Callaway X Forged Irons 6.0
I recently bought a set of Callaway X Forged irons, 6.0 Project X shafts. First round I played with them was today. Wow - what a set of irons!! I previously had a set of Callaway 2004 Big Bertha's which I absolutely loved - till I hit these Forged X irons. They hit the ball straight as an arrow. I'm a fairly consistent ball striker - but shoot in the mid 80's on a good day (mainly due to silly mistakes around the green - sound familiar?). Anyway - I did a lot of reading up a lot on these irons and they live up to the hype - sweet as butter off the club, and even go straight on mis-hits. Distances are deadly accurate - right on the money. My swing speed is high 80's low 90's on a good day, 9 iron 125, 8 iron 140, 7 iron 155, etc. I feel within a few weeks I'll really start to see a big difference in my game - due to the focus on ball striking that is necessary with these clubs. It can only get better - right??? I picked these up off E-bay at approximately 1/2 price (~ $450 for 3-PW) - brand new off the display shelf (got lucky!). I wouldn't recommend paying the full $900 - wait and buy some off E-bay or from someone who jumped too soon to a player's iron. I would recommend these for consistent players in the mid/high 80's and lower. If you can't hit the ball straight with cavity backs - stick with those till you can get it going straight. These do require a good sound swing. Customer Service Not applicable. Similar Products Used: Callaway 2004 Big Bertha Irons

If you love the feel of "pure" shot then these clubs are for you. If you shoot in the 90's or 100's you may need to get better before you buy these. These clubs do require you to be able to find the sweet spot. Just like with any players clubs, the better you play the better they will reward you. I've played Mizuno MX-20's for years & yes it's true that nothing feels better the a well struck Mizuno. But with these they are just as smooth. I am about the same length, even though these clubs are 1 degree weaker. I demoed taylormade tour burners, mizuno mp60's ping g10's and these were the best of all.If you have played cast clubs, you need to try these.
Customer Service I bought these on a Tuesday & they showed up 2 days later. Callaway's service is top notch. Similar Products Used: Mizuno MX-20, Titleist 981 |

You don't buy a formula 1 car, if you only know how to drive a normal nice family car, and you don't play with a set of Callaway X-forged and think, you will get any good results out of it, if you only play golf a couple of times a month.

These irons are a revelation! I previously used a similar profile MacGregor but I've had them a while and I have desperately needed to change from a graphite shaft to steel, and of course the next level. I am a tall, bulky guy and swing fairly fast. I trialled the X-forged along with the Mizuno 57s and 60s which were well recommended. I chose the X because they gave me more consistency in length, line and spin and I've taken 5 shots off my handicap, unfortunately, purely down to the clubs. I just wish I'd bought them a year earlier! My recommendation BUY BUY BUY!!! Customer Service I needed an inch added to my shaft length and wanted some fatter grips. Customer service was fast and efficient!!! Similar Products Used: Mizuno 57s/60s, Macgregor Forged, Taylor Made RAC CGB (Slightly more oversize) |

i bought these irons second hand from a local golf shop for £265 with project x 6.0 shafts. the set was in extremely good condition and i couldnt pass up the offer. sold my clunky slingshots to my dad and bought the 2 - p set after testing these, 695mb , mp 32's and the mp 33's.
Customer Service haven't used yet, but in the shop (hensol golf academy) i was very pleased that they knocked £34 off of the £299 price after i asked if they would be sold any cheaper :D Similar Products Used: mizuno mp 33, mizuno mp 60, mizuno mp 32, titleist ap2, taylormade rac mb tp (2005 cavity), nike cci, mizuno mp 37. |

Say goodbye to the easy hit for distance. My rescue club is my 5i(easy 190 yds, strong 220+) no matter what brand I play. I have lost almost a club length in distance with a normal strike. These clubs are definately for the player not the learner. I claim operator error on this one knowing my capabilities. I have deducted that these irons have to be hit with a little more pace to make up the distance. Scoring irons are deadly accurate distance wise (PW 110-120, 9i 125-135, 8i 150+-). These clubs are designed for lower handicap golfers. One plus to the distance issue is that I have not flown any greens, which is cool. Flying a green on a great shot on line is like missing a 3 foot put. If I am playing infront of the pin there is no punishment for overcooking the swing a bit. If I have to play behind the pin I am less intimidated to go after it. For me it is not a bad weather club as you cannot get a little more when you need it. In oregon the weather can dictate your game too often unfortunately. I am going to hang on to them for the tournaments where I need to count on distance, however should the whether turn I will purchase a cavity back. The shafts may me a little light (project x 6.0) Similar Products Used: Taylormade Burner cavity backs, Tour-edge V-forged, and Tommy armour silver scot forged |

I've had my current (Tommy Armour) irons since I was about 8 years old and right now I play on the high school varsity team, so I figured I might as well get some new clubs!

X Forged
I have recently played the MP 32s, the MP 60s and now, the X Forged. Frankly, I wanted to pick another iron, but this one kept winning across all the important tradeoffs. For me, those include (most importantly) the look of the club at address, the feel of the club throughout the swing and, of course, the feedback the club provides. While it's true that nothing approaches a well struck Mizuno, us non-professional players ought to be focused on the feel of a slightly off center hit, etc. That's where I became convinced that the X Forged was going to help me score better -- in the longer run, across more rounds, than my MPs. I ordered the 4 thru P, despite the fact that I hit the 3 iron 15 yards further than I ever hit the Mizuno. I'm going to pick up one of the new Cobra hybrids -check them out. I'll write again once I get a few more rounds in these (5.5. X -which took several returns to the factory to get right). But I'm feeling pretty good about my decision. Hell, I wanted to buy the new Titleists blades, but I'm a five handicap at a first class course who plays 2-3 times each week in season. Did I mention that I"m 80.
Customer Service The shafts went back for matching twice. I was told it was a problem and it was. Similar Products Used: Mp 32s. Titleist 990s, MP 60s. |
