They seem to be okay clubs, but I took them out of the bag and went back to my Titleist DCI 990 irons. The sole is too thick for me. I would think anyone from a scratch handicap up to +10 would not like these irons. I am going to try a set of Taylormade R7TPs.

I've now owned my X tour irons for over 6 months and I have to say, these are the best irons Ive ever hit.

I did have a set of Titleist 735cm, but these Callaways offer forgiveness as well as the ability to work the ball. You don't get punished for off centre shots.

They look great address and overall, they are a great looking set.

I love these clubs. I recently brought the x tour with the Rifle Project X 6.0 Flighted shafts, and can't believe the difference that these clubs have on accuracy and shaping shots. The shafts really make a difference, and it's important to get fitted for your swing. I highly recommend these clubs to better players.

Customer Service

Callaway is a great company; most authorized retailers offer great customer service.

Model Reviewed: Callaway X-Tour (2005) M75i Graphite Stiff Flex

I have had the X-Tour Irons with the Graphite M75i Stiff shafts for about 2 years. I love the club but have had to send various clubs out of the set back to Callaway for repair due to a splintering of the shaft at the hosel. Recently, the 9 iron head just fell off after hitting an easy sand shot. The 9 iron shaft was already replaced once.

Customer Service

Callaway has always replaced the shafts no questions asked, even though I am not the original owner. Now, they are offering to replace the entire set for me.

This is a compromise club. A compromise between a true player's club and a game improvement cavity back. You don't get the best of both worlds, but you get something in the middle. The heads are small length-wise, but fat both on top and the sole. The soles work OK from most lies, but narrower soles are better for around the greens. The forgiveness is surprisingly good. These clubs are easy to hit, but they want to go high and straight. More difficult to work shots compared to true player's clubs. That said, it is possible to bend your shots somewhat with these. The sound/feel at impact is unusual. The best word to describe it is "muted", not necessarily bad, just muted. These do not feel like a Mizuno blade - they have a more hollow feel and sound. Overall, this is a club I wanted Callaway to make for a long time and they finally did. I suspect that the new X forged is the result of some of the things I noted above, with Callaway's hope being that the X forged will be more of a true player's club. For those looking for something between a true player's club and a game improvement club, this would be a very good club to try. I've been playing them for 2 years.

Just a follow up on my last post regarding shooting first from 101 to 90s. I now shoot in the lower 80s no matter what course i play on, and am aiming to shoot in the 70s. These irons are awesome and help me become a better player because it lets me know what mistakes i am making when i don't make contact with the ball correctly. Good luck to you all.

They can have my Callaway x-Tour irons when they pry them from my cold, dead fingers....I've played just about every blade and "mixed set" irons available over the last 5 years. IE. Titleist 681, Mizuno MP-14, Hogan Directors, Nike Pro-Combo. These are hands down the easiest, best feeling, consistent forged irons i've touched. Relatively forgiving but you can work them too. Substantial but not "clunky" looking. The new x-20's are patterned after these irons and will probably be the best selling irons Callaway ever makes. It would take something really special from another manufacturer to get me to switch from these irons. I haven't picked up anything in the last year that I like better.

Customer Service

Haven't needed it, but understand their top shelf.
