Cleveland CG Red Irons

Cleveland CG Red Irons

DESCRIPTION

The CG Red "Tour Spec" iron is the preferred option for Cleveland Golf's Tour staff. With a classic "player" profile, this club fits the eye of the accomplished golfer. Incorporating new Gelback Technology and next generation Micro-Cavity® Technology (MCT), workability, responsiveness and feel are at the forefront of this club design. Less offset allows more workability for the accomplished player. A thinner topline also fits the better player's eye.

I am the best ever, so after this review you can stop reading. All other players bow to me whether they know it or not. My buddy tried these clubs at the range and wanted my input before he considered purchasing them. He knows I am the best around so he loves to hear my advice on clubs. It is a real treat for him when I let him play with me. I recently bought the AP2’s and was kinda tired of club testing. However, I told him I would play them in my Tuesday afternoon scramble league, which is a two person 9 hole scramble. Me and my partner, who isn’t nearly as good as me, haven’t lost yet this year and typically shoot 5-7 under. I was closing a multi-million dollar deal Tuesday afternoon so I was running a little late, and didn’t have time to hit the range before teeing off. I got there 5 minutes late but wasn’t worried; they would never start without me. Typically, I make a grander entrance but this time I hopped out of the Benz, ignored the “cat calls” from the wives, picked up a sixer and told the head pro to run me out to my starting hole. He fumbled in his speech and apologized for sending the groups out before I arrived. I told him don’t let it happen again and he put the six-pack on the club. When I got to my starting hole, I pulled my first shot a tad and was surprised by the feedback I got from the club. I toed it a bit but knew this was because the clubs were not fitted to my specs. I could tell immediately how I missed the shot by the sound and feel. At times, because I knew we would win the tournament, I would play my partner’s greenside misses to get a feel for the wedge (I really wanted to give my friend good input). My chips spun like my old Ping Eyes that are now considered illegal by the USGA for their “U” groves. On a side note, I think that ruling was a little fishy and the players strong armed the USGA. I can say that this set is almost good enough for me. It isn’t the name brand or as expensive as I like my irons, but if money was an issue they might make the cut for my bag. Give them a whirl and a hard look. My buddy bought up the next day.

Never called them. I don't want people knowing I am talking with Cleveland unless it is about a wedge.

I got out of bed to try the CG Red. I was led to the ball shed by a guy named Ted. He said, why don't you play 18 with my best friend Ned? I said, instead I'll play with Jed. I shot so low it was where few men tread. Oh, by the way, i got major cred.

I recently switched from CG-1 irons to CG Red with Rifle Project X 6.0 shafts. I am very pleased with my decision to make the change. The CG-1 and CG Red feel very similar on well struck shots, but the kicker is the shots that are not struck so well. The CG Red really stands out on poorly struck shots, direction and distance remain acceptable. The feel and look are very nice, and I can easily work the ball in either direction as well as high and low with the CG Red. The look of a player’s style club with the incorporated technology offering a degree of forgiveness has given me new found confidence.

I recently swapped from Cleveland CG-1 to the CG Red. I am very impressed with the overall feel of the club and the ability to work the ball. Very similar feel to the CG-1 on well struck shots. The kicker is the shots that are not struck so well. This is where the CG Red really begins to show just how good they are. The look at address is excellent and inspires confidence. Try them if you are looking for a player’s style club with a touch of forgiveness.

After trying several makes of clubs in the last 18 months i am now settled on these clubs, they feel very close to forged and offer that little more forgiveness. I found a set on Ebay for £250 new...so keep you eyes peeled. They look good at address and you cannot see the gelback at address, if you are wondering about them ...give them a try.

After trialling numerous brands of irons at many different outlets in the area and around, in hopes of putting a new set in of irons in the bag for the upcoming year. I'm impressed with their playability and forgiveness for slightly off sweet spot contact. The feedback is also outstanding and rewards you with butter like feel on good contact as well as reasonable feedback on off hits. But most of all I'm very impressed with the accuracy. The length in comparison to my Wilson's on average about 5-10 yards longer from PW-4. If anyone is looking for playability, feedback and some forgiveness, try the CG reds, you won't be disappointed.

prior to the cg reds i was playing tommy armour silverscot forged. I changed irons because tommy armour brand was becoming extinct and u could not put a matching bag together anyway I love the look and feel of a players club and i was hesitant to give up the feel of a forged club but i've been very impressed with the cg reds, u can't really tell the difference of feel.

A revelation. After 5 happy years with a set of TA5s I have been impressed with the accuracy and playability of these red irons throughout the set. I can stripe a 3 iron to 180 metres and the short irons are like lasers.

These irons are more playable than I would have imagined, but you can hit any shot you can think of with these. After the breakin perion I was able to get the same distance as some of the forged clubs. If you like a playable club with a little forgiveness you should do yourself a favor and hit these for a few rounds. You will be toting CG Reds for a long time.
