After playing TA3's for many years I started looking for a set of blades. I demoed several different brands, but I always seem to come back to Cleveland. They just fit me right and have the best feel through the entire set.

Appearance: These are simply gorgeous looking clubs from every angle. They setup perfect and alignment is very easy

Feel: Like all blades, you have to hit it solid to appreciate the buttery feel of these. I'm a decent ball striker, but on occasion will toe one. I like the feedback on good and bad shots.

Distance: Solid hits, I've gained about 5-8 yards. Off center hits, lose about 10yards. So, if you consistently mis-hit your irons do not get these. You will not like them.

Overall: I absolutely love these clubs. The first round(9 holes) with these I shot even par. A few weeks later had my 1st hole in one. I also had consistent rounds in the low/mid 70's. I'm sticking my irons close more than ever. I give full credit to these irons.

I have to be honest when I say that these clubs absolutely blew me away!

Being a player that shoots in the 80's pretty regularly, I'm probably not a typical candidate for blades, however, these just felt right.

I had been looking for a while to upgrade to blades, and figured I'd try to find a decently priced set to start with, and these were them.

I was working with an instructor at the time that said "the best Game Improvement irons are blades" and boy was he right!

The good shots are much better with these than my last set of GI irons. The bad shots, well they suck, but you know exactly what you did and why it happened the way it did.

That has been the biggest reason that these trimmed me down to a low 80's player, from a low 90's guy.

These are very smooth, very accurate with their distance and are very nicely weighted.

Since buying these, I've toyed with Titleist AP1's, Taylor Made's and Ping S-57's among others, but these are just perfect for me.

get them fitted correctly, you'll love them!

Cleveland CG1 3-PW, Dynamic Gold X-100 SL

Last winter my beloved Cleveland TA3 form forged irons were stolen out of my trunk. I liked the minimal cavity on those clubs and decided to take the plunge and get a set of blades. I heard good things about the CG1s and bought them on ebay for $275 with X-100 SL Shafts.

These clubs are simply awesome. I now understand what others are talking about when saying blades have a buttery feel. Also, they are MUCH easier to hit that I thought. In fact, they are JUST as easy to hit as my old TA3's. With that being said, these are clubs for younger types with a more athletic swing. For me, the biggest surprise with these clubs is the distance. I originally intended to swap the x-100 SL shafts with S300s because I thought there would be a distance loss. Surprisingly, I have actually gained a little distance with a much better trajectory. Overall, these are great clubs that I'd recommend to anyone who plays the game half-way seriously. You do NOT have to be a single digit handicap to enjoy these irons.

I started off playing king cobra irons which where good for a start. ive only been playing 1 year, with the cobras i got down to an average score of 110-115, then i decided to go and get some good irons, funny enough i read reviews from this site and decided to go with the cg1 clevelands, it took a couple months to really get the hang of them but now i think they are amazing! i now consistantly shoot in 90s and my game just keeps getting better, if you want to improve your game dont get game improvement irons, get a set of these!!

These irons feel extremely good if you find the sweet spot, but if you don't it feels like crap, another bad thing is that they go at least 20 yards less distance, which is very annoying having to adjust, overall i don't like them and i think i might switch to something that feels good and goes a bit further.

switched over to these after trying cavity mizuno mp57/callawayx20 tour. Thank god i bought these. I thought the cavities would help my swing but they made it worst. It reminds me of the first time i fell in love with golf shots. Couldnt have asked for a better set of irons. the look is excellent at address and feels soft at impact, just like how a blade should feel.
The Mp57 were too clunky for me. could never get the feel of the ball when i hit it. very highly recommended to anyone who wants to play blades.
And they came cheap. I notice Vijay still uses them hehe.

Well I decided to get these as my first blades and I liked them a lot. The CMM material mixed with the muscle back design really made these clubs feel super soft. The sensicore shafts may have had some role in the softness too. But to keep it simple here are the Pros/Cons

Pros:
Feels soft, easy to control (really easy), accurate and solid iron all around

Cons: CMM material is very "dentable" if that's a word...just look at the used CG1 or CG4 at the shop. other than that..no problems here

Overall, love the cllubs but sadly I must let them go for back injury reason and lack of time to handle blades for now.

Customer Service

Got them at Golfsmith (Westminster, CO) and they rock...but never needed customer service from Cleveland

It's been 3 weeks now after I bought these babies on EBAY. Cops are still chasing me..$132 with Graphite shafts. First set of irons with Graphite for me and well let's see. First round 4 birdies! a few miss hits wich i was reminded of but all in all these are great clubs. I can work the ball again and I now have my normal distance again. I grew up plying Walter Hagen muscleback irons for 20 years and played to a 5 handicap. Was convinced to upgrade to cast cavityback in the 90's and lost feel and control. Last set were Hogan forged Edge and they were good but no comparison. As for graphite shafts I still feel the ball strikes and most important the head of the club in the swing. The running joke with my group is..they tell me they don't like the soundof them...I reply...I love the results!

I have used the cg1 irons for just over 3 months now, and i have found them easier to play with than normal cavity back clubs. I now have the confidence to shape shots and hit different types of shots with different clubs. The ability to stop a 5 iron shot within inches of the first bounces makes going for the greens easier tahn before. If, like me, your a good ball striker but a high handicapper these irons may help bring your score down. I had them custom fitted at a cleveland center, this has proved invalueble as the fitting was free.

Customer Service

Cleveland were very helpful when i bought them. They took me through the pros and cons of using the irons.
