I have owned these irons, 5 - SW ns pro r shafts, for the last 4 years. I was just 13 at the time and were just perfect for me as I was just starting to play some proper scoring golf.
These irons just like to have a medium to high draw all day long. However you hit them, be it off the grass like a fairway wood or a decent divot, this is the shape that you will get.
Bad miss hits will tend to lose this shale but still go the correct distance, this is where I believe the perceived "forgiveness" comes in. The distances are all fairly similar, as opposed to blades which a miss hit will cost you on distance.
As I have mentioned these irons were great for starting off however, as my ball striking has improved I have looked for something with a more traditional shape and feel. I personally now find the address view on the 5 iron uninspiring with its large offset and shallow but long face. In my latter days with these irons I began to develop a large draw with the longer irons that was more of a hinderance. I have very recently bought a set of titleist 695cb's and am playing my best golf ever, shot a 76 the other day, and would highly recommend to anyone wanting to improve regardless of handicap.
In conclusion I believe that these are a fantastic set for anyone who is just starting out or for whom ball striking with irons is not a strong point as they get the ball up in the air and are fairly confidence inspiring. However for anyone wanting to move on to the next stage I would recommend a set of more traditional irons such as the mp-57's etc

These are the best set of irons that I have ever had. I had the Cobra SSi Irons before I bought these. I didn't like the shafts or grips, so I upgraded to graphite shafts and golfpride grips. My distance has increased by an average of 20 yards per club. I have and always will be a Cobra Golfer for life! Great equipment and will always stack up to the Taylor Mades, Calloways, Titleists, and Nikes of the industry.

I'm 19 years old and I've had thee clubs for two years now, and I must say they are the best clubs I've ever used. I used to hit my pitching wedge 130, but with these I hit it 155. They increased my distance drastically. I also bought the 3 iron separately and love it! All in all worth every penny!

I had Cleveland CG Golds, then hit these and realized what I was missing. Have the Nippon NS Pro steel shaft and hit them 15-20 yards further each! Crisp feel, and few mis-hits. Every well struck ball is a high draw, and can get over tall pines with ease even with a 6 iron. Recommended for ALL skill levels. These are money.

I just switched from Titleist AP1 irons to the S9. I was very happy with the AP1's but I wanted to change from steel to graphite shafts. While I was trying the AP1 graphites, I decided to pick up another set to compare them to and my eye fell on the Cobras. When I hit them, they felt great. I went through the set of both and found that I hit the S9 long irons much easier and better than the AP1's and that's what tipped the scale for me. The AP1's are supposedly more workable and the S9's more forgiving.

I've played 4 rounds now with the S9's and have found that, yes, they are extremely forgiving, but I can also work the ball well enough. They are extremely accurate, especially the Gap Wedge. The ball is laser-guided when I hit it with that thing.

I especially like the buttery feel of hitting these irons. Catch it pure on thee sweet spot, and you don't even hear the ball. My playing partners have commented several times that they thought I just took a practice stroke, and didn't know I had played my shot already.

I also see a very noticeable gain in distance. I expected a little due to switching to the graphite shafts. But I’m about a club and a half longer now.

My only negative is in chipping, my AP1's were better. These clubs feel very light to me so I am having to get used to that when chipping, but I know I will with practice, so no biggie.

I also have to mention that these are very attractive looking clubs. Very beautifully designed and they instill confidence at set-up. I also like that the club face has that circular marking that helps you easily line the ball up for a sweet hit.

For my handicap, I was advised that I didn't need this level of game improvement irons, but the heck with that. I love these clubs!

Best clubs I've ever used. Like others before said easy to get airborne, ball flight is higher than other clubs and deadly accurate.
I've gained a lot of confidence with these clubs, unfortunately I was only able to use them about 6 rounds while on holidays.
Can't wait for the golf season to arrive to get out and really play them.

Model Reviewed: Cobra S9

I recently received a set of Cobra S9s for Christmas and have taken them out this week for the first time.

The first thing I noticed is how deadly accurate they are. Every shot seemed to go exactly where I hit them. Straight shots were dead straight and with a much higher ball flight than my old clubs. I was surprised to discover how easy they were to shape shots as well. Very high draws were simple. I have not yet had the opportunity to really bend a slicing fade on purpose (none occurred on accident) but simple baby fades from center of the green to a tucked pin went exactly as I had planned - that is saying a lot since I am horrible at such technical shots. My older clubs were components modeled after Tommy Armour 845s which, though cavity-backed, are workable like blades... these Cobras are surprisingly easier to work and far more deadly accurate.

Unlike other reviewers, I have noticed a loss of distance with the S9s. All shots feel far truer struck yet fall a good 10 yards shorter than my old irons. This puts my 7 iron at 150 exactly which is more than enough - especially with the added accuracy.

The feel is pure butter. I have no idea if I hit a miss-hit, which is a negative in feel, but the ball still goes where it was supposed to regardless so it gives you the illusion that the entire club is a gigantic sweetspot.

I have noticed a tendency to get caught up in deep dormant bermuda grass. However everyone I was playing with had the same problem with an assortment of other brand clubs. Having a wide sole for the first time gave me a slightly false sense of invincibility... miracle clubs they aren't in that respect.

I like others, added 2 club lengths when I switched to the S9 Irons from Callaway Fusion Irons (47 years old). Due to a closeout special, the S9 with stiff iron shafts were 2/3 off. I had never played stiff shafts in my life. I noticed better swing control with the stiff shafts and the tendency for over swing is gone. The 7 Iron is a perfect dead on 150 yd club for me with a nice even tempo swing. This irons are super easy to get airborne and the ball flight is tremendously high. The ball will stick the green for sure and there is no bouncing off the back of the green from 150. This is the best iron I have ever hit and I have hit them and owned them all. Pitching wedge is 44 degrees and Gap Wedge is 49 degrees. Makes the PW play like a 9 iron. Gap Wedge for me is now used where I used to use a PW. I am always one hole per nine away from being a 70's golfer and I am positive these irons are going to get me into the 70's. The control I have is awesome and the confidence level high. I can go at any pin. Take my wife, just don't touch the S9's. Best iron I have ever owned.

Model Reviewed: COBRA S9 GRAPHITE SHAFTS

I was playing with Ping S59 Irons I lost two club lengths in distance they were very straight but just gave up way to much distance. Its much easier to hit a 7 iron than it is a 5 iron. I bought the S9II cobras with graphite shafts and my distance was back. I gained two clubs difference. My friend who shoots in the low 70's hit my clubs twice and he can also take one club less hitting my cobras. He now wants a set of the Cobra S9's. I have a medical problem in my hand so the graphite shaft is alot easier on that. I will soon be back in the 70's again I have already cut 8 strokes in each of the two rounds I have played with my Cobra's. The best thing I can tell you is that they have put the fun back in the game. They are really great clubs.
