I have been playing the x-14 close to five years now. I get to golf about once every two months, but I do try to go the the driving range at least twice a month.

The x-14 are one of the best irons you will find out there, at any price range. They are forgiving, accurate, well balanced, and long. You do get some feedback on off-center hits, but not to the same extend as some of the players club. If you are looking for game improvement clubs, these are worth trying. Don't expect a luxury Mercedes to perform like a Porsche.

Perhaps our friend "UCSD Golfer" used a set of 'non-authentic'x-14 during his Asia trip. My uncle bought a set of x-14 immitation from China a few years back. They look awfully good, but just don't feel the same. Beware.

I tried these clubs when golfing in Asia.
Since I forgot my golf clubs in the States, I were forced to play with my friend's X-14 that costed well over a grand. These clubs had no feel.
Every shot felt the same; bad shots, good shots plus I had no distance control. My pitching wedge was so erratic for distance control, forget trying to shape your shots, game improvement irons are not designed for that!!! Callaway clubs are made in China, and have very poor quality control. You are basically over paying for an inferior set clubs!!!

I've been playing with X-14 for about 3 years and these are one of the best clubs out there. I've tried many clubs but none of them had the feel and forgiveness of X-14s. My previous clubs were X-12s. X-14s are little less forgiving than the X-12s but it has better feel, sound and distance than the X-12s. The X-14s look a lot better too.

Model Reviewed: X-14 Uniflex Steel shaft Left Handed

I love the X-14's. I just bought a brand new set of lefties off Ebay. Getting real hard to find them new nowadays. Already knowing my measurements, I sent these to Callaway to have the heads bent and the shafts shortened. I've kept the Uniflex shaft in for now. I might upgrade at the end of the season to TT Dynamic Gold. The Uniflex is a pretty good shaft. It plays more like a regular flex which isn't a bad thing. I have an average swing speed of 93mph, so I can get away with this flexable shaft as long as I kept it smooth and steady. I've owned two sets of X-14's in the past. I tinker with new clubs from time to time but always come back to these. They're a dream to hit and I love their simple, classic looks. The offset and cavity design offers quite a bit of forgiveness. I'm not the greatest ball shaper in the world but I have a few different shots up my sleeve that I pull off consistently with these irons. I've also noticed that the offset helps quite a bit with greenside shots; keeps the hands out in front. Years ago, the thicker top line drove me mad. Now, I welcome it. It's all part of the confidence booster. I did the "blades" thing for a while. Most of my buddies play them. They always talk about the orgasmic feel of hitting the sweet spot. I'll stick with my Callys. They're much more reliable and they fit my game. Plus, I don't look like a wanna-be Tiger Woods. I tried the newer Callaways but didn't see much difference; just some funky artwork in the cavities. I recently bought and sold a set of Ping G5's. Great clubs and I can't fault them. The Pings were the first set I got fitted for. It made me realize how important that aspect is. When I got my new set of X-14's, I had them fitted right away. I'm sure these will stay in the bag this time around. Besides, I'm counting my blessings that i was able to buy them new. Totally lucked out!

Customer Service

Nobody beats them here. Not only did they do all the fitting work for free, but they also sent me a pre-paid shipping lable. I felt that was way above and beyond your typical customer service. Incredible!

I've played many excellent clubs. The X-14's always end up in my bag. They are the "do-it-all" club.

Model Reviewed: Steelhead X-14 with Constant Weight Steel Shaft About Reviewer: 10 Handicap Play 1x a Month at Upscale Daily Fee Courses Hit range balls 1x month Comments: These clubs inspire confidence at address. The offset promotes a draw while the wide soles prevent fat shots. The ball launches high and travels far. These clubs are easy to play and are very good if you don't get to practice or play often. Prior to the X-14's, I played Macgregor Muirfield 20ths which are incredible blades. With the Callaway's, draws are easy and I can also work the ball left to right. The fade is not as dramatic as with the Macgregors, but it is consistent in flight and therefore usable. These are very nice irons for a player who doesn't get to play or practice much.

I was offered to try these clubs by a friend as I was struggling with my set. These clubs felt very comfortable and they were just amazing. I haven’t felt more in control hitting a golf ball so true and far in a very long time. You will need to get used to them, but after a couple of rounds they are really great. Try them out! You will not be disappointed.

Model Reviewed: X14 Steelheads - Steel shaft

Lets start with a bold statement... These clubs are very good. They have an excellent launch angle, good feel off the face and sit well behind the ball - the trouble is they aren't the best. I brought these clubs as a replacement for the blades that I had used for years. At the time I brought them I was only playing golf once a week and only during the summer. Since taking the game up seriously again (after a 15 year+ layoff !!) I have started to play more and thats when I found the problems with these irons. It is nearly impossible to shape the ball with these clubs, I'm not a pro but I know how and when to put side spin on a golf ball, these irons DON'T let me do that. They hit the ball very high and very straight, which is great, don't get me wrong, they are just a bit too 'dumb'. I get the occasional 'hot' shot as well, making distance control a bit of a bind, they have quite an inconsistent face on them and because of the high launch weighting (and low kick shaft) they have taken a load of loft off the clubs which means you're a club lower everywhere than I am used too and on a windy day keeping a sensible trajectory is nearly impossible. These are great clubs for a mid handicapper or a high handicapper wanting to improve, but for the single figure player I'd recommend a good set of blades. Watch out on ebay over the next few months, I have my heart set on some Mizuno MP32's so the X14's will be going !!

Customer Service

I have heard they are very good

i have been a ping player for over 15 years.getting up in age i found it hard to hit the eye2's with the zz lite shafts.i looked at ping, taylor made and callaway.after taking out the demo clubs and and using them on the course,i purchased a set of x 14's with the uniflex steel shaft.i have gotten my game back the way it was 10 years ago.the clubs hit the ball dead straight and long.i mean long.using my eye2's i used a 5 iron for shots of 170-175 yards.with the x 14's i use a hard 7 or and easy 6. they really make the game a lot easier.the best part is the price.under 400.00 for a new set.

Customer Service

i needed the clubs adjusted 2 degrees up.callaway's customer service dept issued a call tag, adjusted the clubs, and returned them in 4 days at no charge.the best i have ever dealt with.
