notably the comparable "stripes" irons) will. While this could be considered a detriment if you are simply looking for a serviceable set of clubs, it MUST be noted that this actually has the effect of "forcing" you to use a swing that is more "pure" so to speak. All that said, if you are looking for a set of clubs that will improve your game and you have a pretty solid swing, these clubs are for you. Also, if you are looking for a club that will give you feedback when you don't hit them well (thus improving your game by helping you to adjust), then these are for you. If you simply want a set of clubs to help you out, then you might want to look elseware.

I purchased these clubs during the summer of 2002 in hopes of groving a better swing. I was playing an oversized set of irons that I hit well but I wanted to get a more traditional blade style iron. I was sold when I took them for a test drive on the simulator and I hit the 5 iron 175. This was a huge improvement over my normal 155 to 160 distance. I was less enthusiastic when I got out on the course and really struggled getting a consistent shot into the green. (Needless to say it wasn't the club, it was me) I took a lesson to straighten out my swing and now I'm hitting the sweetest shots I have ever hit. Shot my first 42 for 9 holes last week. Had a birdie on the third hole, 145 yard down hill par 3. I faded a light 7 iron to within 3 feet left of the hole and spun it sideways 2 feet past the hole. These clubs are a great value and I highly recommend them, but if you are a high handicapper like me I would take some lessons so you don't set your expectations too high.

I was searching for a new set of irons for the 2003 season. Previously I was using a set of Macgregor Tourney (oversized). After reading several reviews I purchased the Armour V31's (mid size) I went to the range and to test the distance between the Macgregor’s and the Armours I had on average 2 club length difference with the Armours coming out on top. The one thing I really like about these clubs is the ability to work the ball, with that said these clubs will reward a very good swing, yet on slight miss hits you get loss of distance and accuracy. Excellent set of clubs for the mid to low handicapper.

I bought the v31's when they were a relatively new club a few years ago. Since these irons are essentially blades as opposed to cavity or oversized irons, they were certainly intended to cater more to a mid to low handicap player who has already experienced play with an oversized iron and who desires a club that can offer more to a higher level golfer. By the phrase "offers more" I am reffering to workability (left or right movement), increased reward to a well struck ball, and increased ability to cut through rough and fairway grass. The head is significantly smaller than your typical cavity iron because it is tailored less for forgivenes and more for workability. Said simply the club assumes the shot will be sufficiently well struck and focuses more on what happenes once the ball is airborn. This being said, I find the evo v31's an extremely competant and facilitating set of irons as long as the player has already established solid shot making ability and is seeking a club to fine tune his or her game. I would suggest these clubs for no one who plays a handicap higher than 13 or 15. At the same time these clubs would be perfect for a even a scratch golfer.

I was looking for a new set of clubs that would not break the bank and at $149 I figure I couldn't lose. Most of my scores are in the 90's but I do hit the 80's every once in awhile. My low score being 81. I am hoping that these clubs will help me consistently shooting in the 80's. I had a problem with accuracy with my old oversized clubs. I am not perfect but my playing partner and myself have notice a great improvement in my accuracy instantly from using these clubs. My distances have stayed pretty well the same (115 PW, 130 9I, 145 8I, etc...)even though my old clubs were regular shafts and these are stiff. My accuracy has improved greatly and with the smaller head size I noticed that I have better tempo, probably because I concentrate more to hit them. When you hit the club pure it is the nicest feeling I have ever felt. When you miss-hit you know, and you know exactly where you hit it. With out looking at the club I could tell you the exact location of where I hit it within an 1/8th inch. Miss-hits do not lose much distance and usually follow the desired flight path. I haven't had any problems with taking a divot, if anything, they are easier to take. The club glides effortlessly through the turf. When you set up the club it does seem small after using oversized clubs but for some reason I feel more confident. Once you get use to the size (similar to titleist 960's)they look great at set up. I have the reduced offset version, never been a big fan of the big offset clubs, couldn't hit them solid. I have hit other more expensive clubs that do not feel as good as these. I would recommend that anyone looking for new clubs, give these a try. If you like them, you'll have enough money left over for a bag, balls, windshirt, towel, tees, ball marker, spare tire for golf cart, and maybe a down payment on your membership.

I chose these after reading the reviews at this site, testing them (alongside Hogans, Mizuno and Taylor Made), and finding a great price. After one round, I was disappointed. But after 3 rounds,I wanted to go out and buy another set, so when these wear out I won't have to worry abour replacing them. I'm hitting more greens in regulation, setting up makable birdie putts, and already shaping shots like never before. They've got a ton of touch, reduce (but don't eliminate) my chronic draw, respond well to my misses, and respond even better to sweet hits. Absolutely as good, if not better, than clubs that cost several times as much.

Bought these clubs spring 02'. I went from shooting in the low 80's to high 70's. Great feel and good distance. In my opinion these are solid clubs. I dont think they would be the best choice for a Beginner.
