I don't get to the course much, but I had to write about these clubs. I have had my Apex II's for 18 years. I played with them for about 15 years before buying a new set of Wilson Staff irons with graphite shafts. Once a year a group of us play at Pinehurst. I played with my Wilsons and it was like playing hockey on the fairways. I was not able to break 120. After a 4 month break from golf I switched back to my Hogan Apex II Forged Blades and shot a 107. The fairway play was great. Most of the 107 came from inconsistent chipping and awful putting. My best rounds, though still in the low 100's minus 1 fluke 95, have been played with the Hogan Apex II's in the bag. The feel and accuracy of these clubs is second to none.

I am 32 and I ahve been playing the old Hogan Apex II's for about 13 years. They were "old" when I picked them up but I cannot find a club I like better. I can shape shots and actually feel if I hit it good or not. They have made me a better player. I would recommened them to anyone who is a 15 handicap or less.

Although my scoring may not show it, I have to say that when I picked these irons up off ebay for $40, it was the best money I had spent on golf in the past year.

I hadn't played a set of forged blade irons since using my Dad's Spaldings back in the 80's. So, I thought I would give it a try for a minimal investment. I have to admit this is a completely different experience.

These irons, although unforgiving, will force you to concentrate on your swing mechanics rather than letting the golf club technology fix your swing faults. After just a few range sessions, I have improved my accuracy and shot shaping 10 fold.

I would not suggest these to everyone, but for me they are the perfect fit. Don't be afraid to try forged irons, the feel and control is excellent.

I have a set Hogan Directors(circa late 70's)that I will never get rid of. They have the legend shaft(versus the apex)which makes these irons still perform after almost 30 years. They are the classic blade style. Look down is good but the heads are quite small compared to today's standards. The thing I like about them the most is you don't have to swing real hard to get the ball flying.I still have the original grips on these. Though I don't play them much anymore, I keep them around to remind just how better of a golfer I was at 16 versus being 40(oh those summer days I could play from 8am to 5pm) Many of my golf friends still like to look at these aged dogs. They do demonstrate one thing,a Hogan club still requires a pretty good swing. I know when I was in my teens, these clubs were hot among many golfers(along with the Apex and the those lovly Apex 2's)

these are classic muscle back blades, they have a thin sole, and a small head.Pretty forgiving for a blade. These are shot shapers and shot makers clubs. No offset makes the trajectory easy to control.Great clubs for working the ball. These irons are at the top of the chart for feel.Like butter you can feel that ball compress just before it comes off the face.Provide plenty of spin, can hit the ball low to high and let it drop softly with every club.I am playing them now and think they are just wonderful.Special bonus these clubs look great real eye catchers.
