Model Reviewed: KZG OC II Irons

These irons are the follow-on design of the OC-X1 oversize cavity backs. Visually, the two models seem identical (except for badging and paint-fill), but there are small differences, like toe height and blade length.

These are EXTREMELY easy to hit, topline is not excessive (for a cavity back), and the offset is minimal. Looks great at address. The heads weigh a little more, so one might need a little butt weight to dial in the swing weight. I play 1/2+ length and 2 deg. up lie. My other iron sets (5-9 iron) are at D1, but these came out at D2. I decided to leave them at D2 to see how I liked it. I will say that these hit one club longer than my other sets, and while it took a couple rounds to adjust, I'm really liking the additional distance. Though the OC II's are cast, the softer steel provides a nice feel when struck, very close to a forged feel.

If you want a super G.I. iron without lots of offset, you will not regret these sticks.

These clubs are game improvement clubs that allow you to work the ball (not a bad thing). The proprietary metal formula used to fashion these clubs give them a feel close to forged (soft). The clubs are over sized (big), easy to hit, accurate, and considerably long, (7 iron 175 yards). As with all your clubs get fitted (shaft length, flex, grip size, lie angle...). Very important.
