For the money, absolutely the best set of irons available. Very long and straight, but also easy to work. Traditional looking and an overall outstanding set of irons.

I could not pass up the ben hogans for 199$. I own the BH-5's and the FTX models. The FTX's are heavier and the ofset of the BH-5's helped me in fixing my push. If you are looking for feel get the FTX's, but I have to say I get about 5 more yards with the BH-5 series. The feel is O.K. at best not what you would expect from a set of hogans, but they sound nice. Well worth the price though.

For a new golfer like myself, these clubs are excellent. I was able to pick them up from a large online auction site for $175 shipped. At this price its a no-brainer. Clubs are quite forgiving and I am hitting the ball at least 20yds longer than I did with the same club in my old set of generics. The apex edge shafts are nice, and these are regulars, not stiffs. I dont think my swing speed is fast enough to need stiffs. Grips are nice, for a factory offering. Overall great club and even greater price,

I used these irons for two years and, having just purchased cg2's, will be sad to see them go. They look better than any other cast cavity back irons, and the price is fantastic.($240 cdn) I found that they are easy to hit, very forgiving, and reasonably consistant distance wise. A great set of irons for any 10 plus handicap.

I have been playing with Ben Hogan FTX for the past 18 months and have been delighted with them but with my game going off slightly I thought I would give the BH5s a try, particularly as the stores who still have them are virtually giving them away.

Having purchased a set of non offset with apex 4 steel shafts, I was straight on the course and must say these are a delight to hit, the sweet spot is such that any half decent golfer will not miss it.

There is no issues with distance and they can shape the ball both ways. The feedback is similar if not as defined as the FTXs.

These are a quality club Not as elegant as the FTX but if you are considering a change of clubs and can get your hands on these, dont hesitate they are an excellent all round club

Customer Service

Not needed to date but would be confident with the 'Ben Hogan' reputation

I can't say enough about these clubs. Changed from Taylor 360's to the BH-5's because the 360's had minimal feel characteristics (due to the urethane cartridge) and wanted a club with less weighting for more workability. I tried these against Titleist, Cobra, Cleveland, Ping (which I loved), Taylor RAC and couldn't believe the feel, peformance and price. Regardless of price, these were the ones that I knew right away were the ones. It took very little time to adjust and they didn't disappoint. The technology is reminiscient of the Callaway x-14 series. Really very happy with these clubs and the price was an added bonus. I really don't understand the lack of popularity of these clubs especially at their cost.

Great clubs, fairly easy to hit. Distance is very good, and shot control too. I mean, you can really work out the ball with these clubs.
These are clearly not forges blades, neither the most game improvement clubs. They are somewhere in the middle of the spectrum.
I was playing PING ISI-K stiff graphite, and the change wasn’t easy. It took some time to be confident with the BH-5, mainly because you see a noticeably smaller & thinner face, and almost without any offset (against PING’s offset that is quite important). But after some weeks, I’m incredibly comfortable, confident & even hitting some extra yards with these babes.
If you want a more challenging but controllable club, and don’t want to pay a fortune…this is the right choice.

I HAVE NEVER UNDERSTOOD WHY THIS IRON NEVER WALKED OFF THE RACK- IT,S AESTHETICS ALONE MADE IT CATCH MY EYE. THE PRICE WAS ALSO RIDICULOUSLY LOW. YOU FELLOWS WHO HAVE TO OWN THE LATEST AND GREATEST OBVIOUSLY DON'T KNOW A VALUE WHEN YOU SEE ONE. NEXT TIME YOU COMPARE THE BH5'S PLAYABILITY WITH PING,TITLEIST,CALLAWAY OR ANY OTHER "NAME BRAND" IRON YOU'LL BE HARD-PRESSED TO FIND MUCH OF A DIFFERENCE. YOU WOULD BE FAR BETTER OFF INVESTING THE MONEY SAVED IN LESSONS!

I have been playing the BH5's for nearly a year. I demo'd extensively before buying these, and can say price was not the motivating factor, though it didn't hurt.

I can state emphatically I prefered the BH5's to the X18s price withstanding. The Hogans provided better feel and workability, as well as preferred asthetics.

The Ben Hogan BH-5 irons are now quite the bargain, and an outstanding set of irons.
