Callaway X-12 Irons

Callaway X-12 Irons

DESCRIPTION

The 1998 Big Bertha Irons feature all of the game-enhancing characteristics of the Great Big Bertha Titanium irons in a stainless steel head. The sweet-spot of the club has been increased over the standard Big Bertha iron. The weight has been re-distributed around the club and the center-of-gravity has been lowered to create a more heel-and-toe balanced iron. The top line has also been thinned to make this the most playable club Callaway has ever created. (Price for 3-PW Steel Shaft)

I have the X12's with factory installed DGS300 shafts. As long as anything I've ever played and provide a high, straight ball flight. Easier for a right hander to work the ball right to left than vice versa due to the offset, but an overall great set of irons. The best Callaway has ever produced, and the best irons I've ever used in my opinion.

After growing a lot over the past couple of years (as 16 year olds will tend to do) I decided it was time to buy bigger, nicer, clubs as my old spaldings were not that good of clubs. Being only 16, money is not easy to come by, but I didn't want to buy another cheap set of clubs, I wanted the real deal. I decided that I would buy a nice set of used clubs off eBay. After a couple days of looking I found them, a set of Callaway Big Bertha X-12s for $220 in very good shape. They took a little getting used to but once I got used to them I loved them. My swing needed some work so I have been taking private lessons with my local pro. He has helped me with my swing and I am now hitting these to their full potential. I'm a big, tall guy who likes to swing hard. I can hit these things far and straight. They are extremely forgiving too. My only complaint is that I'm not a big fan of the X-12 wedges so I recommend that you buy some of Callaway's Forged wedges. For those people who say that you do not have as much feel as blades you are correct. You do not have as much feel but you still have quite a bit and good shots feel great while as bad shots do not feel as good, thought they do feel better then mis-hits with blades. You also cannot work the ball as well as with blades but it still is possible to work the ball. In conclusion I love these clubs and would recommend them to just about everyone.

Customer Service

Didn't need it for these clubs but I had to send my Callaway Great Big Bertha Driver into get reshafted and it took 5 long weeks. They were slow and I didn't even get the shaft I ordered and was over-charged. Maybe I just had a bad experience.

I loved the clubs. I started playing with blades but have found great forgiveness with these clubs (as expected). Great feel on impact and a great overall experience so far...

Very powerfull Irons I have to say, but no difference in feel between good and bad shots. The Offset drived me crazy at adress. Anyway, very good clubs. Have them sold 2 days ago and go back to Taylor Made. ( 320 Steel Stiff, new on Ebay for $ 275 2-PW )

I got these n a straight up trade for a set of Titleist 981's and these have turned out (so far, 3 months or so and counting) to be VERY good irons for my game. I first thought I'd just use these till I got in “mid- season form” and then switch to my X-14 pros BUT I'm hitting these so well that I'm afraid to try anything else. I hit them straight and much higher than most all of the other sets I’ve tried in the past. I thought the amount of offset would make me hit the ball to the left a lot BUT that haven’t been the case and even though looking down at the thick top line did bug me a little at first BUT I have to admit that the main thing is to score well, that is correct,,,,, right? Well these irons help me do just that.

I bought these irons 5 years ago. I highly recommend them for golfers who have trouble getting the ball airborne. They are certainly long, high, and straight. I like to work the ball so I've gone back to stiff steel shafted irons. The X12's are absolutely the easiest clubs I ever hit. Just not for me. Bob Rayno

Was having trouble with my long irons. Went searching and decided to give these a try. Bought a 4 and 5 iron from the single club bin, had them bent 2 degrees up. Took them to an open field and hit em. Straight as an arrow. Played league that night. Was like hitting a radio controlled ball. Lined up the direction I wanted to go, swung, landed were I was aiming. Easy game. The feel is a little dead compared to my Mizuno Grads, but I still use my Grad scoring irons and work the ball just fine. Hitting these things is like cheating. Don't know what the short irons are like and I don't care because I probably will never use them. The long irons make the the game fun!!!!!

Customer Service

I don't know, have not used. But I have heard great things.

I had a set of x-14.I like the feel of the X-12's better.I think its the shaft. Great clubs and extremly forgiving. These clubs help me stay in the fairway even when my ball striking tries to keep me out of it.Ive had these clubs for about a year and would highly recommend these clubs to anyone who enjoys playing from the fairway.
